Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere isn’t much to do for kids besides a small playground and you’ll need a car if you stay at this hotel and plan to go out. The family rooms are away from the main building.
This is a nice hotel for conference, seminars, weddings and if you are into golf. Rooms and ground were clean. Breakfast was ok if you like English breakfast but nothing special. Staff was accommodating.

United KingdomDinner service was not up to standard. I waited 50 minutes for my food and when it finally arrived the main course came out before the starter. When I complained I was not offered anything other than a sulky apology. I did press this and was eventually not charged for one of my drinks. Not really the standard I'd expect from this hotel.
Easy arrival process and ease of booking.

United KingdomIt was all perfect apart from the fact that there was a large conference, which meant on the first day it was very busy, noisy and messy. Not the fault of staff, who tried their best to accommodate our needs.
Good Location, close to all the attractions we wanted to visit, yet set amongst large grounds with a grand mansion house.

United KingdomLengthy check in process on late check in. Had previously made arrangements with the hotel and still took 10-15 minutes to check in due to computer issues. Was given vague directions to our accomodation (in a separate building from reception) and no parking was available when we got there. Also charged an extra £50 on top of room rate, and only told it was a pre-authorisation charge when questioned the next morning. I'm OK with these being charged but would prefer I'm told up front rather than having to question charges on my card after the fact.
Beautiful grounds, nice, clean rooms and great facilities. Breakfast was very good and staff were all friendly and approachable.

United KingdomTaking all of our luggage out of the car to be told we were not in the main building, so had to put it all back in again...after a long day and check in at 9.30 pm this was a bit frustrating but the lady on the desk did try to resolve it by asking if my daughter and I would share a double bed then we could stay in the main part...unfortunately we didn't really want this. The rooms for such a beautiful place are a bit devoid of character. The bathrooms are outstanding, but the rooms themselves are really bland ..the only thing letting down a full score.
Wow, the location was amazing! The staff especially the lady on breakfast were so friendly ( that's how you do customer service). The place itself is imposing and grand but the friendliness of the team makes it have a non-pretentious feel. Breakfast itself is one of the most impressive I have experienced.

United KingdomInitially feeling like we had been catfished, the listing should be more transparent about the accommodation. The Mansion House (white building) has various eating options but when we asked on checking in we were told there’s a bar and restaurant where our room was, ie in brown building, so it seemed we were not welcome to use these facilities - there was a Tapas restaurant that I liked the sound off… The bar in the other building was heaving with golfers so we couldn’t find anywhere to sit for a meal so went to the restaurant which was nice but menu was not very extensive. View was of the service yard and the glass bottles were emptied at 2am….there was a wedding on so I guess more empties than usual but surely it could have waited till the morning rather than wake everyone up. TV didn’t work but that didn’t bother us as only there for the night.
Firstly to note there are two buildings on site and the listing features an outside photo of the stately home building - we arrived here to be told (by snooty receptionists) that we were in the other ‘brown’ building but they could check us in here. However this building was amazing inside, an Avenue lobby with seating areas, restaurant, bar, outside seating and room was lovely as was modern bathroom. Breakfast was fantastic and restaurant was good for evening meal but menu limited for our tastes.
