How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewI had booked in a deluxe room with view, however I was given a room on the ground floor with the view of a road with barriers. This is hardly a view that they had promised on their website.
The room was very hot and had no AC. There is no water bottle for customers. And they don’t provide water bottle when requested, however they sell refillable water bottle which you will have to buy to fill up with water. When I first went to the property, all the fire doors were left open which is hardly a secured site anyone could have come into the building which I found very poor in terms of security.

Verified reviewThe rooms were comfortable and the hotel itself had a good atmosphere.
Staff seemed to not know much about the hotel. We were asked to get out the pool after being in it for 20mins for routine cleaning which would last 30mins…. So we either had to sit in the tiny changing room for the time or give up and get dressed.

Verified reviewWe found this hotel last minute for a weekend getaway from London with my partner, and it turned out to be a wonderful choice. The place is amazing—very quiet, surrounded by nature, and perfect for relaxing. The staff were also excellent .

Verified reviewWe have previously stayed in the mansion house at the DeVere, and it was fantastic hence why we came back. This thought we chose a room in Wokefield place as it was ground floor with patio doors and described as having a view . This room was separate to mansion house. Beautifully decorated, room was clean and well set up, lovely surprise in our room when we arrived being the guest of the day, so we had some biscuits and chocolate as a gift. Welcoming staff, we requested via booking.com to have a late check out which the property noted down and allowed us to have with no problem. In the reception area there is a kids table with free arts and crafts and free cereal bars. They have a pantry where you can purchase drinks, snacks , chargers and lots of other items . You can rent umbrellas in the door way via contactless card payment . .
The only issue we had with our ground floor room was that it was described as being a room with a view , which you can see the golf course however, the room did open up into the car park . I assumed you would face somewhere a bit more private. As a result we had the curtains pulled the majority of the time for privacy. The doors also had a big gap at the top, this was because on of the double doors didn’t actually close properly, however with the other door closed and locked it was fine. Could make the room very cold in winter though. Breakfast was nice, however a little unorganised we weren’t told where we were allowed to sit, and so didn’t know where to go, we couldn’t find any plates and had to ask to get some. The selection of food was great though and even for children there was frubes, baby bels, yoghurts, cheese and lots of kids choices .

Verified reviewGrounds were lovely. Convenient for our purposes.
Not only was our room dirty but all the common areas too especially the pool area. Staff were not great at all which is so disappointing - surly, unhelpful, unapproachable. Food was average.

Verified reviewIt is a beautiful place to stay. The surroundings are gorgeous and the rooms were very clean and comfortable. I love the little dog bed and bowls. The staff were exceptional and go above and beyond to make you feel looked after.10/10
Before I begin I want to make it clear that it is not the hotel or staff that I am unhappy with. More whoever books meets at the hotel. This was clearly going to take over 90% of the hotel for the entire weekend. There is no way general public wanting a spa hotel should be able to book during an event such as this. This is greedy and selfish. The hotel is sold as though it is a high calibre golf & spa hotel. No way would anyone have been able to enjoy a relaxing weekend 22-25th August. Had I known I would have definitely booked elsewhere. I arrived during a congregation/festival type thing and it was so congested in the reception that it was impossible to pass through into the bar or restaurant. I had to wait for 40 mins just to check in. I finally got checked in an hour later than planned and headed to the restaurant. It was disgustingly busy and there was over an hour wait for food and no where to sit. I went for a long walk with the dog and unfortunately when I got back at 6pm it was still busy. I decided to go for a swim/sauna to try and escape the chaos. When I got into the pool it was more like a soft play for kids with balls and inflatables everywhere. I couldn’t get into the small packed changing room. After the swim teacher had finished his lesson I asked that he leave the rope so I could try and swim lengths but within 5 mins the kids had taken over the lane too. I went into the sauna knowing at least in there the noise would be drowned out. At this point desperate for some peace. When I sat my goggles down I accidentally dropped my locker key. I looked under the bench and physically gagged. There was half an inch of brown sludge all over the floor. I have never seen anything like it. With no pool brush in site, The wonderful swim teacher helped me carry the rescue pole into the sauna as going under there was out of the question. We had to carefully fish out the key.

Verified reviewThis is a nice hotel for conference, seminars, weddings and if you are into golf. Rooms and ground were clean. Breakfast was ok if you like English breakfast but nothing special. Staff was accommodating.
There isn’t much to do for kids besides a small playground and you’ll need a car if you stay at this hotel and plan to go out. The family rooms are away from the main building.

Swimming pool accessed by the bar. Surely an adaption could be made. Not many people would want to walk through the bar to the pool.
