Breakfast wasn't great for £10, it was ok but for £10 looking for better. Apart from that in a hostel not a lot to complain about

The location is the best I've seen. Go to a shop though of you are bringing your own food and drink. Parking is available but busy. Rooms are basic and clean, showers are basic and clean as are the toilets. Staff are great. The views and the location are the best I've seen.Bar that does food on site, food is good and price of drinks is ok.

Self catering, seating area was not welcoming, tucked away around the back and lack of ventilation and fresh air.

I had booked for myself and my wife but forgot to mention my wife's mobility issues. The staff were helpful and arranged for us to change our room to one on the ground floor.

IThe address provided by Booking.com actually directed me to another hostel diagonally across the street when using Google Maps – no idea what's going on there.

This hostel has a fantastic location with Windermere Lake right outside the window. The bedding is decently thick and reasonably clean - pillows and quilts are quite substantial. The room contains 3 bunk beds with 6 beds in total. Each upper bunk has its own charging port, and every guest gets a small locker (though without a lock). There's also a small washbasin in the room, and each bunk has its own towel rack. Overall it's pretty good! The shared toilets 🚻 and shower facilities are located outside the rooms.

The shower room could’ve been cleaner. I also wish there had been a proper separation between the shower and changing areas. A curtain just wasn’t enough. My clothes, bag, and everything else got wet after I took a shower.

Took a one-way cruise from Bowness-on -Windermere to Ambleside, and this hostel was located right in front of where we got off. There’s a restaurant attached to the hostel, and I had a really good fish and chips there. You also get a lovely view of Lake Windermere. Some easy hiking trails are within walking distance. I did a hike to Rydal Cave, and the starting point, Rothay Park, was just a 20-minute walk from the hostel.

The showers were so tight and incredibly humid. The first bunk room (for 6) was unbelievably hot, even with a fan running and it only being 17°C outside, we couldn't sleep the first night (which unfortunately meant we were all knackered for scaling 12 Peaks over 12 hours!). The toilets were also very tight and often in a disgusting condition, it seems hostel users have low hygiene expectations! Breakfast on the last morning was poorly managed - the guy who should have been monitoring what needed topping up simply wasn't doing his job, I had to ask for more bowls, spoons, teaspoons and brown bread...! The girl on hot food was great though. I cut my knee and had to have stitches during the peak walk and unfortunately found it was not an easy hostel to navigate thereafter - limited accessible rooms (so no chance to have one), therefore on 2nd floor with only tight stairs to use.

The lady on reception was extremely helpful (mid length dark brown hair), she went above and beyond to help. The breakfast is reasonable value and the bar serves good food. The location is the best thing about it - gorgeous lake views and close to the pier, although a little walk into town.
