Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GeorgiaThe lights inside the room are not bright enough, beds might feel a bit short for tall people (above 183 cm or 6 ft), no soundproofing between rooms, hot shower electric boiler has limited capacity (≈3 people) and takes some time to reload.
Authentic ancient hostel building, chill zone on the roof (perfect view of the night sky), responsive and flexible host (speaks fluent English), plenty of car parking space, sounds of a mountain river, Shatili fortress nearby, good breakfast.

Finland- Nothing bad to say
Incredible place, unique and historic. Great host, tasty meals. It was nice that the hostel is outside the fortress, since it's more peaceful but also provides a view on Shatili instead of being in the middle of it. Unforgettable stay! Thank you! + Lovely host + Medieval tower! + Fun and unique decor + Comfy bed + Great view from terrace + Peaceful

GreeceThis place is situated right next to the old fortress. It has a truly historic vibe, complete with beautiful traditional decorations, except for the toilet and shower, which are wonderfully modern. From the roof terrace, you’re both in the fortress and looking at it, which is such a perfect combo. We even added a delicious dinner and breakfast at the host’s place when we got there, and then we went out for a few drinks in the old fortress. For us, this was the end of our five-day hike from Omalo (Tusheti) to Shatili, and we couldn’t have wished for a more comfortable arrival stay. The beds, in particular, were extremely comfortable.

GeorgiaA wonderful place to stay during your stay in Shatili! The hostess was nice and friendly, the house inside is very historical and authentic, the rooms are comfortable and have comfortable clean bedding. The third floor with a terrace and a view of the fortress city delighted us, the views are amazing. Thanks for the hospitality, we will definitely stay here again!

GeorgiaOne night, the roof leaked, and my husband ended up with a wet head and pillow. Electricity wasn't working in the mornings. However, this is minor considering the place is not even accessible for 7 months a year. Some discomfort is to be expected and embraced
For such a remote place, everything was great. You cannot find better comfort and value in Shatili. Staying in the centuries-old tower and being able to learn about Khevsureti from the locals is a very special experience to be cherished. Breakfast was amazing, tasty, and plentiful to fill you up for a long hike. The owner is very friendly and accommodating

FranceIt's located outside of the old village, thus it has a really beautiful view from the terrace to the old city. The room and facilities are certainly devoid of any luxury but that certainly gives a very authentic charm

United StatesIt was perfect. We were even there during a cold front and the blankets were so cozy, it was no problem.
We absolutely loved our incredible stay at Ethnic. You are literally staying in a fortress, and to me, that is one of the coolest things we did in Georgia. It feels like you're in the Game of Thrones. The lobby area takes you back in time, even the choice of lighting out of lanterns is perfect. The terrace has a fantastic view of Shatili. The host lives off property so make sure to message/call if you need something. She was a ray of sunshine, super friendly and made a wonderful breakfast for us. She also spoke decent English. We loved Shatili, do visit Cafe Firefly, was awesome to have a drink in a bar inside a fortress village and their food was awesome.

PolandWhen we arrived, it took as few minutes to find the host, even thou she lives just around the corner - some sign on the gate might be handy :)
Absolutely amazing and magical place. Have you ever stayed in a medieval tower... as it was left in Middle Ages? No fancy modern additions (except for fully functional bathroom, thank God! ;) ) - stone walls, wooden (yet comfy!) beds, spartan living area... Add to that great meals served by your host in her place nearby - and you have (probably) the most magical place to stay in Georgia! The roof tarrace provides amazing view of the Shatili fortress itself.

Czech RepublicWhen we arrived the host was nowhere to find so we had to call her – but it was just a minor inconvenience, nothing serious. Also the bathroom is shared and walls between rooms are paper thin, but it's understanable considering you'are sleeping in 14th century stone tower :))
Great location and nice host who can speak English and can make you great dinner or breakfast!

BelgiumNo privacy between rooms. At night you could hear every single breathing and movement from your neighbours. There is a big issue if you find little mouses running up and down inside the house (specially at night). This problem has got to be fixed, other wise it ruins the whole experience.
Good location away from the noisy restaurant cafe on the top of Shatili. Confy beds. Nice stone house with very good terrace on the top.
