Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Romania-
I booked for 1 night but ended up staying some more nights. Very nice location, clean and the family is very sweet. Giorgi and his parents were very accommodating and also planned various activities like horse riding. Food was good, internet was good as well, if you want to work remotely there in the middle of nature is doable.

GeorgiaMy partner and I chose 'Guest House Balda' for our stay while visiting Martvili Canyon, and it was a perfect choice. The canyon was just a quick 15-minute drive away, making it very convenient. The guest house itself was incredibly comfortable, with everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The serene atmosphere, combined with the warmth and hospitality of the host family, made us feel right at home. Their house is truly beautiful, and the on-site restaurant was a highlight of our trip. The food was exceptional—I've tasted many Khachapuri throughout Georgia, but theirs was by far the best. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

BelgiumNothing, had we known how nice the place is and the excursions that the hosts can organised we would've planned a longer stay.
We really liked our stay in Guest House Balda! We especially liked the warm welcome by Giorgi and his family. They are very attentive hosts, we talked a lot and learned about Georgia and its culture. They are extremely flexible and cooked us a lovely dinner. Breakfast gave us energy for a long day of hiking. Giorgi and his parents know the region very well and can give great advice! Our room had a beautiful view of the mountains.we also appreciated the quiet of this small village...we slept really well there. Last but not least: Farm pup Charlie is super cute and took care of entertaining everybody ;)

GermanyThe whole place was just perfect, the hosts, the food, the location. We really felt like family and were lucky to be invited for dinner the first evening with the family and some friends from the neighborhood. The food was awesome and freshly made. Asa and her son Giorgi made us feel at home and were the best hosts you could ask for. What's very nice is the veranda in front of the rooms where you can sit and enjoy the view over the mountains. You can also have very nice hikes in the area.

GermanyThe family were exceptionally warm and welcoming and took care of our every need. If you are lucky enough to connect with the other travelers, the veranda has multiple areas to hang out, eat together and/or relax. Otherwise, there are also other common areas with beautiful views if you are looking for more privacy. The cooking and meals are delicious, the animals were super cute and friendly, and there is lots to do in the surrounding areas: hike to 3 waterfalls or a cave, or drive to the hot springs or canyons. I had the most wonderful time. Thanks for an amazing stay!

LatviaOverall it's a great place. I only disliked the cleanliness in our room, but still we slept no problem and it was good.
It's the best place to hike to the Oniore and Tobu waterfalls. It's a hard 6-8 hours hike but incredibly beautiful. Not crowdy at all. We were at waterfall alone. Half way to the Oniore waterfall is a small place where you can meet husband of the host of this place. He can help you with advice and he has incredible swings where you can make photos. (Swings above the cliff). The host is amazing woman, speaks Russian, English and Georgian. She served us breakfast and dinner (both very tasty), homemade wine was also good.

GeorgiaArrival & Communication: The main road to the guesthouse had been closed for three months, but this was not mentioned in the listing. Hosts admitted they knew about it and that past guests were also frustrated — yet refused to update the description. The alternative route was a difficult dirt road, made worse by rain. No assistance or meeting point was offered to help us find the location. Only the screenshot of the map as a guide. Room & Comfort: The room was cramped, with very little space to move. The bed was too small, even for someone of 167 cm height. The door to the bathroom was closed off from the room, requiring a cold walk around — uncomfortable for anyone, but especially for my pregnant wife There was no air of comfort or coziness. Facilities: Despite being listed as available, there were: No kitchen, stovetop, fridge, or kitchenware, no hairdryer. No entertainment options like TV, music, etc. To get anything you have to ask for it, hosts never offered us a thing. No breakfast, no coffee were offered in the morning. Hospitality: The atmosphere felt unwelcoming and cold. One host left silently; the other seemed disinterested. The hosts were so welcoming, they barely looked up from their phones to notice us on the next morning — we felt like invisible guests of honor. Asking for a coffee? Oh no, we wouldn’t dare interrupt such an important scroll. At checkout, they kept our change, which felt inappropriate. Overall attitude seemed rude and money-focused, not reflective of the Georgian hospitality we’ve known and loved over the past 3 years of living here.
Initial Description on Booking.com: The listing mentioned public road access, nearby sightseeing spots (including waterfalls), and horse rentals — which sounded appealing, but not met. Scenic Location: The surrounding area could have been beautiful under different circumstances, especially in better weather. Polite Attempt at Conversation (by one host): The host made a minimal effort to engage in small talk and showed us videos of past guests enjoying their stay.

United Arab EmiratesThe menu and the prices the showed us was different and the cleaning for this place was not good
The property location was good and the price was good for stay , but how they scam or fraud is in food menu first they show you menu with completely different prices and once you ask them to check out or pay then the mother here and her son will come with local people ( his friends ) and then she will say oh by mistake I gave you old menu then she will show the menu in Georgian language and it will have a different price , for example in there English menu they showed us was for chicken BBQ 15 GEL and the. What was written in other menu she showed us in last day was 35 GEL and then the mother was saying I don’t know and her son name is George who was translator in English and then we had no option other than paying them the money they asked for , I would recommend that you stay there and go for hiking and before ordering food with them just confirm every time , and they will say pay later on but i would say pay them daily basis so they don’t have a option to scam at last

Saudi ArabiaThey changed the booking all by themselves from two rooms to one and updated in booking.com to reflect one room for only two of our family members. Rest of two family members were supposed to find another hotel room somewhere. Insane people at far end of the village with no mobile service.. Going up that unpaved road had vibes of the song hotel California. We wanted to check out and leave ! beware !

PolandThe road to the guesthouse is in really bad condition and after raining there is a lot of deep puddles. You have to go outside to reach the bathroom. In the room is little space and only one hanger in the wardrobe.
The guesthouse is in walking distance from Kaghu waterfall and Balda canyon, there are delicious food options and place in the garden to relax. The host provides transport in good prices. The location is really quiet and remote.
