Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaOur room had one window close to the ceiling but with the other guest room, and all the light and sound came through the window from the other guest room. We had lots of bug bites after sleeping there in the double room. Probably bed bugs.
Overall, good accommodation for the price around the area. Very good food and nice people. The bathroom is warm and works great.

DenmarkOverpriced. We paid 80 Lari Per person for dinner and breakfast. Much more than at other guesthouses and the food wasn’t better.

New ZealandMy bedroom faced onto the upper balcony and only had net curtains. The shutters on the outside wouldn't stay shut, which meant the balcony light shone in my room all night and kept me awake. The food was OK and tasty enough but was more expensive than the other two guesthouses we stayed at on our hike and not as impressive. For example, the dinner had no protein (e.g. meat, cheese, eggs, etc.) at all, and nor did the breakfast apart from boiled eggs. The wifi wasn't working most of the time, but I appreciate it's a challenge getting good coverage in remote locations like this.
I liked the character building and its beautiful location. The shower was fantastic - great water flow and lovely and hot. The host was friendly and welcoming, The bed was comfortable.

FranceThe room is very small and cold More expensive than other guest house on the trek Only 2 bathrooms for many people. We were lucky that the dormitory was not full.

DenmarkSome of the food was good (soup, aubergine salad), but some of it was old (stale bread, soggy khachapuri). It was also the most expensive food on our 4 day trek. The wifi didn't work unless you were right next to the router. The bathroom was so tiny, there was nowhere to set your toiletries when you wanted to shower or brush your teeth.
The guesthouse is very old and has so much character! The terrace is nice for relaxing with a breeze, and you can also hang hiking clothes out there. Considering how old it is, the place is surprisingly clean, and the bed was really comfortable. We were only 4 people total staying there, so it was very quiet - not sure how it would be otherwise. Everyone working there was friendly, despite us not speaking the same language.

Czech RepublicThe beds are quite short, but the room is very good concerning, how such a small village it is.
Great option fow overnight stay on trek Mestia-Usghuli. Nice location with stunning history. It was not problem just to book a night without paying for dinner/breakfast. There is no mobile signal, so (slower) wi-fi is a plus. Nice warm atmosphere. Shared bathroom was always available, when we needed. You can also buy some snacks/drinks in a small shop.

SlovakiaIt didn't have the same generous atmosphere as other guesthouses we stayed in. For example, at mealtimes there was just enough food (other places made plenty and encouraged you to take leftovers for lunch), plus she charged 10 GEL per shot of very poor chacha (other guesthouses didn't charge, and bars charge 5 GEL for far better quality). I think the overall bill was the most expensive on the trail.
Atmospheric house in a peaceful location, right on the trail. Great outdoor space / bar area to sit and have a drink and talk to people. The soup served for dinner was amazing. Other food was tasty, and I appreciated having some dishes which were not served elsewhere.

VietnamNothing really. It is very basic, but that should be expected in this location so high in the mountains.
Very friendly family. If you want to stay in Khalde, stay here! We choose it because we took the high (hard but spectacular) route to Ushguli over Lagem pass. But we were very positively surprised by the warm welcome, mountain setting and good food

United KingdomPrices for dinner, breakfast and beer are significantly higher here than other places in Svaneti. I understand that: it's such a remote place, but be aware when you arrive that you might need to set aside a few more lari than usual for food.
It's a large, very old building in a very remote village. Considering that, the facilities are amazing - shower is powerful and hot, WiFi is great and the beds are super comfortable (we slept like logs!). I wonder if Larisa has started changing the beds? I'd seen reports that the beds were very short, but I'm 6 foot and they were long enough for me! The food that Larisa made us was nourishing and delicious.

United KingdomBed was a little uncomfortable, but we were tired enough after our long hike that we fell asleep immediately.
The house is really beautiful and feels like you're stepping back in time. The hosts were friendly and cooked us a lovely dinner. The house is right on the Mestia - Ushguli path and has incredible views of the surrounding mountains.

United KingdomThe property has some rooms without a window and one single bed I stayed in which was built into the room was particularly short. Not good for tall people. The food wasn’t as plentiful as at other guest houses.
Lovely Host. Great location with incredible views. Lovely stop for a beer on the trail. A good option to shorten day 3 and lengthen day 4 of the Mestia to Ushguli Trek.

Great views and lovely location. A good place to stay if you want to do the Lagem pass route to Ushguli and don’t have a tent. It was cold when we stayed but there were warm blankets in the room and we could dry our boots by the heater. The food was tasty and filling
