How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewKhalde is a cute little place to stay, just a few km short of Iprali. Check in was easy with the help of the English-speaking children), beds were very very comfy, breakfast was plentiful and tasty.

Verified reviewOverall, good accommodation for the price around the area. Very good food and nice people. The bathroom is warm and works great.
Our room had one window close to the ceiling but with the other guest room, and all the light and sound came through the window from the other guest room. We had lots of bug bites after sleeping there in the double room. Probably bed bugs.

Verified reviewGood location to spend the night if hiking Lagem Pass to Ushguli. The shower had hot water.
When we arrived we said we had a booking through booking.com, the lady responded “okay” and then we sat and waited for nearly 10 minutes for her or anyone to talk to us or show us the room. We were just ignored. The price listed on booking.com is NOT what you will pay. You will pay 100lari per person for breakfast dinner and bed. Regardless if you are sharing a room or not? For this price the food was incredibly disappointing, there was zero protein except boiled eggs for breakfast. Totally misleading advertising and extortionate prices for what you get.
Dear Guest, you are Absolutely right the price is: for Dinner 40 Gel, Breakfast 25 Gel, Lunch Box 10 Gel, accommodation: Bed in a hostel-type accommodation 25 gel, Private room 45-60 gel. Everything like in Switzerland 😊

Verified reviewNice food and good view. Friendly host
Overpriced. We paid 80 Lari Per person for dinner and breakfast. Much more than at other guesthouses and the food wasn’t better.

Verified reviewGreat location and building. The woman running it is lovely. The shower is super hot and wonderful.
In the form I got lucky and had a very comfy bed but half the beds are lumpy mattresses on saggy wire mesh frames, so get there early to claim a good bed 😉

Verified reviewI liked the character building and its beautiful location. The shower was fantastic - great water flow and lovely and hot. The host was friendly and welcoming, The bed was comfortable.
My bedroom faced onto the upper balcony and only had net curtains. The shutters on the outside wouldn't stay shut, which meant the balcony light shone in my room all night and kept me awake. The food was OK and tasty enough but was more expensive than the other two guesthouses we stayed at on our hike and not as impressive. For example, the dinner had no protein (e.g. meat, cheese, eggs, etc.) at all, and nor did the breakfast apart from boiled eggs. The wifi wasn't working most of the time, but I appreciate it's a challenge getting good coverage in remote locations like this.

Verified reviewThe food was great Good location for the 3rd day of Mestia to Ushguli trek
The room is very small and cold More expensive than other guest house on the trek Only 2 bathrooms for many people. We were lucky that the dormitory was not full.

Verified reviewIt was a roof over our heads with hot water and a bed. Unfortunately it's basically the only option if you plan to hike the Lagem Pass on Day 4 of the Mestia-Ushguli hike (there is one other guesthouse in Khalde but it's more expensive, though probably a worthwhile splurge considering the alternative).
The guesthouse is basic - that's fine. What is not okay is ripping off your customers by charging 65 lari each for a pathetic dinner and even more pathetic breakfast. It's pure extortion based on the fact that this is essentially a monopoly and guests don't have alternative meal choices in Khalde. The cost would be easier to stomach if the quality of the meals was on par with other guesthouses on this hike but this was not the case (thankfully we were not served plain pasta, stale bread and sugary rice for breakfast anywhere else during our week hiking in Svaneti). Would recommend staying further down the road in Iprari or splurging on the other guesthouse in Khalde.
Hello dear guest. You came in our guesthouse with stomach problems, you stayed 2 nights because of this. The guy with you came drunk from neighbours and was throwing all night and we take care him

Verified reviewLarisa was such a nice lady, She welcomed us to her home immediately after we were soaked by the rain. The food was delicious both breakfast and dinner. 220 GEL ( Breakfast, dinner, lunchbox, stay ) for 2 people. The location is right near the trail and far from Lparli around 1 hour of walking. Thanks Larisa, Hope to see you one day in Israel ;)

Verified reviewThe guesthouse is very old and has so much character! The terrace is nice for relaxing with a breeze, and you can also hang hiking clothes out there. Considering how old it is, the place is surprisingly clean, and the bed was really comfortable. We were only 4 people total staying there, so it was very quiet - not sure how it would be otherwise. Everyone working there was friendly, despite us not speaking the same language.
Some of the food was good (soup, aubergine salad), but some of it was old (stale bread, soggy khachapuri). It was also the most expensive food on our 4 day trek. The wifi didn't work unless you were right next to the router. The bathroom was so tiny, there was nowhere to set your toiletries when you wanted to shower or brush your teeth.

Verified reviewLarissa was the best host! So kind, so funny, and very helpful (we arrived late and very wet, and she helped us to dry our boots). She is also.an amazing cook - her dinner was one of the best in Svaneti. The rooms are small, but very confy and warm. For us, the location was great, so we could split the distance to iprali. Great hot shower

Verified reviewGreat option fow overnight stay on trek Mestia-Usghuli. Nice location with stunning history. It was not problem just to book a night without paying for dinner/breakfast. There is no mobile signal, so (slower) wi-fi is a plus. Nice warm atmosphere. Shared bathroom was always available, when we needed. You can also buy some snacks/drinks in a small shop.
The beds are quite short, but the room is very good concerning, how such a small village it is.

Verified reviewIt's a unique location if you're hiking from Mestia to Ushguli. It allows you to shorten your hike if you want to make it through Lagem Pass on day 4. It's a century-old traditional house, and the rooms are quite small. It can be noisy at night because of the other guests. Don't expect it to be similar to a big hotel. The host is super friendly. Local dinners and breakfasts are nourishing.
