How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewI had a wonderful stay at this guesthouse! The location is simply stunning — surrounded by majestic mountains with a beautiful river flowing nearby, it feels like a little piece of paradise. The view alone makes it worth coming, but what made the experience truly special were the hosts. They were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help with anything we needed. The atmosphere was warm and homely, and I felt comfortable from the very first moment. If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway with breathtaking nature and genuine hospitality, this is the perfect place!

Verified reviewIn this comment we want to share our love, admiration and gratitude to Akaki and his family who are kind, welcoming and beautiful people. Their guesthouse is a place where you can find home, friends, very interesting and inspiring community of travelers from all over the world, amazing hikes, magnificent night skies full of starts, long evenings by the fire accompanied by great home food and drinks. It is hidden from the business of the city, yet close to everything you could possibly need : co-workings, restaurants, cinema, great second hand shops, burgers and much more. But most importantly its the friendly, inspiring and beautiful place on top of a hill, by the River Side. Dilar & Michael
Nothing! Can't wait to go back there <3

Verified reviewNothing as i could not even stay there....
Booked a triple room 2 months before arrival and when we arrived on the day, it was not available...the guy was dodgy and not being honest...most likely rented it to someone else....tried to make us stay in a very small room with only 2 single beds and a tent...also promised by message that there would be dinner and breakfast available...when there was not....we had to stay at another place that night and paid more... location is not great anyway either...so basically not recommended...first time it happens to me..

Verified reviewHad a great stay at River side Svaneti. Beds were comfortable, kitchen was well equipped, the views from the property are like nothing I have ever seen and the hosts hospitality is great. Couldn’t recommend it more. They also had baby kittens whilst we were there.

Verified reviewThe guesthouse has a beautiful location, outside of the center, in a quiet place, surrounded by lovely and spacious garden, with access to the river, and two places to make the campfire and enjoy gorgeous mountain views . Rooms were clean, beds very comfortable, there's a nicely equipped shared kitchen and living room and it's possible to order a dinner or a breakfast, too.

Verified reviewThe staff are friendly. The room was OK but little space to put the luggages. The owner made the liquor by his own, you can taste and buy if you like.
Sound on the walkway. The kitchen are full of facilities but the electric are not went well. We have to wait so long for cooking. If you don’t like cat, I would not recommend this place.

Verified reviewGreat staff, with wonderful atmosphere Kitchen well equipped but no stove or microwave The property is located next to a river and enables direct and private access to the river.
The room with the private bathroom was extremely small, with no space for private belonging. The washing machine is located at the owners kitchen, with no option to hang the laundry

Verified reviewThe place is a little bit outside of the city in a beautiful nature surrounding. The room was clean and comfortable, WiFi worked properly. There's enough space for parking if you come with your own car. They have a big kitchen that you can use. If you want to sit around the fire place at night just inform the host, he's very kind and helpful and will also give you recommendations for further trips and your travels in Georgia. He's the only person who speaks English though, so make sure to ask for him and don't get frustrated with the other employees, they're also very nice, they just don't speak English. Highly recommended!

Verified reviewThe location is great, and the property is beautiful and very relaxing. Close to Mestia, and up on a hill providing some of the best views in the area. A river runs through the property and there are plenty of places to sit and relax by the water. There is a well-stocked kitchen where you can cook your meals. We had breakfast made by the host and it was delicious. Multiple firepits and plenty of wood is available for having a fire.
I have no comments or suggestions.

Verified reviewThe location is stunning, with a huge garden that has many nice spots to enjoy the nature from making a fire overlooking the mountains to hammocks at the river. The hosts are nice and can help accommodate different tours or transport.
I would recommend booking one of the rooms with bathroom, which are a bit more comfortable. Also, because there is only one toilet and shower (in one room). The property is a bit further out, so it is ideal if you have transport but otherwise for us the host was able to drive us a couple of times.

Verified reviewThis is an amazing place to be! You can sit by the fireplace at night or by the hammocks next to the river. If you go mestia for nature, this truly gives you a chance to experience it. Different breakfast everyday. Very sweets cats that like to cuddle. People were very nice and helpful. Authentic Georgian hospitality. Close to mestia but still far enough for peace and quite.
The beds were a bit small and not the most comfortable. The rooms were small and not a lot of space to unpack our luggage.

Verified reviewI used this guesthouse as a sort of homebase while doing treks throughout Svanetti region. Very helpful family and great food. I slept amazing here listening to the river and village sounds. After long hikes i rested by the river and went for some cold plunges - loved it.
I dont have much negative to say - perhaps they could get a shower curtain since the water kinda goes everywhere:)

Verified reviewThis place will make you feel like home, great place for group of friends to have an amazing time. Great location indeed, with clean and friendly environment. It has a very large yard. From the front yard you go down to a small river, from the back yard you can climb into the forest. Also, it is possible to light a bonfire in the yard. We saw many hotels and I think Riverside is the best hotel in Mestia. Highly recommended, I am sure choosing this place will not let you down. Will definitely go again.

Verified reviewReally cozy guest house. The guest family is super nice and helpful, we felt welcome from the first second. The house is located in a beautiful spot, up a small hill from the road with a nice view. There's also a large vegetable and flower garden and one of our highlights was the access to the river where you can take a bath in the ice cold water after a long day of hiking or just hang out in the hammocks and drink some fresh mountain water from the spring next to it. There are also two cats that are insanely cute and some chickens and cows from time to time. We would recommend this place 100% for anyone who enjoys nature and a cozy, farm-like atmosphere. We even ended up staying an extra night here.
There's nothing to dislike, but if you want to stay in the city center of Mestia, this might not be the place. It's a 2km walk or drive to the central square of Mestia. This didn't really bother us though. It's a nice walk or you can just take your car.
