How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewAll rooms face the mountains and have a gorgeous view. There is a large terrace where you can sit and enjoy your meals or just chill, and they provide blankets when it gets cold. The food was good!
The location is an up-hill 15 min walk from the town center, you will need a taxi. The economy room is too small and not comfortable (the standard room is fine). Also you might have a surprise charge if you did not pay for breakfast in advance (50GEL per-person per-day - more than twice than what you would pay on-line).

Verified reviewThe view of the mountains is just breathtaking. There is a spacious terrace where you can sit and enjoy your meals or just chill, and they provide blankets when it gets cold. The food was good! It is walking distance to a few other hotels on the same altitude (including Rooms hotel) which offer other dining options. All rooms face the mountains and have a gorgeous view.
The location is far from the town center, you will probably need a taxi to get to the supermarket and nearby locations. The economy room is small and uncomfortable (the standard room is fine). Also if you did not pay for breakfast when you reserved on-line, they will charge you 50GEL per-person per-day(!) - more than twice than what you would pay on line (you will discover it when you check out). The pool is small, but still nice to have.

Verified reviewComfortable bed, good shower and lovely views
For a 4 star hotel we were expecting higher standards. Restaurant food is average, breakfast very overpriced (we paid less for 5 star breakfast in Tbilisi!) Blackout curtains in our room were broken, only one toilet roll for two days, no A/C and sleeping with open balcony doors would have been ok but dogs outside bark all night. Reception staff could not be bothered, very unwelcoming. Do not rely on them for information on tours etc. Go to the town’s Visitor Centre instead.

Verified reviewIt’s a new hotel. The staff was very friendly and they have a lovely restaurant with lovely food. Altogether our experience was good, however, there were two setbacks, the lack of shade in the bedroom and the location which is uphill and you can’t(or it’s very hard) to walk to restaurants and supermarkets located in the center of the village.
I didn’t like the fact that in the family room that we booked there was no shade in the bedroom. It of course made sleeping in the morning very hard due to the light. The staff tried to find a solution, but it took two nights before suitable solution was found. My recommendation that if you are a light sleeper, avoid booking the family room and look for other type of room.

Verified reviewit’s a great place to stay. the hosts were very friendly and helpful, and there’s a laundry service available for 10 GEL per bag, which was super convenient. the room was clean and the view from the property is fantastic.
only downsides: the wifi is very slow, and the access road from the main street is rough. not the hotel’s fault ofc, it’s up to the local authorities, but if you’re driving a car with low clearance, it might be tricky getting up there. still, overall a very good experience and would stay again.

Verified reviewThe breakfast was great. The location is good, but takes 10 mins or so to get to the hotel from the main street uphill. The hotel is clean and the rooms look pleasant.
The description for the deluxe suite was misleading: there is no fridge in the room and we had to throw away the take away food because of that. There ladder in the deluxe suite is very steep and looks dangerous. There are no ACs in the rooms and when the day is sunny the building heats up and it is hot to sleep at night. The stuff is polite and helpful but only when you grab their attention: the place looks understuffed and it is difficult to get a service. We asked for a second key from the room, were told to wait because other guests had their requests too, but we never got the key (this is just one example). The restaurant is a bit overpriced and the portions are on the small side: I think they try to be fancy, but it takes more to be fancy than just serving small portions and taking fancy price for the meals. They served main meals at different times, and I waited for my meal after everyone finished theirs (and we were alone in the restaurant).

Verified reviewAlmost nothing.
It was such a bad experience we have ever had. Hotel pictures on booking doesn’t match with reality. There are bungalows in front of the building which we watched their hanged laundry from our balcony. Our room was a family room which is normally bigger than others and its on the ground floor with a small garden but since our check in the room was bad sewer swell coming from the bathroom. First we thought it’s from the room and we left all the doors and windows open and go out for a walk but once we were back the smell was even worse. We called the receptionist and she came down with a guy and he was in( he was drunk) to fix the toilet smell. Then they said all is done we should refresh the weather in the room and the smell will be gone. We kept all the doors and windows open at night where we had our 3 years boy but nothing changed. In the morning we said we couldn’t sleep because of the smell and we requested to change our room but the hotel was fully booked. Unluckily we couldn’t find any availability in any hotels around. During our check out we mentioned all above to the receptionist in detail when we were doing the payment and she just said she is sorry about it. That’s all. Another problem was during the breakfast. They were always running out of coffee at the buffet and once we ask to refill it they were saying that they can make a coffee from the machine but they charge it. We never understood why they don’t just refill it.

Verified reviewWe spent one night at Step Inn – Kazbegi in Stepantsminda, and it exceeded all our expectations. The location is simply perfect – set slightly away from the main road, right at the foot of the mountains, offering peace, quiet, and absolutely breathtaking views of Mount Kazbek. From the panoramic windows of our spacious, bright room, we could admire the majestic mountain scenery for hours, especially during sunrise and sunset. Breakfast deserves special praise – fresh, delicious, and varied, clearly prepared with care. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, creating a warm, homely atmosphere and always ready to help with anything we needed.
If you’re looking for a place to enjoy the beauty of Kazbek, relax in tranquility, and experience true comfort, Step Inn – Kazbegi is the perfect choice.

Verified reviewWe stayed here for one night, and check-in went smoothly. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The room was generally clean, though the curtains were a bit dusty and there were some small insects, but nothing critical. The highlight was definitely the dinner — hearty, delicious, and easily the most soulful hotel dinner we’ve had. The atmosphere was made even better by the owners and their friends relaxing at the next table, playing guitar and singing. It felt like being among family. We were so comfortable that we completely forgot about the bill, and no one disturbed us with it until check-out, which was also handled with the same warmth and ease. If you come late to breakfast, the selection will be limited, and you might need to figure out where to make coffee or tea yourself. The pool didn’t look very fresh, though we didn’t use it. For the perfect mountain escape, an outdoor jacuzzi would be a dream addition.

Verified reviewLovely place to stay! Very nice staff, cute pool, delicious food and incredible views. Highly recommended.
There isn’t a designated parking space and you have to find a spot in front of the hotel somewhere. Also, there isn’t much furniture on the second floor of the two storey room so if you’re staying upstairs, most of your items will have to go on the floor.
