How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewWe had a wonderful stay, we where able to park the car behind a fence. So that was protected. We had nice ac and oké beds. We did a wine tasting one village further up, the host did bring us with his own car. That was really kind of him!
The bathroom was outside of the bedroom. But it was doable and we did have towels.

Verified reviewIf you search for an air air b&b accomodation like room shared with the family (not at the same time :-) with outside shared bathroom this is a clean accomodation in the middle of the vineyards.
You don't pay for rooms dedicated to guests only. Those rooms are used by the family when empty: the wardrobe for instance, present only in one room, was full of stuff. The bathroom is shared with the family and is on the balcony (if it is wet or cold you will freeze). There are free toiletries, no bathroom mat, remember to check the toilet paper before doing your business and try the water because the family may have finished the hot water without turning on the boiler. We arrived at 20.00 (we were expected) and they still had to make the beds. The deluxe room has another bed and a baby bed. A small window that was difficult to open. One of my friend vomited twice on the ground (she couldn't reach the toilet on time). She cleaned with the provided towels in order to try to sleep. It was 2 am and 4 am. We told the family at breakfast. After breakfast we checked out, after only one night out of there (the modified has been approved by them on booking). They started calling me on the phone, writing me on WhatsApp, sending a photo of the car plate telling us they would call the police if we didn't pay the damages, the room was destroyed, we were pigs, we were not human beings and that we had to clean with our clothes. I managed to turn the conversation inside booking chat and asked to provide photos but they didn't provide anything more then insults. We offered to repay the the towels. If I was unfair I could have leaved a 1 point review... When we arrived everything was fine! I had the shower at 23, and since I had soap on, I managed to do my finish the shower. The person who vomited slept in the double room. I had no idea of what happened till the morning and then we told the lady. Maybe she did not understand us. I asked for a change of date. You had the power to accepted it or not. You accepted. You made the mistake.
Firstly, if you didn’t like the hotel you could cancel the reservation. You slept in your vomit the whole night and didn’t ask the family for help. In the morning you didn’t inform the host too, you got the breakfast and requested to change the reservation and leave. If there was not toilet paper or soap why didn’t you request it? At the check-in day when we spoke on the phone we asked if u need anything, you told that everything was okay. In the morning you changed the reservation which we agreed to and didn’t refuse. The real reason you decided to change it was the mess that you caused. We saw everything after you left, the room was in terrible condition. The witnesses of it were the other guests too. We couldn’t take the photos because we forgot it in speed. Staff started to clean immediately to not bother other guests. You cleaned the vomit which was in the whole room with the towels that was for your use, you didn’t inform the staff and left. We called you, you didn’t even answer the calls and blocked our number. We tried to contact with the second number then messaged via the booking and after that you answered us with a lie promise that you would pay for towels. If you were right to the family why didn’t you answer our calls? We had to throw out everything from that room, the mattress, the towels and so on. Our hotel functions for a couple years, we had so many guests from so many countries but nobody has done anything like that. Also you are writing the wrong information. If you didn’t like the hotel you could refuse before check-in and go to another hotel which is many in our province.
