How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe room was large and had everything needed for a comfortable stay, including aircon, ceiling fan, comfortable bed, TV, ensuite bathroom. Jonathan was responsive and helpful and the staff was friendly.
Unfortunately wifi did not work. No kitchen facilities.
We have a full kitchen with all facilities. Local manager should have taken you to the kitchen to show the facilities. The wifi is being fixed by the supplier. Sorry for the inconveniences.

Verified reviewThe environment was clean and welcoming . As well as being in close proximity to the places we visited The bedrooms were nice, and the ensuite bathrooms were clean and presentable. Also, staff members were helpful.
While this is not a dislike, I would like to suggest that a written guide be provided to inform guests about access code to the TV , wifi and where the iron/ board are stored, for example.

Verified reviewThe location of this place was very close to the mall where you can get groceries from shop rite and hot pizza and a bank with an ATM. If you walk, it will take you no less than 20 min. I also like the spacious kitchen and the size of the bedroom with your own private bathroom. The doormen were very polite and helpful.
I didn't like that when we got there, this beautiful place was covered in a think layer of dust, the floors, and table tops. After 28 hours of traveling, all I wanted to was shower and rest. It was an inconvenience for me to have to give time for the hot water to heat but once I got into the shower the water was a rust yellow and that took about 1 day for that to go back to normal. I didn't like that this guest house is a shared space with other guests. The power went out twice, which left us in sweat for about 7 hours due to the owner not being able to stay on top of the energy meter to make sure that the guests were accommodated. The owner and manager seemed very nice but the manager is not a morning person so you will get a response from him once he awakes. I was told that I could wash my clothes but that is not true. The machine was down, and if it was working, they would have someone who they hired to wash them. Overall, this would be my last pick to rent again, and only if there was nothing else in Takoradi. No cable, you would have to watch Netflix or YouTube but only on the living room TV. Once leaving, I was told that you had to pay for your stay with cash/cedis. No card was accepted. To be honest their not ready to be listed on Booking.com.
Many clients from all over the world that we have hosted have been highly satisfied and given wonderful reviews, and they cannot all be wrong. Cassandra, was a unique individual and highly demanding. Our washing machine had broken down unfortunately during her visit, and we notified her we had a mechanic fixing it. We provided alternative means of washing her dirty items, such as using a laundromat very close to our facility, or even an employee hand washing for her. She refused those options. She was wasteful with electricity. We provide air condition in all our rooms. Whenever she and her partner went out of the property, they left the air conditioner on wasting electricity with no one in their room. Ghana continues to have occasional electricity power off called "dumsor"; locally. We have solar power in our facility that powers some AC units and fans during "dumsor". Cassandra complained of the heat even though the solar power was used for powering fan in her room. She had strained communication with the local manager and always called owners in the United States. Rent payment options acceptable to other clients were not appreciated. Cash was not the only option. Electronic transfer to our bank; paying by mobile or momo are other options discussed by mail. The TV in the bedrooms are not digital, but the family room has digital HDTV capable of receiving streaming services like Netflix, You Tube, etc.

Casa Consuelo Guest house is similar to Residence inn. We have a full kitchen available for guests to prepare their own food. We also offer a third party catering for food if requested as used by guest. We are located not too far from shopping market.

Access Road to the facility No in-house food services
We offer the free Wifi, and Gazebo area for relaxation. We are not a major hotel with pool and spa or gym, but proximate to major services in the city. We use catering service for food, and guests enjoyed this food service that was setup at the gazebo. The access road is a city issue that would be resolved in the near future. With Google map and GPS we can easily be found. We are a short distance from the closest intersection.

Verified reviewI liked how neat the place was and how quality the fixtures were. The TV was nice and easy to use, the kitchen had adequate utensils and the bathrooms were really well done
I didn't like the indoor cameras at all, especially the one in the living room. I found it a huge violation of my privacy to have the camera in an indoor space where we are expected to sit and converse and have a good time. We had to be fully dressed, and watch what we spoke about and that completely ruined the experience. There was also a 2-day period where the AC was leaking a lot of water rendering it unusable till it was fixed.
Regarding the AC unit, the guest was moved to a different room with functional AC unit as soon as issue was found by guest. All AC units have been checked and conditioned. Indoor CCTV cameras have been removed. Indoor cameras were never hidden. They were all clearly visible by guests. The camera of concern in the living room by guest Stephen Amaza has been permanently removed.
