How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Verified reviewThis hotel is an absolute gem! From the moment you step inside, it's calm, beautiful, and incredibly well taken care of. The staff were warm and attentive, and every part of the stay felt relaxing and luxurious. Don't be put off by the road leading to it —it's untarred and the entrance is a bit understated, but once you're in, it's like stepping into paradise. Definitely worth! Would highly recommend and can't wait to return.

Verified reviewFrom the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel completely looked after— so attentive, kind, and genuinely caring. Their hospitality really stood out and added such a personal touch to my stay. The rooms were incredibly cozy, with thoughtful details that made it feel like a home away from home. And the lounge -absolutely stunning. So elegant and beautifully styled, it was the perfect place to relax. The photos online truly don't do this place justice-it's even more beautiful in person. I also noticed they're building an extension, and if the current standard is anything to go by, it's going to be 5-star quality. I'm already looking forward to coming back and booking once it's ready!

Verified reviewFirstly, I liked the fact that the staff was very helpful and friendly. I particularly loved the quaint and quiet atmosphere. The lounge was cultural and comfortable and there is a nice pool table in the reception/lobby area that guests have access to. We throughly enjoyed playing the game. Secondly, the rooms were clean and the water for taking showers was wonderfully hot. I definitely recommend travelers to stay here. When I return to Adenta, I will certainly go back to The Cabyn .
I didn't like the road in front of the property. It's a dirt road with small piles of trash on it. It has an alley feel to it, so when our Uber driver was trying to find the place, he almost passed it by because the road did not give the impression that a respectable guesthouse was situated on the side of it. However, once we left the road and entered the grounds, the sense of quality and value welcomed us. Also, the pool/jacuzzi was not working due to maintenance work being done on it. That was a bit disappointing, but all the good things The Cabyn offered made up for this.

Verified reviewThe place was quiet, very secluded. The staff was very friendly.
The food. I got sick off the tuna with salad 🥗 which I believe it was food poisoning. The Jollif Rice was fried and tasted and smelled like rubber, which caused my husband to get sick. For 4 days, we were vomiting 🤢 with diarrhea , and we got antibiotics from the pharmacy next door. In the remaining 3 days, we found a Nigerian spot that cooked Egusi Soup, which we could eat. I noticed working as a health inspector for 40 years, and I didn't see any fresh inventory coming into the Caybn. It concerned me that food was expired in the refrigerator and the pantry. The drinks in the refrigerator in the lobby also tasted expired. Also, I the bathroom was not cleaned appropriately because I had to buy products to clean the toliet and wipe down the desk and sink. We had yo adk gor a cleN comforter with pillow cases as this was not done each time the room was cleaned.

We pride ourselves in offering only the best, freshly cooked to your preference so we were saddened by your experience. Kindly allow me to address the issues you faced. During the first week of your stay, you solely ate food prepared by us and had no issues. Both you and your husband profusely complimented our jollof rice and tuna salad. In the second week of your stay however, you explored other food options in the neighborhood ( which you mentioned to our front staff) so it would be unfair to blame us for a tummy bug, wouldn’t you say? Your husband continued to eat breakfast prepared in our kitchen for the full duration of your stay without a problem. As a hotel guest, it is very unlikely that you would notice stock being brought into the kitchen. Also, drinks sold by us have a clearly labelled expiry date on the neck of bottles or under the cans. In regard to room cleaning, you stated you wanted this done every other day. On some days we had to remind you that your room needed cleaning, on some occasions you even refused. We wish you had mentioned any issues with cleaning, it would have been rectified immediately. We sincerely apologize that the room was not cleaned to your satisfaction.
