The breakfast was awesome. I ordered the continental as room service. There was so much food. The room was large with a separate entry area. The bathroom was nice and big and modern and clean.

The walk to/from town was downhill/uphill so not great for unfit people. We were fine but elderly people would struggle.

Extremely clean room, food is very good, drinks especially cocktails are superb with a big menu, pool is fantastic to use with trees and greenery surrounding, very calming. Hotel is full of history and staff are very polite, enthusiastic, go above and beyond to make sure you have a great time.

Breakfast variety has become a little less.

Stunning harbour view from the room balcony and the hotel restaurant/breakfast area. Spacious, new-looking and clean room, albeit the teaspoons in the room looked unclean.

Hostile and aggressively rude female staff at reception. My passport’s main page also came back folded after this person handled it during check in. This is very serious and could have caused me issues travelling. The hotel and other staff members, who are generally excellent, are let down by this person.

The room and beds were really comfortable. Air conditioning in the rooms was great. A lovely breakfast outside with lots of choice and very fresh. Bar, lounge and pool area were all great and resonably priced.

Unfortunately we had hoped for a gym but there wasn't one.

The staff are brilliant, the food is great, the location is handy for town but far enough removed that a good sleep is easy. This is not a cheap hotel… it enjoys a reputation for looking after its guests, the more famous of whom are proudly displayed on the walls. It still lives up to that in terms of the guest/staff relationship for sure. The room was a bit small, but had a good view and I was only in it for wash and sleep anyway. There’s a lot to take in for such a small territory, give yourself 3 full days minimum in Gib. Outside of the newer parts of town (built on reclaimed land) and inland from its coast it is a by nature a predominantly hilly/mountainous territory. If you struggle with hill climbing you’ll need taxis to get about.

Not so much “I didn’t like”, just observations. You’ll probably want to visit the Rock itself. You can go up by cablecar and they give you a tag that grants access to the attractions up there. StMichaels caves are stunning. However, you’d best be really fit and love pushing yourself really hard, it’ll probs take you the whole day to do it all even if you are. That option will at time of writing cost you £49. For a quid more I took a minibus taxi tour which took 2 hrs and fitted the majority of it in. The folks who operate it are pleasant in demeanour and knowledgeable on the history of each part of the tour. The Barbary apes are a hoot…this from our guide.. “the youngsters will hop on you for a photo, but don’t try to pet them. The adults need to be treated with caution and respect but are peaceful unless provoked, if they feel you’re threatening the young they’ll react strongly, so don’t pet them”. All in all I really enjoyed my time in Gib. However, be mindful of the following… 1. taxis outside of tours are expensive, there are local buses, if you can, use them. 2. The Rock Hotels pool is across the road from the hotel on the edge of the botanical gardens. Road is busy, some locals drive like lunatics, exercise caution when crossing. Has change facilities and toilets. Also a pleasant bar with food available, so you can spend as long down there as you wish. 3. Hotel uses Gibraltar pounds, takes uk sterling with no surcharge but paying cash in euros comes with a punitive surcharge. I do suggest you use cash as you go along as your checkout bill can take you by surprise if you sign for everything. I kept the receipts and totted up against their printout. It was honest, but not cheap.

The view from the room was lovely.

The breakfast was terrible value for money. It was cold, the bacon was rock hard and dry. Not much options for healthy breakfast for things like melons etc. The pool was in a different location to the hotel which you diced with death crossing that very bust main road. The shower room was lethal for myself as walking out of the shower there was a towel holder I kept bashing my head on. Room 221

Everything except reception staff service really. The new pool area is beautiful. Little confused why the pool is salt water though. My daughter was in tears after getting it in her eyes not knowing before hand. I think a sign would be a good idea just so guests are aware before entering the water.

Reception Staff were not terribly welcoming or cheerful. Surprised by thier lack of fluency to communicate effectively in English. Have stayed here before and staff then were lovely and always with a smile.
