Clean spacious room, good breakfast, tasty simple bufet dinner for very low price, comfortable bed, small kitchen and fridge (we had family room)

Placed out of city, but is not so much disturbing

The hotel is near the airport. Standing on the balcony on the 2nd floor, we can see beautiful views of the fjord.

Overall we were very satisfied, communication with the staff before and during the holiday was excellent. The room was clean (room cleaning very good) and comfortable. Nice view of the fjord. Free transfers to and from the hotel were useful.

The breakfasts were tasty, but soon the sweet pastries were eaten, which were not replenished.

The facility is good and love the atmosphere. Staffs are very friendly and helpful.

Payment at this hotel was chaotic. Part of my stay was charged in advance, but surprisingly, another part was not (why not???, the reservation confirmation indicated that I would be charged in advance). This resulted in unexpected discussions at checkout and more than 150usd of phone call costs to verify with bank and booking.com what had been paid already. Booking.com does not help to prevent this situation. That booking.com just charges amounts without any booking reference number or exchange rate indication makes it impossible to track which stays have been charged already, with some charged immediately on booking, some at check-in, and some others at any stage in between (?? why even have this possibility?).

I stayed here for one night only, so my opinion might be limited. That said, what I managed to experience in this short time was truly amazing and exceeded all my expectations! My room was so spacious and clean, my bed was enormous and incredibly soft, and I even had a private kitchenette - something that I did not expect at all. I would even say that my room was better than in some 5-star hotels in which I stayed previously. The ladies at the reception were also friendly, kind, helpful and caring. They answered all my questions and even gave me some advice about the city, which made my short stay in Ilulissat much more pleasant and convenient. One can also pay with a bank card here, which is tremendously convenient, and as a person who cannot stand paying in cash, I especially appreciate it. I further had an amazing view from my room of beautiful snowy mountains - but this surely depends on your luck with your room location. Breakfast is included, and while it offered only some basics, it was still really handy because I had an early morning flight. A cherry on the cake is that this hotel offers free transfers from/to both the airport and the harbour. Thus, it was easy and convenient to get to/from here. The only thing that might concern some people is the hotel's location. It is relatively far from all the most important landmarks, being located on the opposite side of the city from pretty much everything - but I personally did not mind it at all because I love walking. Also, in return for this relatively distant location, you get amazing views from the hotel itself and its nearby area and can see the city, the ocean and many icebergs from above. To sum up, I definitely recommend this hotel to everyone who is looking for affordable accommodation in Ilulissat.

In my view, there is only one really small thing (which is nothing compared to all the positive points) for further improvement. After I moved out, I got a couple of messages from the hotel in a completely random language - it was neither Danish, English, Greenlandic, nor the language I use on booking.com. For some time, I did not have a proper Internet connection to translate those messages and became really worried if I left something in the hotel or did something wrong at the check-out - only to learn later that those were just some auto-generated marketing messages. It is true that nowadays we can use machine translation and understand what was in those messages, but I think it would be more logical and convenient for everyone if those messages were sent just in English (or even translating them from Danish or Greenlandic, rather than from a random language, would make much more sense).

Hotel Soma is located outside the town of Ilulissat just down the road from the Hotel Arctic. The rooms are clean and comfortable with good Wi-Fi. A Danish breakfast is served every morning and good catered hot meals are available every evening for 125 DK. The center of town and the Ilulissat Icefjord World Heritage Site are a walkable distance from the hotel for reasonably fit people. Otherwise, I believe there is a bus that visitors can take to the main tourist sites in town. The staff at the hotel is excellent and helpfully arranged for me to stay another night after my flight was canceled. I highly recommend Hotel Soma. Travel tip: If you want some great views of the ice bergs, walk over to the Hotel Arctic and have a drink on the outdoor patio.

Friendly staff, great hotel, good for watching Aurora Borealis because it is a bit away from the town center. So, good conditions to see the polar light.

View of a bay packed with icebergs. Lovely staff who were very helpful, and drove me to the airport at the end of my stay. There was a fridge and plates/cutlery in the room which was really useful. Comfy bed, and bug screens at the windows/door to the veranda.

Better coffee would have been good! It's quite a long trek to the main part of the town and the harbour, so take that into account if it bothers you — but there is a bus

No elevator and I asked for help with luggage a head of time which was agreed to, but not given at time of moving luggage up the buildings stairs Kitchenette room would be good for someone not on a tour for a longer stay
