How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe location was in walking distance of the beach and a supermarket. The room was beautiful with a wonderful view. The grounds were well kept, the pool was clean, the sun beds were comfortable. The staff were very helpful and checking in and out was a breeze.
The accommodations and facilities are built on the side of a steep hill and can be an effort if you are staying further up.

Verified reviewSuch a lovely hotel ! Our room was fabulous, newly refurbished I believe. The restaurant food was great. Only 8 minutes walk to the most beautiful beach and Deshaies was about ,25 min walk. I loved the outside kitchen area too.
Wasn't easy to get a taxi but that wasn't the hotel's fault, but good to know in advance I think.

Verified reviewComfortable bed, good shower which unfortunately broke, but was immediately repaired.
Room on the small side, so with big cases for a short stay difficult to access clothes etc Small fridge, made smaller cos no restraint for bottles in door. Parking quite a trek to room. Confusion at reception re opening hours for dinner Enjoyable dinner but menu limited. Breakfast, both mornings buffet ran out of various items including coffee, needs extra staff to supervise and avoid shortages
Thank you for your comment and feedback, which we take very seriously. The Habitation Grande Anse Hotel has 65 accommodations in various categories, from the standard 28m² studio to the 160m² apartment. For your next stay, you can choose the size that best meets your expectations. Regarding breakfast, I understand your concern, but very often people arrive at the same time. We make quick eggs and quick crepes, and the same goes for pastries to ensure everything is piping hot, so there is sometimes a bit of a wait. We hope to welcome you back during your next stay.

Verified reviewThe location is good and the overall ambience of the site is really nice. Our room size was good and we really liked the size and aspect of the outside kitchen. The pool was adequate and there was always a free sun lounger to use. Our particular apartment (number 51) was really well situated, we wouldn't have liked to have been further up the hill. Reception staff were helpful on check in, check out and arranging trips. The breakfast was adequate, if not exciting.
We had real issues with the onside restaurant 'Le Papillon' and the attitude of the manager. We had reserved 2 evening meals some weeks in advance. We experienced really slow service for the first meal and the food was not great for the money, especially the Creole salad starter which was tasteless. For our second dinner the restaurant said that they didn't have a record of our booking and that (even though the restaurant wasn't full and is open to the public) that the chefs didn't like to cater for 'walk-ins' as they like to know how many meals they were going to cook in advance! When we showed our email confirmation of our booking, we didn't receive any apology, just a begrudging invitation to take a table. We then waited over half an hour to been given a menu or be asked what we would like to drink, so we told the manager that we didn't feel welcome and left to have dinner in town. We did give this feedback to staff at the reservations desk when we checked out. The walkway to our apartment had muddy footprint on the white tiles which weren't cleaned off for nearly a week. The supplies in the kitchen were REALLY basic, it would have been so much better with a few more items of crockery and more glasses.

Verified reviewThe property village has recently been refurbished and looks like new. The location is great as you can walk to the main beach in 5 minutes. The staff is very polite and helpful.
There was a shortage of car parking spaces, especially when you return in the evening.

Verified reviewA great hotel close to Grande Anse. Our room was clean and comfy with all we needed for a four night stay. There was plenty of parking. The pool was clean and never over busy during our stay. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel and both were good.
Just to be aware that some rooms require a climb up a steep hill. We noticed that if we came later to breakfast that the choice became more limited so you needed to ask.

Verified reviewWe had a great view from our room. Balcony and outdoor kitchen excellent. Bed was mega comfy! Airco was quiet and efficient. Swimming pool clean and not too far from our room. The staff were really helpful and we were so pleased that they could speak English as we had been struggling for 2 weeks in Guadeloupe!! Very close to a lovely beach and a short walk to a petrol station/shop.
When I booked I had no idea that I had only booked "habitation" and we were informed that when our toilet roll and toiletries ran out thay wouldn't be replenished. Also, we were only entitled to one clean during our stay. We had to get a car and drive to a supermarket and I had to take our rubbish out everyday. The restaurant and bar opening hours are very limited and there isn't much closeby for lunch or snacks. On the whole it was very expensive for the facilities/service provided. A shuttle bus service into the town would have been very welcome as we only had a car for one day so we walked (it's quite far) because there are no public buses. Also, pool towels would have been a nice addition.
hank you for your warm comments. Regarding the formulas there are 2: a hotel formula with daily cleaning and breakfast, and the residence formula with optional cleaning and breakfast with extras. We always offer an arrival kit.

Verified reviewExcellent location very close to Guadeloupe top beach. The rooms are airy and comfortable, ours was quite high up with a beautiful view over the gardens. Staff was helpful and very friendly
No warning about the restaurant being closed and no options for catering on location. We didn’t have a car and had to taxi to the closest village for food each time
