How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThis is a super stylish, super relaxed hotel. We went as a family of 4, and it was perfect. I was worried it was too stylish for my loud and excitable boys, but it had such chill vibes it was actually perfect. Great continental breakfast included every morning. And a great restaurant and bar on site with exceptional freshly cooked food. The staff were super approachable and always willing to help - whether that was letting us borrow their phone charger on our first night or even giving us a taxi ride into Oia one evening. The location was perfect for us. You can easily walk (uphill) into the town on Oia within 20 minutes or hire a car from the super friendly local companies and explore the whole island. Fira, perissa & Kamari were our personal favourites. A lot less crowed than Oia and definitely more family budget friendly. All within 30 minutes of the hotel. The sunset views every evening were exceptional from our hotel and we had panoramic sea views all across the hotel. The bedrooms were cleaned every day by the sweetest maids who always had smiles on their faces. Highly recommend 👌
Became super busy on Sundays as the public are free to use the facilities too. Other than that, we wouldn't change a thing.

Verified reviewFantastic location, so close to the town and beach, you can be in the main town within 5minute walk. The staff were super helpful and friendly - the rooms were lovely. We had a room overlooking the pool and it had a great atmosphere. The bar staff were so lovely and great drinks. There was a lovely courtyard to sit and have breakfast.

Verified reviewMy stay at Hotel Amethyst Luxury Suites in Oia was absolutely breathtaking! The hotel's stunning views, elegant decor, and exceptional service made for an unforgettable experience. Our suite was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The staff were friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure our needs were met. I will deeply thanks to Stella our host she is very good in hosting and help us for transfers. The hotel's amenities, including the pool and sun deck, were perfect for relaxing and taking in the views. Oia is a picturesque village, and Hotel Amethyst Luxury Suites is the perfect base from which to explore it. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a luxurious and memorable stay in Santorini.

Verified reviewThe room was very spacious and well lit. We loved the bed and the giant toilet. This is not a hotel; it is a resort with a lovely small pool, bar, and complimentary breakfast (we were surprised that the breakfast was free). The owner and the staff are fantastic and very helpful. The cocktails, salads and other dishes were awesome.
This is a suggestion, and not particularly what we didn't like. The hotel is a bit far from Oia (30–40-minute walk), so the property will be attractive if the resort can provide a free drop-off (maybe every 1 hour). This isn't a problem if you want to explore Fira, Imerovigli, and other parts of Santorini/Thira because there is a bus stop just outside the resort and buses are plying every 20-30 minutes. If you are traveling from the Port/Ferry to the hotel, do not take a Taxi from the Port (It costs 50 Euros). Take a bus to Fira, and from Fira take a bus to Oia (get off at Ecoxenia bus stop)

Verified reviewThe hotel is beautiful and well decorated. The pool area is lovely and has some nice sun chairs.
The room really lacked necessities as a hanger for the towel by the sink and more storage for bathroom supplies and things in general. It was very minimalistic. The shower head was very used and almost broken. The view from the jacuzzi in our room was a bit sad as there was a parking lot right out in front. The room is very noisy and it was very loud when other people used water or closed doors. The food was prettier than it tasted and quite pricy compared to the quality. In general our feeling was the the luxury-part was a bit upscale compared to the experience.

Verified reviewWe loved the room - very minimalist style. The hot tub with the sunset views were a nice way to spend the evenings. Really liked the communal pool area - always a choice of lounges available even when the place was fully booked. Breakfast (some hot items like omelette and eggs, yoghurt, fruit, pastries, toast, juices, cheese, cold cuts, toast and hot drinks) was included which was a nice touch. We ate at the restaurant several times - the gyros there are recommended as well as the feta cheese with honey. Christos is a great host and always around the site or responsive on WhatsApp prior and during my stay.
Location has its pros and cons. The walk to Oia takes about 20-30mins, uphill towards Oia but downhill on the way back. Well lit and safe. We enjoyed being away from the busy areas. We did rent a moped for 3 days which helped with getting around the island. No cups or kettle supplied with the room.

Verified reviewThe property was beautiful, spacious rooms, and well kept! Staff was helpful!
It was about a 30 minute walk from the main area, a shuttle to the main town would’ve been highly appreciated! Also the airport shuttle is 50 euros; not free.

Verified reviewThis place is absolutely beautiful!! It’s not located where the busy part of Oia is but that’s a plus for a pleasant sleep, especially to enjoy the hot tub outside. You can almost see the sunrise from here but also the sunset. Facilities are great and the Staff is amazing!!! Maria was exceptionally helpful with check in, recommendations and telling us how to get around, she’s the real MVP! Niko at the bar was great too, great at his job! Even Adam, the cook, was great and made a delicious breakfast every morning ✨ I would stay here again any time! The staff and shared spaces made the difference and we had a very pleasant time!
It’s close to Oia where you can watch the sunset and take the cute pictures but it is a bit of a walk uphill even to the bus station (about 10min), so if you have mobility issues it might not be convenient. Also, don’t get there too early as reception only opens at 9:30 am. We had to wait from 6am (shared spaces are open though, and there’s a bathroom you can use) just nowhere to leave your bags. Other than this, definitely a great place to stay in Oia!
