It doesn't seem that there was any real effort to make your stay too comfortable. There is some sfuff stored in the room's "attic", some furniture placed illogically (a cabin half blocking the entrance to the toilet), the toilet bowl itself has been the star of some bad reviews in the past, and we totally agree it is not fit - why not replace it?? Another important point: It is quite challenging to find your way to the property, and you best hire a porter at the gate if you have a suitcase. But this is not communicated by the property staff... Why? It would only help your customers be happier, and takes no effort at all.

This is not your (or at least my) natural choice. I loved the fact that we were staying inside the castle! The narrow alleys and twisting lanes. The room itself is spacious and there is even a sea view from the small windows. You can actually experience (to an extent) how it felt leaving inside a castle in the ancient times... I enjoyed it a lot!

I really liked the location. Fantastic location. I liked the traditional style of the room and that it was spacious.

I think door to the accommodation needed fixing which I know Byron was sorting out. I didn't have much bad to say about the place. We really liked it.

The locations was really good. Its handy that Byron runs a wine tasting venue below the accommodation. The location is really nice and well worth a visit. I would recommend staying here but pack lightly as taking luggage's through the the hilly, rocky streets are tricky. Although there are porters scattered around but they were not available when we came so we ended up having to take everything by ourselves. The rocky streets adds character and makes the area beautiful.

The location is far from the main gate and in the dark very difficult to find, the signage is lacking. The room is up very narrow and difficult stairs, more like a ladder than stairs. We managed but it should be made clearer as people with mobility problems, even slightly, would struggle. There was a fridge and a kettle but no cutlery or crockery apart from mugs and glasses. No tea towel or washing up liquid. No liners in the bins. The shower in the photos was not in place and the photos of the outside space are misleading as the bar was closed and the entrance was not even at the bar but round the back and less than inviting. Lock on door is the opposite to what you would think and took us several attempts to get in. Info on these things would have been helpful. Definitely things to improve on but only small things letting it down and better information would benefit future guests.

Monemvasia is amazing and to appreciate it fully a stay within the city is a must. The bed was very comfortable and it was great to get a kettle and a fridge. The view was lovely.

The toilet doesn’t flush properly. When we arrived there was a poo already in the toilet. The wifi barely reaches the room. The door is difficult to close. The bed is not comfortable at all. The kettle is so dirty it’s not usable. There are no teaspoons provided. Towels are about 10 years old. Really needs a lot of improvement.

If you choose to stay at Byron`s, you choose to stay in an authentic, traditional, 10-centuries old house, with all the pros and cons linked with this choice. It is very well located, the building itself is beautiful, you have nice views from the room and the owners are super nice. Dinner can be served downstairs at good prices. The value for money was not so good, but all accommodation in Monemvasia are expensive. The only major con is the bathroom, it needs to be fully renovated.

Nothing, everything was good

Spacious character room in a historic building right in the heart of the Castro. Comfortable beds, hot water, lovely view, private entrance, we loved it.
