This Hotel was ideally situated near a small seaside village of Pera Gialos, which had many tavernas and small bars to enjoy drinks. We had a beautiful panoramic sea view from our room and balcony. Transport is well organised, and our bus stop was only 100 metres away. From the moment we walked in, the staff treated us like family.They are all exceptional. I would highly recommend staying here.

We spent six unforgettable days here for our honeymoon, and everything was perfect. The location is excellent, with breathtaking views of the castle, the iconic windmills, and the sea—especially during breakfast, which featured delicious homemade goods. The hostesses and all the personnel were incredibly kind, welcoming, and attentive. They took care of everything for us: arranging taxis and transportation, booking day trips, and sharing excellent recommendations for dining and activities. Their warm hospitality made us feel truly special—from the thoughtful welcome, to the wine and fruit on our last night, and the lovely gift at our departure. We couldn’t have wished for a better place to relax, recharge, and enjoy this special time together.

The thing I didn't like was to go back from Chrysalis 😔 I will stay much longer next time!

The moment we entered in Chrysalis Hotel, we were welcomed in the most sympathic and warmest way possible. Front desk team Iliana oriented us immediately about Astypalaia must do's and must go's and she also immediately found us a car at a good rental price. The view of hotel is breath taking, the rooms, the breakfast!! are superior as well. I was in between staying in Chora and Port (where Chrysalis is) and I understood how correct choice I have made :) Don't hesitate one second to chose this amazing hotel, you will get pampered every second with its facilities and the hotel team's sweetness ...

Where do I even begin? Staying at Chrysalis Boutique Hotel in Astypalea was hands down the best travel experience of my life. This place is not just a hotel — it’s a whole vibe, a feeling, a memory I’ll treasure forever. From the moment I arrived, everything felt taken care of. The hotel offers a shuttle service from the port or airport, which made things super smooth. And from there… it just kept getting better. The views are absolutely insane — like movie-scene levels of gorgeous. The hotel itself is spotless, beautifully designed, and just radiates peaceful energy. It’s also perfectly located: super close to the center, but quiet enough that you still feel like you're in your own private little Greek paradise. You can walk to town or take the local bus (they even help you set it up on your phone — shoutout to that next-level guest service!). Speaking of the team: Giannis is hilarious, super helpful and full of great local tips. And the rest of the staff? Kind, thoughtful, always making sure you're happy. I was traveling solo and they made me feel so cared for — never once alone. There were little surprises too, like a beautiful rosé wine with fresh fruit left in my room halfway through my stay... just because. Who does that? They do. Because they care. Honestly, if I could rate it 11/10, I would. It’s not just a hotel — it’s an experience, and one I wish I could bottle up and carry with me everywhere. To the entire team at Chrysalis: thank you for making me feel so welcome, so seen, and so special. You made this solo traveler feel like she had a whole family waiting for her in Astypalea. I’m already dreaming of coming back.

We learnt to switch off the air con at night which prevented being woken up by smells from other rooms. (Doable in Sept). Also for a few days there was a noisy group staying and using the hotel to gather with other family too, so the usually tranquil location was spoilt at times.

Incredible views and location, a relaxing stay. Very clean and comfortable rooms, with lovely decoration and lighting. A luxury having perfectly made bed and clean towels, special thanks to housekeeping staff Shorena and Otto. Also thanks for efforts with almond milk available at breakfast.

The hotel location was just great and the view was amazing . The hotel was very clean , room was spacious and decor was beautiful . The breakfast was a nice touch and we had the choice to take it in our room or at the terrace. The hotel staff were friendly and very helpful . Totally recommend

Overall, we loved it and will be back. Few suggestions: - more variety of coffee capsules in the room will be appreciated especially as they are being charged. - shower needs stronger light. - most importantly, the mattresses need to be improved as they are too thin for a cement bed base.

Perfect location, 10-15 mins walk to the town and the castle via beautiful small streets. The staff is outstanding, very professional, organized, polite and welcoming, we were really happy to meet them and interact with them. The views are stunning and definitely we will remember them for long time. Good quality coffee machine in the room with capsules which is not very common in Greek islands. Amazing, tailored breakfast - loved the zero waste philosophy and eco-friendliness of the hotel.

No real negatives just a couple suggestions - some more dairy free and gluten free options and fruit variety for breakfast would be great (know it can be tricky getting supplies to the islands but there are some very well stocked supermarkets). The early breakfast for an early flight departure for example, which is a lovely touch, was gluten based so couldn’t eat it. The shutters were missing with blinds instead so we missed the blackout effect, but hung a towel up so that was fine. Smells travelled through the air con between rooms, was usually ok, but some unpleasant perfumes in our first couple days which fortunately departed. The dark bathroom was tricky at first but we got used to it! The daily dessert offered in the afternoon was a nice touch and we felt bad declining everyday, but was either too sugary for us or with gluten/cow’s milk. We would much prefer some complimentary fruit or a daily bottle still/sparkling water in the fridge/room.

A beautiful hotel with great design and lay out, ensuring all rooms and terraces profit from the fantastic view. We loved the lighting, the view from the terrace, the exceptionally clean rooms with lovely bedding and towels. The privacy, discretion and quiet were really appreciated, and it was also lovely not to feel like we had to rush out to vacate the room for cleaning (and often it wasn’t easy leaving the luxury of that view with coffee and reading on the terrace!) We thank Anna, Marina and Nikita on reception for helping us have such a wonderful, healthy and relaxing holiday. Particular thanks to Anna for helping with the hire car and very good advice for a nervous driver/passenger on the cliff roads and tracks of the island!) And Nikita’s map was really useful thanks. And also a big thank you to the cleaning staff and room service team, the cleaning really was exceptional and what a luxury having breakfast delivered to our terrace every morning. Thanks to Marina and all the team for such a lovely stay, and apologies for delay with review - today on a dark, cold wintery day in UK we definitely wish we were back there now!

Beautiful location on hillside overlooking the harbour and Chora old town with Kastro castle on hill opposite. Welcoming hosts and spacious, clean and well equipped accommodation. Wonderful bespoke breakfasts too.

Having to leave

Stunning location and amazing views from the bedrooms and terraces. Lovely breakfast available in your room or on a terrace. Very tasteful decoration throughout. Best of all though are the staff-so friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble, from free airport transfers ;car hire and tips for beaches, places to eat and sites to visit. Anna and Marina deserve special mention.

Our experience at Chrysalis was unforgettable! Everything was perfect. We were upgraded to the Junior suite which had stunning views of the ocean and Chora. It was so perfect in fact, that we got engaged on the balcony! Hands down, the best level of service we have ever experienced at a hotel. Marina and Anna were fantastic hosts and helped us organized car hire (which we highly reccomend for exploring the island) Astypalea will forever have a special place in our heart. We will certainly be back!
