How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewWe loved the location, as it was quiet and away from the hustle and bustle but it was close enough to walk to the amenities and beach. Ideal. The pool and pool gardens were beautifully maintained and such a blessing on the hot summer days. The managers, Stuart and Sandra were brilliant. They made us feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble.
The room could have benefitted from being better serviced with a few more pieces of self catering equipment. Although the fridge freezer was awesome!

Verified reviewAbsolutely loved our stay at Cost Mari Aoartments. So comfortable and relaxing. The room we were allocated was on the high floor overlooking the pool, the room was very spacious, absolutely loved coming back to our room to chill on the balcony. The pool area is nice and clean, Stuart tends to the garden and pool area every day and it is spotless. Sandra cleans the rooms and they are very well looked after and cleaned to high standards. The apartments are in a fabulous location just minutes from the beach and many restaurants, supermarkets, etc. I want to say a huge thank you to both Stuart and Sandra, they went above and beyond to make us feel very welcome. We were very sad to leave and will be back for sure. Sam & Liam

Verified reviewThank you Stuart and Sandra for the warm welcome. We booked a room for 11 days. Stuart gave us a very bright room with two balconies and a view of the pool, at the front door a terrace with a view of the mountains. The room had everything you need for a comfortable stay, everything for cooking, clean linen, very comfortable beds. Fresh towels were changed every two days. Stuart and Sandra kindly helped to make our stay more comfortable. Since we arrived late in the evening, the manager helped us find our room, met us. Also helped us with a taxi number, at an affordable price with air conditioning. In the backyard there is a clean pool, my son and I spent some time near it. We met wonderful neighbors by the pool. The hotel also has umbrellas for the beach. A wonderful place to relax, close to the beach and wonderful people Stuart and Sandra were always very kind. There are few words to express our gratitude, we were happy to choose this hotel.
The punctual and hospitable manager helped us with all additional requests and questions. Therefore, we are happy with everything.

Verified reviewPerfect apartment for our needs. Top location, just a few minutes from the beach, taverns and shops. Good size and clean pool in a nice garden. The host Stuart took good care of us. The kitchen was adequately equipped to prepare a proper dinner. Warmly recommend and would return if in Almyrida.

Verified reviewFor me, Cost Mari is perfect. Tucked away in a quiet corner, but only a few minutes walk to the beach, tavernas and shops. The accommodation description is very accurate. The pool area is a beautiful little oasis - immaculately presented. The rooms are exceptionally clean and the kitchen is very well equipped, should you wish to self cater. If you don't have something you need, Stuart, the Manager, can usually find it for you. Good air conditioning is also a life saver. A special mention to Stuart, who is always available, extremely responsive, and helpful, without fussing too much over you - perfect. Almyrida is a lovely, small resort - lots of tavernas but fairly quiet and just a 35 minute taxi ride from Chania Airport. I'd highly recommend Cost Mari - it's a little gem.

Verified reviewGreat location close to beach and super restaurants within a few minutes walk. Room 7 had good size rooms and balcony. Communal pool and garden was clean and well maintained. Manager Stuart was very helpful with advice and nothing was too much trouble, especially when we locked ourselves out one evening!
Bathroom door was a bit quirky but got the hang of it by the end of the week! Car parking could be a bit tight at times.

It was a last minute booking so I appreciate that room availability was limited. Our room was a little dark with no private outside space. The floor in the bathroom did get very wet when using the shower due to the drainage & design.

Verified reviewEverything. Couldn’t fault it. Situated close to the beach, but also felt quiet and secluded in the beautiful garden. Super clean swimming pool was wonderful to relax in, after a day at the beach. The apartment was tastefully decorated and super clean. Lovely towels and bedding. Wonderful shower. Kitchen had everything we needed. Private patio. Stuart the Manager was a Super host. Nothing was a bother. Extremely helpful with information about the area. We loved Almyrida, if we return we would definitely stay at Cost Mari again.
Property was wonderful. Stuart is doing a first class job. Nothing we didn’t like.
