Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesMy only complaint is that the door to our room was tough to handle, especially with weakened 'old' hands. But by the end of our stay, I think I finally figured out how to work the lock and door handle.
A beautiful little hotel that has captured its history with original wood walls, antiques throughout and yet updated for modern comfort. Also the breakfast was plentiful and good.

United KingdomThe steps up to reception. A sign saying leave your luggage at the street level would avoid unnecessary handling.
Beautiful building that has been sensitively renovated. Nice breakfast, very quiet, no street noise.

United KingdomNothing at all, it really is a gem!
Beautifully decorated, intimate and cosy with all modern cons - absolute heaven and I slept so well! I’ve been to Hydra a number of times and this is now by far my preferred place to stay.

United KingdomI didn’t like not having any outside space to room- however this was my choice as other rooms that had outside space were on 2 floors. breakfast wasn’t to my taste as a lot of sweet stuff- to be honest though I find this in most Greek hotels - so more a taste thing on my part
Nice location- gentle slope from port - big room - exceptionally good quality bedding and towels- very friendly manager/owner

United StatesIt was a hike up the road, but by the third day it wasn't so bad.
The hotel is beautiful. There are so many antiques decorating the building. Breakfast was amazing every morning. The staff could not have been friendlier. The walk to the hotel did not have stairs you just had to be careful walking on the stone road.

United StatesThere was nothing about this property we didn't love. The only possible negative would be that it is not on the waterfront, as some people really want that experience. As I said, this hotel far exceeds our waterfront hotel experience on Hydra.
I cannot express how pleased we were with our stay here. Due to a booking snafu, we had to split our two night stay at two separate locations. So, we booked this hotel for our second night at the last minute. The first night was spent at a more expensive hotel with a waterfront view. However, after staying at the Cotommate Hydra 1810, we wished we had stayed both nights there. The staff was incredibly sweet and helpful- arranging luggage transfer and making dinner reservations for us as well. This was far superior to the treatment at our first location. The room was lovely with a historical feel, but with modern conveniences. Special touches included sampling of homemade cherry preserves and a sweet local to Hydra. The breakfast in the morning was outstanding with a huge variety of dishes to please diverse tastes. The grounds are spectacular as well with a lovely garden and terrace overlooking the countryside that was a lovely spot in the evening. It is only a five minute walk (maybe) from the bustle of the harbor but so tranquil and peaceful compared to our noisy experience staying by the waterfront. Overall, the experience felt more like being welcomed into a family home than a hotel. Absolutely fantastic! I highly recommend this location, and would be ecstatic to get to go back again sometime in the future! Thank you!!

SwitzerlandOur room was very close to the entry and reception and did not feel very private.
Nice breakfast buffet. Room comfortable and the house is at a good location (close to the sea front but in a calm street). Yiannis explained what is where on the island and suggested some nice activities.

United StatesBeing a historic mansion with much of the furnishings still original and restored, things are pretty, but not modern. AC could be little better, but was acceptable. Bathroom little cramped, lot of water splashing. No big deal.
One of the original mansions converted to a pretty, historic hotel. Loved all the courtyards, balconies, sitting areas, little gardens. Very friendly and helpful staff. Thank you Yanni! Location perfect, 300 yards from the port; busy, touristy area with all the restaurants and shops. But the hotel itself is in very quiet, peaceful area. Breakfast was nice, maybe should be more varied from day to day. Classic Greek breakfast.
