Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNot dislikes more tips * bring shoes suitable to walk up/down steep hill to the town (10 minutes) Or get taxi back €6 * bring everything and anything that kills mosquitoes and treats bites! (there are already nets on the beds) *it’s a rustic property so don’t expect all modern facilities but it has all you need
Lovely to stay in a traditional home Perfect little shared pool Super helpful staff Great location slightly out of town up a hill in a small village with nearby restaurant and pub (also serves fab food)

GreeceIts a hike from the parking lotfor some of the houses. The island is experiencing a drought and there wasn't a lot of water; also the two kitchenettes didnt' function in my house- only for an electric tea maker. the other houses were more updated.
It is quiet and safe and the view over the bay was amazing. The building is historic and the whole things was picture perfect. The internet was great, and the beds were comfy.

United KingdomVery unique place with outside kitchen area which we loved. The swimming pool was just perfect. Little pub and a restaurant just up the steps to the left as you walk out of the property. Very quiet area at the top of the hill with a ten minute walk into town. Recommend getting a taxis back up €6 . Tip keep the curtains closed as does get hot and the air-conditioning can only do so much.

AustriaNot the fault of the house but the mosquitoes were killing us at night. Also the dining area and the kitchen are on different floors and we were going up and down all the time, could be a problem for some people.
The view is absolutely stunning. The house is very cosy and old therefore not as clean as an apartment would be, but we really enjoyed the traditional vibes. It’s not in the city center and is very quite in the night. There is a very nice taverna nearby, the beach is 10 min by car. Parking situation is a bit complicated there, but we were lucky and always found a spot. The stuff is nice, mr. Bekim is friendly and helpful.

United KingdomEarly checkout by 11, and a late flight home meant some concerns about where to leave our luggage (four people, fours cases and bags) Mr Bekim was a star, but maybe need for more formal arrangement.
A stunning location with amazing views. Property seemed basic, but was very comfortable and had every thing you needed. Lovely seating area on terrace and useful fridge for those ice cold drinks. The walk up to the property might inhibit some but we enjoyed it. Ten mins down to the shops or the beach. New modern bathroom great with plenty of water. Very grateful to the property manager in Elounda Mr Bekim who looked after our luggage on the last day, and arranged taxi to airport. He also arranged for us to be met after the late arrival.of our flight

AustraliaVery poor wi-fi. In fact it didn’t work for our iPhones. The caretaker kindly offered us his mobile phone for use as a hot spot but this was not a good solution.
Great location. Very comfortable beds. The caretaker welcomed us and gave us good service. Its location high up in the hill had stunning views. It was also close to a lovely bar and taverna with sea views.

FranceThe accomodation is not for everyone and I understand the negative reviews here. You are quite far up hill in the village. This is fine if you have a car or leave in the morning and come back in the evening (our case). If you struggle with walking and want night life nearby, this isn't for you . The general standard of the facility is dated and even sometimes a little comical. There are not two knives or forks that are the same, no sieve, one of the sinks is half blocked, the curtains haven't been changed since the 70s, the air con makes a sound like a plane taking off, there is a lamp with an American plug that doesn't fit anywhere...
We had booked 2 night and ended up staying 4. We stayed in the Leonidas house which boasts stunning views on the sea and mountains from its lovely terrace. The house is charming with wooden floors and stone walls, the sheets are clean, the beds comfortable, the water is hot, the nights are quiet and there are plenty of windows to get the air flowing. I imagine most people would be delighted to stay in such a place if a friend was lending it to them for free. If you want to be close to restaurants, need modern appliances, struggle with walking or stairs, do avoid. If you want stunning views and quiet evenings, and don't mind a bit of camping vibe, this is rather wonderful.

United StatesWhere do I start? A/c is inadequate. House is three level , there is no airflow, no a/c on first two levels. First level has an open well full of water covered with a lid. First it is not safe for kids, second it creates moldy smell. Second level with two beds - no a/c, no windiws, no airflow, not even a fan. Third level - there is a fan but you cannot turn liggts off - the cord is stuck. There is a/c but it is not adequate for the space.
Charming traditional house. Awesome veranda. Awesome views. The house could have been a jem if host would invest in some modern necessities.

United KingdomA fan for the bedroom upstairs would of been useful and I’m sure if I had asked for one they would of got one for us. The bigger electrical items were dated but perfectly acceptable. Plenty of options for coffee but no tea, sugar or milk but we bought items that we needed.
Location was very good in walking distance for shops, restaurants and beaches. The swimming pool was the saving grace and used daily as very hot when we went. It was nice to sun bathe around it. Communication with the owner and staff easy and responsive. The house was clean and had all the utilities, with air conditioner for downstairs area. Private parking next to property. Items provided - Wine, bottled water and orange juice in fridge on our arrival. Espresso machine with pods and a filter coffee machine with filters. We ate in various restaurants but returned to megaro. The supermarkets are well stocked and there is a butcher shop in the main square. Boats run daily to the island of Spinalonga. There is a road train that you can have a trip for an hour at 11am or 4 hours at 12pm with a stop to eat. Knossos is about an hour from Elounda and Placca is just down the road. You can also visit Agios Nicolas. The owners helped us arrange car rental from airport and we booked the car for the week. It’s a straight road from airport to Elounda.
