How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe were pleased from the moment we arrived the front desk person was so courteous and helpful The property was at the end of the Main Street and close to everything Pool beautiful breakfast quite good lots of fruit and breads The staff were mostly family and very anxious to help in any way We have stayed in Malia before but for sure would use this property in future for our trips here it is not close to beach maybe 10- 15 minute walk but the atmosphere of the street is a winner
If I had to pick a downfall it would be lack of a room safe It’s a pain to carry around cash and passports But still would come back I’m sure if we had asked they would have locked things up in hotel safe

Verified reviewVery clean, good value for money, amazing location, nice services like the pool. They give you a key to a safe upon arrival, I had a balcony and for the price it was a very nice hotel.
Only stayed there for two night and on the first morning a man from the staff opened the door to my room while I was sleeping. I spoke to reception after the incident and they said it was a mistake as he was going to do maintenance in my room because he thought it was empty but it really scared me. Especially that I am a girl staying on my own. I understand mistakes happen but there was no apology, and it made me uneasy for the next day/ night, even about leaving things in my room. I want to share just in case I’m not the only one this happens / happened to because had I had more time booked and more money to spare I probably would have changed hotels because of this

Verified reviewI liked the breakfast (buffet), the location was convenient, 10 minutes walk away from clubs but not noisy inside the room (occasional loud traffic could be heard in the distance from the balcony but not inside the room). The staff were helpful and friendly. The pool was a good size for relaxation and didn't feel too cold. I was also messaged by the hotel itself before my stay with a lot of useful information which was a nice touch. Also the facilities in the room were quite good. (Had a fridge, air conditioning, closet with draws, table, plugs and tables on each side of the bed).
The floor tiles were very slippery when wet (near the pool and the walk from reception to our room). Though I was personally wearing flip flops so it may have only been my luck of almost stumbling every time. The bathroom was quite small in our room, the shower had stopped working at some point but the staff did not come to fix it even though it was reported. We in the end managed to fix it on our own. The TV was quite small and all the channels were international/European. All we could watch on an English channel was sky news. (No local channels, could not watch a movie late at night for example). Also the WiFi was not always good inside the room. However whenever I sat out on the balcony, the internet was very good.

Verified reviewThe hotel has some minor negatives, which I will write about below, but overall I was satisfied and recommend this hotel. Personally, I always evaluate a hotel not only by positive, but also by negative reviews, because for one person something may not be important, but for another it is a matter of principle. So go ahead. The hotel is located in the convenient city of Malia, 20-30 minutes drive from Heraklion airport. A beautiful old part of the city, with nice restaurants and a very beautiful beach. The hotel is very conveniently located, coffee shops, restaurants, supermarkets are within walking distance. But at the same time, a little on the sidelines to enjoy peace in the evening. The sea is also not far away and the main road to the beach is right next to it. The hotel has very friendly staff. The hotel is clean, cleaned every day and everything is wiped down, including the railings on the balcony. The rooms have comfortable beds, a small refrigerator, air conditioning, it was very comfortable to sleep. Breakfasts were included in the price, and for the price of a vacation, I am completely satisfied with breakfasts. The host tried to diversify the main dish and fruits. This is not a very diverse menu, but it is quite enough for an easy and inexpensive vacation. The pool is not bad, of medium size. A beautiful yard, sunbeds and umbrellas were enough. Toilet and shower near the pool. Everything is as it should be.
Among the minuses of the hotel, I would like to note that the kitchen in our room is not functional, it consists of a kettle, glasses, and cups. There is not even a knife, an opener and a board for fruit, a microwave. In my opinion, it only occupies a place where it would be better to put an additional closet. There is also a lack of drying space in the room. It would be very appropriate to have some kind of vertical dryer, or dryer places for things on the balconies. The place for the shower is very small, and the faucet sticks straight out, it cannot be turned away to make it more convenient. Well, the craftsmen missed the plaster with an inclination towards the drain, it is not at the lowest point, so some water accumulated on the bathroom floor. There were also a few ill-mannered Russians, but probably the owner is not to blame for this

There were ants all over the rooms. Wanna eat? Ants in the fridge, wanna take a shower? The ants will wash your back. The wi-fi is so bad, if you’re counting on it , don’t (:

Verified reviewThe property is very clean and managed by the family themselves. They are really welcoming and we got early check-in as we arrived in the hotel couple of hours before the check-in time. The beds are super comfortable and we got the pool view room. The hotel is on the main Malia road yet very peaceful at night. Has a great clean pool (which we did not use as we were mostly out exploring).
The breakfast spread is limited and it will be great to add few warm dishes to the lot. Healthy warm items usually get finished by 9:15. So, if you are late, you get the replacement item or cold food option. Also, it would have been great if toiletries could be provided as for someone who lives for a longer duration may find it helpful but this is not a deal breaker ofcourse. I booked triple bed room to get more room space but we were allocated double room but we were okay.

Verified reviewThe location and the room
The booking said room with pool or garden view. The room had a view to a bush and other properties could look into the room, it was not a garden. The food was ok, I only ate there because it was all inclusive but the food let me down. The all inclusive drinks are not included until between 21 - 23 hrs, prior to that, only soft, beer and wine are available. I expected to be able to have a gin and tonic but if hey wouldn’t serve. I wasn’t told I had to pay to use the air-con. They charged me 5 euros per day when we left.
Dear Mr Sergio, As we are located in the city of Malia, our neighboors are local houses with garden. As we are a three stars hotel, we do have some extras. Our all inclusive drinks as per our list (standing on the bar) are: Soft drinks, juices, white & red wine, coffee & tea, draughr beer, ouzo, raki, brandy, vodka gin & rum. Yes, we do have premium drinks extra, but every time you were asking for Gin, we served without charging extra. We appreciate your comment for our food and we undertand that we all have different taste, but in general our food is home made, using cretan products and recipes. By this way, we try to provide Cretan food and taste to our visitors. Thank your your spending time to give a review and we are very happy that we met you. You are a very nuce person & we hope to see you again. With Best Regards, manos kourinos - GM
