Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe gym had minimal working equipment and the pool table was unusable. The property location is about 15 to 20 minutes walk to the main attractions.
Located close to a Metro, and amazing front staff. The breakfast was also very good. There is a nice rooftop deck for lounging and a cute area downstairs for hanging out. The room had a small balcony and the places easy to find for check in. If you need to have your bags held, the front desk stuff is very accommodating.

BelgiumBit of a weird vibe in the breakfast room: staff was not very welcoming. The light on the balcony is always on at night, while the curtains are not wide enough to shut out all of the light so bit of a nuisance.
Very friendly front of desk staff. We even got upgraded and got free (basic) breakfast. Cool rooms.

United KingdomThe drain in our ensuite was damaged and there was not much sound insulation so you could hear a lot of street noise. The location is in a bit of a rundown part of town.
Spacious room with a really comfortable bed and decent continental breakfast buffet. Good public transport connections with the subway. The price was very fair for what we got.

GermanyThe Dave Red in Athens, just off Omonoia Square. Review of The Dave Red Athens - March 2025 Check-in was smooth, especially considering my name has a special character and often gets misspelled -I checked in online - No hassle this time, Plus points - which was a nice start. The hotel was clean and looked freshly presented, but there are some serious downsides you should know about before booking. Totally outside the control of the Dave hotel ! There is a hidden door in the ground floor library, You open it to a store room and a stain well come oncome on -dave red guys- like it a Bar. The Area (and it's a big issue) The hotel is only a few hundred metres from Omonoia Metro Station, but walking those few hundred metres feels like crossing a dystopian wasteland. Junkies and people clearly struggling with addiction are everywhere - shooting up in doorways, passed out on the pavement, or stumbling around in a daze. One man ahead of me was swinging a syringe around like it was a cigarette, in broad daylight. I didn't feel directly threatened, but the general atmosphere was intense and unpleasant. You also see severely unwell women loitering - prostitutes- in what looks like a desperate state. Some stood motionless at corners like statues, others circled the same block over and over. It was deeply sad. The whole area feels forgotten and unsafe. If you're not used to this kind of street scene, it's genuinely shocking. The Room The room was fine in terms of cleanliness, but definitely unfinished. It had a clean, modern look - no carpets, just polished flooring - but the detailing wasn't great. The major issue was the shower: it simply doesn't drain. The major issue was the shower: it simply doesn't drain. I've worked in construction and can say with confidence - the floor of the shower area has no angle, no lip, and no waterproof tilting detail.
The style and the easy how the Omonoia Metro Station, and get you everywhere. The room was nice a big and it was very quiet ! There are things in the Daves red's control and things that are not ! the rooms are fine- the builfin was the old comnist part head quarters of gresses - I would have pushed the history of the place. a bit more. with massive murall in the brakfast room .

GeorgiaOn the downside, the toilet door was slightly misaligned, which seemed to be a known issue. As a result, water tended to spread across the bathroom floor when showering. Additionally, we noticed that bathrobes, bottled water, and cutlery were not provided in the room, which would have been a nice touch (and clearly were included in the amenity list)
We really liked the room—it was stylish, clean, and well-heated, with convenient electricity adapters. The bedding was cosy and comfortable, and the overall atmosphere felt welcoming. The hotel offered good value for money, with a decent breakfast, and the staff were exceptionally helpful. They accommodated our early check-in request and even arranged for breakfast to be served earlier, which we really appreciated. The location was also excellent, making it easy to explore the city. .

ChileLocation: You might think that staying in a central location is ideal for a short vacation, but the neighbourhood is dodgy, even though when there's a police station in front of the hotel, that makes the fake sense of safety. Although I did not have any bad experience whatsoever, I never felt safe. Hotel room: the bathroom was quite small and the shower did not have a basin so when you showered the whole bathroom got wet. The terrace has a light that can't be turned off, so it made it difficult to sleep.
This is a budget hotel located in a central area of Athens. The closest metro station is Omonia, which is 150m of walking distance. It had breakfast included in the price. Hotel Staff: very nice, helpful and there's 24/7 desk service. Hotel Room: nice and comfy bed and sheets.

SpainThe location is a little away from centre in a slightly rougher area of the city. We didn't have any trouble at all and it's quite well connected to the rest of the city via metro (2 minutes walk) however it was a little uncomfortable at night.
Extremely comfy mattress which is always a good thing for hotel stay. The staff were exceptional as well. Kindly supported us in changing our booking after an error in dates and offered us free breakfast on arrival which was very kind.
