Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaBrand new hotel with high end finishes and attention to detail. What makes this hotel 5 star are its staff. Harra, Dinitri and the team provide excellent care for your every need, nothing is too much trouble. The breakfast is excellent. The location is excellent. There are only 5 rooms so service is very personable. The restaurant is very good. The rooms are well appointed with high quality amenities. I liked the magnolia scented bath products. Highly recommend.

AustraliaThe property was beautiful, so lovely designed, spacious, clean and had every possible facility needed. The breakfast was in their beautiful restaurant and was really delicious. The last day we had to leave really early before breakfast so they brought us breakfast for the road which was so generous. And our luggage got lost at the airport and they were so helpful making sure it got dropped off to us and left it in our room. Felt like a piece of luxury in the heart and centre of Athens. The location was perfect to get everywhere and so convenient and so nicely air conditioned to escape the heat of Athens.

I had the most wonderful stay at the Emerald Hotel in Athens. Tucked away in the heart of the city, this boutique gem perfectly combines charm, comfort, and character. From the moment I arrived, the warm hospitality made me feel at home, yet every detail still felt special and thoughtfully curated. The hotel itself is beautifully designed—stylish yet cozy, with unique touches that give it so much personality. My room was spotless, comfortable, and filled with natural light, offering the perfect retreat after exploring Athens. Despite being right in the city center, it felt like a calm oasis where I could truly relax. What really sets the Emerald Hotel apart is the atmosphere. It doesn’t feel like a standard hotel, but more like a secret haven that’s both intimate and welcoming. The location is unbeatable too—just steps from the main attractions, great restaurants, and vibrant neighborhoods.

CanadaPowerful fragrance even after requesting fragrance-free. Could tone it down a little :) Bar across the street from the suite can be loud and unsightly
Beautiful and unique design. Rooftop with bath felt like an oasis, especially with the fresh rosemary. Staff was welcoming, incredibly friendly and communicative. Would love to stay again :)

AustraliaCouldn’t fault it as a boutique, stylish hotel. With staff who go above and beyond. We arrived on an early morning flight into Athens. They held our luggage and as soon as the room was available they notified us via WhatsApp well before check in time that we could use it.

FranceQuite slow for breakfast service, but nothing unusual for Athenes (and we didn’t mention we were in a hurry, so that’s on us as well).
Fantastic little hotel in the heart of Athenes. Location is ideal, the staff was very friendly and the amenities are of premium quality. We stayed in the Uranus room, with the private terrasse above that is perfect for morning coffee.

I liked that it was close to restaurants, shops, and at least 15-20 mins to all the attractions. It was nice that breakfast was offered in a place just around the corner and that they had outdoor/indoor spaces. The building and room was kept very clean. The staff, Hara, Demetri, and others in the restaurant were extremely helpful and kind. I could not have asked for a better staff team for my first time in Athens. They checked in on me often, helped with my luggage given there wasn’t an elevator, and helped coordinate airport transportation. I appreciated their kindness as a solo, female traveler.

We absolutely loved our stay at Emerald Athens Hotel! The staff were super friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived. I was a bit nervous about the lack of a lift (as mentioned in some reviews), but they offered to carry our bags up during check-in and back down when we checked out – no issues at all. The hotel is modern and super clean. Our room was tidied and refreshed every day, even when we didn’t expect it. Breakfast was delicious – you can order two dishes from the menu, and the portions are generous! They also gave us a welcome drink at a nearby restaurant, which was a lovely surprise. On our last day, we had to leave early for a ferry and thought we’d miss breakfast, but the staff made us free sandwiches to take with us – such a kind gesture. The location is great – walking distance to major sites and only about 15 minutes to the Acropolis. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Athens. The little details and great service made our stay really special!

IsraelThe only things to be aware of: the hotel doesn’t have an elevator, so you’ll need to climb a (beautiful but fairly steep) staircase to reach the rooms on the first or second floor. Staff kindly carried our suitcases up at check-in, but not at check-out. Also, there’s no lobby or lounge area outside the rooms, so after checking out, there isn’t really a space to sit and relax – something to note if that’s important to you.
Emerald Hotel Athens exceeded all our expectations and made our trip truly special. It’s a newly opened hotel with beautifully curated design, high-quality furnishings, and an exceptional attention to detail. The rooms have high ceilings, elegant decor, and a sense of quiet luxury that immediately makes you feel comfortable and relaxed. Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and refreshed daily. It was fully equipped with everything we needed: a wardrobe, cozy sitting area, in-room safe, a Nespresso machine with complimentary capsules, free bottled water and snacks, and a minibar with additional drinks and treats available for purchase. The air conditioning worked flawlessly, and the bed was large, supportive yet comfortable – with soft sheets and outstanding memory foam pillows. The bathroom featured plush towels, a wonderful rainfall shower, constant hot water, and premium toiletries. One of the highlights of our stay was the location: right in the center of Athens, within walking distance of every major neighborhood and historical attraction, yet just one street away from the main Ermou pedestrian zone – so we were close to everything, but still enjoyed peace and quiet in the room. Breakfast is served at Yphes, the fantastic restaurant directly below the hotel. The breakfast menu is incredibly diverse, and every dish we tried was beautifully presented and delicious. As part of the hotel’s offering, each guest receives two different dishes from the menu plus coffee or fresh juice – a real treat every morning. The staff were kind, attentive, and genuinely helpful – every request was met quickly and always with a smile. Considering the quality of the hotel, the service, the fantastic location, and the included breakfast at Yphes – the value for money is simply outstanding.

United KingdomTiny niggles on a brand new hotel. Not worth putting here as all will be ironed out. The hotel is connected to a restaurant that provides the breakfast (all the same business). There is no elevator if you have heavy luggage or need accessibility.
This boutique hotel was brand new when we stayed in Dec 24. The rooms are exquisite. High ceilings, high end fittings and amazing decor. We stayed in ‘aide’ the name of the room. The manager was extremely attentive and engaging.

Walking distance to many points of interest, concerts, great dinners and posh shopping experience. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and special on our stay. What makes Emerald Athens so special, beyond its unique architecture and style, is its restaurant, which offers modern Greek cuisine paired with a large wine list—sure to satisfy even the most discerning food lovers. We loved our stay at Emerald Hotel! The hotel was centrally located and easy to walk to all the major attractions in Athens. Our room was brand new and clean, and we loved using the rooftop tub to cool down after a long day walking around. Finally, the staff was so kind - they arranged airport taxis for us, and prepared delicious to-go sandwiches for us to take in the morning because we had an early flight home. Highly recommend this lovely hotel!
