Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaThe hotel’s automatic front door occasionally didn’t respond to the sensor, which was a minor inconvenience.
The hotel’s location was excellent — close to metro and bus stations, convenience stores, cafés, restaurants, and shopping areas, all within easy reach. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and the air conditioning worked very well. The bathroom was clean, and the shower had great water pressure. Room service was also reliable and satisfying. A special thanks to the receptionist, Alex, who was kind, friendly, and truly welcoming. I would definitely stay here again on my next visit to Athens.

KuwaitThere is really nothing to complain about, except the area may have been slightly unsafe or dirty but we were able to compromise really well.
The location being in the centre was a plus for our experience, and everything we did want to see was a couple of minutes away whether it was the taxi or if we were to walk. The staff were very cooperative and really nice too.

Spotlessly clean and very well looked after. Lovely and very friendly staff. Immensely helpful and very pleasant. They even considered giving us a 45-minute lift to a wedding we were attending, because taxis and Uber were on strike that evening!!..

CanadaI couldn't quite figure out how to regulate the shower temperature well. It went from too cold to too hot very quickly! It was minor. We also did not know that the thermostat would not work it any windows or doors were open. Once we knew this it was no probem!
The staff were exceptional and accommodating. Any small problems that we experienced were dealt with promptly and cheerfully.

United StatesWhat I didn’t like was the way my room changes were handled. Despite paying a high rate, I was moved multiple times and ultimately made to feel as though my comfort was less important than another guest who paid slightly more. The communication around room availability was inconsistent, and I felt dismissed and guilted for requesting something as basic as natural light. It left me feeling undervalued as a paying guest. The entire interaction left me feeling dismissed and guilted — as if I was being granted a favor rather than treated as a paying guest with reasonable needs. That dynamic completely shifted my impression of the hotel. While a polite response was later offered acknowledging my feedback, I believe it’s important to explain why I choose to share these kinds of experiences honestly. As someone who has traveled the world solo — staying everywhere from top-tier luxury resorts to simple, family-run guesthouses — I’ve learned that stellar customer service has nothing to do with star ratings. In fact, some of my most meaningful stays have been in modest 3-star hotels that delivered 10-star service — like my experience at Olga’s Hotel in Pelion(Mouresi), where the care and attention were unforgettable. It’s why I feel compelled to say: Evia Hotel is clean and well-located, yes — but hospitality is about more than modern furniture and fresh paint. When you prioritize who paid €15 more over how to treat a guest who’s already staying with you, you risk turning away loyal, respectful customers over what amounts to a small short-term gain. And that’s exactly what happened here — I was told another guest paid €155/night (just €15 more than I did), and I was made to feel expendable because of it. This isn’t just about me or one room — it’s about how a hotel’s reputation can decline not because of cleanliness or amenities, but because of how people are made to feel. In this case, I wasn’t treated like a valued guest.
What I liked most about Evia Hotel was that it’s brand new and exceptionally clean, with a great location in Athens. Housekeeping kept everything spotless throughout my stay, which I really appreciated. The standout, however, was Alexandra at the front desk — she was warm, professional, and genuinely kind, and her presence made a real difference.
