How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Rooms are very small Toilet door can only be open slightly, then you need to fit in. The hotel refund policy is very strict and they have no flexibility to deduct some and refund the remainder. (I understand it’s the policy that I agreed upon during the booking, but most of other providers deduct some days and refund the rest)

Only huge pillows! My neck was sore. The room was on the small side, shower was cramped, but still good for the price, and perfect for a short stay.

Verified reviewThis is an old hotel under new management and the improvements brought by the new management are clearly there to see. The welcome and the friendliness of the staff was fantastic. Every effort was made to make us feel welcome and well looked after. The room was clean and comfortable. The newly created roof terrace provides a fantastic environment to chill in the evening, especially in the warm summer months. The location is excellent. Outstanding value for money. I would highly recommend this place.
The bathroom was a bit cramped and the vestiges of the old hotel are a bit dated. I would expect these to progressively disappear as the new management continues to bring improvements.

Verified reviewThey are still renovating the old vintage Hotel Exarchion. The new owners and stall are really very nice, but they are overpricing the old, low quality rooms.
The hotel is still old, not very comfortable and the renovation is very superficial: just painting and putting some IKEA furniture. Still the place has a charm, but not enough for the new prices.

Verified reviewAt the beginning of my nine-day stay in August I immediately noticed, as a long-time guest of this hotel, positive changes made by the new management: the rooms have been painted, a new air conditioner has been installed, a new refrigerator, a coffee maker, free bottled water, new bedding (but the beds and mattresses are old), modern decoration, impeccable cleanliness everywhere, the roof terrace is being renovated, etc. From this perspective, the hotel would deserve another star.
And now my well-intention negative observations: 1. This unit does not serve breakfast which I missed very much, 2. There is no TV in the room (although booking.com lists it), 3. There are no phones in the rooms (how to contact the reception if something happens to a solo staying guest in the (bath)room or how the reception can urgently contact guests if their mobile phones are turned off or missing), 4. There is no hotel safe available where you could leave your passport and money, 5. The quite high price for solo travelers is the same as for two people (at least at the time of my reservation). However, keeping in mind that the hotel reopened only two months ago, there is a hope of further improvement regarding the facility, amenities and service in general.

The rooms are cozy, modern design and aesthetic, with beautiful views of the city and Lycabettus. Were able to leave our bags much earlier than check in which was much appreciated. Perfect room, had everything we needed, incredible air con!! And the rooftop!!! Incredible large rooftop with an amazing view of all of athens, beautiful for sunset. The area was cool and happening- many bars and restaurants open at night, lots within in walking distance. Verified reviewFires, the staff is amazing! The two girls in the reception were super friendly and helpful. This made our day and upgraded our stay. The room was clean and we had extra water, drinks and coffee. We spent only one night, so pretty good value for money. Many nice cafes for breakfast in the area.
The area is not great. Lots of graffiti, homeless. The shower is tiny. If your are a bit bigger than a teenager you won’t fit. The building is dated.
