How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

€1.737 per night is huge, even more than most of the real Four Seasons Resorts, but definitely horrendously overpriced for a Mom-and-Pop 8-room operation where you have to shut the bathroom door to get around it into the shower. At their taverna you can also dine without a shirt, showing a big fat stomach. Definitely tacky. Definitely rustic. I don’t know how I got conned with the price but I really expected much, much more.

Verified reviewThe gardens are wonderful. Having a private sun porch. The staff is so attentive and lovely. A stool should be substituted for by a chair. It s not set up for writing which it should be why not.
1. the restaurant takes up the entire front portion of the beach and setting. The beach is to the right and left. 2. The food is awful. I grilled octopus that was inedible. I tried to send it back with no success. The Greek salad as another table looked ok. Why not have a kitchen that is experimental and elegant to fit the price of the hotel. The hotel requires transport form the town. They do have a dependable shuttle but its something to think about.

Verified reviewThe experience at the hotel was very good. They greet you at the port and there is a boat shuttle to take you to and from the hotel every 15 or 30 minutes. As we wanted to explore the city, but also have a beach experience, this hotel was a good choice. Their beach service is great as well as the restaurant by the sea. The room had a big varanda and it was big and very comfortable.
The staff was always very friendly and helpful, but from one experience we had with one of them. When we asked what they would suggest for us to see in the town, maybe some gallery or museu, the reply was super negative and that we should enjoy the beach, like my question would be some absurd thought. I insisted, saying that I knew the island was known for its artsy side, but again another negative and that I should just go to the beach. As much as I did enjoy the beach, it was not all I wanted to see and exactly why I had chosen Hydra! I never had seen someone so dismissive and bordeline rude to a guest asking for local advice. I know what I want to see and do, this interaction was really something I'd never experienced before.

Verified reviewThe location is good. There is a boat to ship the luggage to the hotel. We had dinner in the restaurant which was delicous and good value for money. The beach was good and relaxing. The sunset was gorgeous

Verified reviewI really loved that Anna met us at the dock when the private boat transfer arrived and welcomed us. That set the tone For our anniversary stay. I also love the fact that our beach chairs were already reserved and waiting us. The staff was exceptionally accommodating for everything that we asked for. I loved our room with private porch with sea view. I honestly can say that this was a great experience .I wish we had stayed longer. Anna thank you so much for your hospitality, I really appreciate you accommodating us. The young man at the beach was also very polite and helpful. Everyone was just so pleasant and helpful. Yes, and the sunset at dinner time is fantastic!
