Reviews of Ideal Hotel 2 stars

The hotel offers a warm, family-like atmosphere, with rooms that are perfectly clean and well cared for. The housekeeping ladies are very considerate: if possible, they avoid disturbing guests in the early morning, which we really appreciated. While the room décor might feel a bit aged and simple, everything works perfectly and is well maintained. The staff is extremely kind and always ready to go the extra mile to meet any request. Thanks to them, we enjoyed an authentic holiday, immersed in the famous Greek hospitality.

The only downside of our stay was that the hotel is currently undergoing expansion works, and as expected, the construction workers start early in the morning. This did affect the morning peace a bit. However, we understand this is only temporary, and hopefully by next year everything will be completed, bringing back the calm and tranquillity that make this place truly special.

The apartament was big and clean. The kitchen had all utilitties. It is close to the beach. The food at the restaurant it's delicious. We enjoyed the pool, very clean water and plenty of sunbeds. The people were very nice and polite. We recommend an air-conditioner for the kids room, too. We enjoyed our stay.

Only stayed one night before flight back but room was very clean and staff exceptional.

A basic, although large room, which satisfied our needs. We arrived around 9.30pm and ate in the bar attached, food was good and the staff were really friendly. Had a wonderful traditional breakfast the next morning and that too was delicious. It was early season and the weather wasn't great so I don't think we saw the area at its best. I imagine that it will be buzzing once the season is in full swing.

The room had been shut off and there were loads of mosquitos! Didn't like the rain :-D

Lovely complex with great Taverna attached

This is not a beachfront property and it may be 100metres to the beach as crow flies bit more like 1000 metres and difficult to get to

Fantastic spot to stay! Jorge and his staff were exceptional and very attentive each day! The cleaning staff were on point! Overall a fab place to stay!

Fluffier pillows would be a great addition.

Very nice facilities, perfect room, perfect beds, great food, very very polite and helpful staff.

Our room was near a busy road, on top of the restaurant and just under the planes preparing to land, not a great mix for sleeping.

The hotel and the pool is exceptionally clean. The restaurant/bar area is also spotless. Staff are amazing and really made us feel welcome.

I honestly didn't dislike this hotel what so ever but if I could move it to another location, I definitely would. Nothing around it whatsoever. You could walk 20 minutes in each direction and only see a supermarket witch ofcourse isn't great in 40 degrees heat.

Mattresses were a bit hard

Restaurant was excellent. Staff were very accommodating nothing was too much trouble. Apartment was kept very clean.

The flight path for aircraft coming in to land at Herakilion was close but you did get used to that after a couple of days...

Very pleasant and clean swimming pool. Taverna inside the hotel very good. Parking available (very few spots however). Very welcoming and helpful staff.

Poor maintenance of the room (broken door and handle). Poor cleaning of the floor (dust and dead insects in the corners and under the mattresses).

Stayed here a lot of times and always happy to go back. Everything was perfect .Staff friendly and restaurant meal very good .

Not a great location for a holiday. Restricted beach and not a very beautiful street. Room facilities are getting a little worn.

We live in the UK but my husband is from Crete and we visit every summer. We have stayed at Ideal for the last four years. We’ve previously stayed in more expensive hotels but actually prefer it at Ideal. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, the cleaners are friendly and change the bed linen every two days and clean regularly. The hotel has an excellent taverna attached serving traditional Greek food, and stone baked pizzas and more. The hotel is close to shops, restaurants, the beach, a pharmacy and a doctors surgery. Also a short walk from more sea front cars and restaurants in Gournes. Highly recommend!
