How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewNice property, great location and customer service. Room we booked was a bit too small. Did have one of the best breakfast ever! And the ladies were very attentive and cheerful every morning
There was an error on booking room so they had to move us last day. But turned out room was much bigger so it turned out okay after all!

Verified reviewThe property was in the perfect location very close to the main harbour and lots of good bars and restaurants. The rooms were quirky and fit the style of the area, however needed some maintenance and updating. There was also a good beach within walking distance. The room was clean and the breakfast was included.
The room was not the most comfortable. The bed and pillows were quite hard without a proper blanket. The shower was too small, I banged my back trying to get something’s I had dropped and I’m quite a slender person. Breakfast was ok, but was inconsistent and the eggs were always cold.

Verified reviewThe location is wonderful, in the heart of the old town, very close to the seaside. We stayed for one night only and we had a nice evening stroll on the beach. The jacuzzi offered a relaxing time and the bed was very comfortable.
We liked everything although the breakfast included was more modest than the usual breakfasts in other places. We felt like sharing one person's portion between the two of us. Also side-note for people coming with a car, be prepared to spend some time to circle around the parking area by the beach, as it's hard to find a free spot (especially in the evening).

Verified reviewPerfect location to reach with the car but still comfortable to go anywhere in the center by walking. Nice breakfast and charming decoration of the room.
The air didn’t feel very fresh, they should keep the windows open to change the air.

Verified reviewStaying here is an experience - what a beautiful authentic place in the backstreets of Chania! There is a cute balcony and a simple but good breakfast is served in the street. Would definitely recommend!

Verified reviewWe LOVED it here. It felt like being in a fairytale cottage. Definitely our favorite place we stayed during the whole trip. Very close to the busy old town center, but on a quiet street. The people who work in the office and serve breakfast are very nice as well, and the breakfast was delicious. The bathtub/jacuzzi in the middle of the room was a fun touch. I wish we never left!

Verified reviewThis old building with its narrow winding staircase was such a treat to stay in . It’s a very quirky and fun place to stay . The breakfast in the morning served outside on the quiet little lane was really delicious and plentiful and served with love and kindness. We loved this peaceful location close to the port and a short walk away from peak tourism. The shower is very small but you do have a spa bath in this particular room , if that’s your preference. We loved our 2 nights here and would return in a heartbeat.
Nothing , we loved even the small bathroom 🤩

Verified reviewThe location was ideal, a street down to the bay. The breakfast was lovely but could be served earlier especially for people going places. Staff were lovely we got a lot of recommendations of them and we were allowed to store our bags at the property before our departure. The street was one of the nicest in the area and quite, however you will see pictures taken by people outside the accomadation which is a shame as you will hear everything outside.
The room was not as shown in pictures. Pictures are misleading. We didnt get a poster bed. The bathtub was downstairs rather than in the one room. We didnt get a balcony which was the main reason we chose this place. The room had very little storage and no wardrobe or a place to put your things. We found ants around the drains both downstairs and upstairs. The shower was leaking through the ceiling and there was no shower hook. The fridge was connected to electricity so when you took the key with you to lock the door it turned off. The room was dusty. There was no iron in the room. There is no private parking, that should be taken off the list. Nice for a short stay max 2 days-would avoid for a week or longer.
Hello, we are sorry you were disappointed by your room the only thing I can say is that I wish you communicated your issues with the room with us so that we could solve them. The only thing that you said to us was about a shower hook and now that room has one. I am sorry we do not think the pictures are misleading. you booked the room type double room , in the description of the room type you can see pictures of 5 different rooms that fall within that type and you get one of them. one of the rooms in the pictures was the one you got. also I am sorry but the fridge is separate from the electricity card the fridge does work even without the card. Lastly I am sorry for the misunderstanding but if you see the details of your reservation we say clearly that there is a free public parking space nearby and that's how it is shown on booking.com as well, we do not say that we have a private parking for the hotel

Verified reviewComfortable room with loads of character, great central spot in old town but in a quiet street. Huge comfy bed, small balcony to sit for a night cap, tapas style buffet served by lovely smiling ladies. Great place to stay for a mini break. Restaurants, shops, harbour on your step. 15 min walk to a beach which isn't the best but ok for a few hours, you'd want a car if you're there for the beach really. Chania old town though is beautiful and I would recommend anybody to spend a couple of days there.
We were on top floor which was accessed via narrow winding stairs, a little exhausting for us as we are n ot fit but wouldn't stop us staying again. A hook to put shower head on would be good.

Verified reviewIfigenia Traditional Rooms & Maisonettes offer a truly unique and authentic experience. The rooms are full of character, beautifully decorated in a traditional Cretan style, and very clean. I loved the cozy atmosphere and the attention to detail that made the stay feel special. The location is fantastic - right in the old town of Chania, close to the Venetian harbor, restaurants, and shops, yet peaceful and relaxing. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was a perfect blend of comfort, tradition, and hospitality. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a memorable stay in Chania!

Verified reviewSuch a beautiful room. Split level. Four poster bed. Stunning balcony. Whirlpool bath (which we admit we didn’t use). A fridge was a bonus to keep our extra beers cool. The breakfast was a full Greek meze. Out on the street. So stylish. The staff were so welcoming and friendly. We WOULD definitely recommend and would stay again. Loved the spiral staircase to the room!
Not much. Occasionally a little noisy at night from people chatting on their way home in the narrow echoey streets. Plus a couple of over anxious dogs in the mornings but I’m sure the whole of old town would be the same.

Verified reviewLovely spot in town, we had the maisonette with amazing views over the city and mountains, and a beautiful spacious room. The building is nice and rustic but well equipped, breakfast is charming in the alleys outside
All good - if you can avoid using this platform and book directly with the hotel or with another platform it would be better. This platform continues to list hotels and residences in the illegal settlements in the West Bank, directly contributing to financially sustaining occupation and colonisation
