How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewBeautiful View and Peaceful Location We loved the peaceful location and the stunning view. The central location made it easy to explore both the northern coast and inland villages. And thanks to its forested hillside setting, the hotel stays pleasantly cool in the mornings and evenings — a big plus in summer. Thanks for the stay!
The hotel is perched on a hill, so be prepared for a steep 10-minute walk if you’re coming without a car — it can be challenging in the summer heat. If breakfast is important to you, note that it was a bit underwhelming. There weren’t many fresh items like greens or tomatoes, which we normally expect. One issue we had was with privacy. Despite the “Do Not Disturb” sign on our door, housekeeping entered the room and changed the sheets. While this was done with good intentions, it didn’t align with our expectations. If you’re particular about privacy, it’s worth discussing this at check-in.

Verified reviewLiked the location and overall cleanliness… although it is quite far from the airport and taxi is $140 in one way only.
Breakfast was mainly carb saturated and sweet… for vegan eaters there was just coffee bread jam… no fresh fruit at all and no vegetables… just eggs ham cheese honey and sweet baked goods… sweet cereals and milk/yogurt…. No plant based milk at all. That should be improved.

Verified reviewThe hotel was like an ‘oasis’ on a top of a hill, and still within walking distance to some beaches and to Gialiskari, the nearest ‘village’. (during the day in the boiling sunshine I wouldn’t attempt the walk back as its uphill) The rooms were clean and spacious enough with very comfortable beds, and the ones facing the sea came with a stunning, panoramic view. Breakfast was good, staff helpful, and the atmosphere generally very relaxing. Even during the heat wave there was always freshness and usually a breeze. We will be back.
Parking was a bit strenuous sometimes when the hotel was full and it took some manoeuvring to get the car in and out. The owner plans to build more parking spaces soon so it should be solved.

Verified reviewStuff was very kind, helpful with anything you may need. Do not hesitate to ask them. Location is very good. Access to one of the best beaches in Ikaria within 10min walking time. Restaurants and mini markets nearby as well. We advise visiting in months such as May/June when it is not too busy.

Verified reviewWe booked room with balcony and view to the mountains-better to say olives trees, but also was included big terace shared with another two rooms with a view to the sea and wonderful sunsets!!! Room smelled nice and was cleaned everyday. Self-service beakfast simple: hot drinks, water, orange juice, greek youghurt, olives, ham, cheese, boiled eggs, bread and some cookies. Besides! Drinking water from the tap! Recomend: *friendly hotel stuff; *good location; *the beach 5minutes walk; *ony 2stars, but it could be 3! Thank you Ikaros Star hotel 🩵
Not enough parking space for all travelers cars. Breakfast menu the same all week, and any fresh fruits or vegetables, so hard for vegetarians or vegan people.

Verified reviewThe hotel was great and I will definitely will be back ! Clean, comfortable, beautiful view from the balcony, good breakfast and a 10 minute walk to a messakti beach which is very convenient ! The owner, Mr.Zaxarias and Eleni where very kind and made me feel like home. As I had arrived late for my check in he offered to take me to and back from the restaurant by car as there was an uphill even though it was very close by. The next morning he prepared breakfast for me at 5:30am as I was there for work and had to leave very early. Thank you very much and hope to be back soon.
everything was great !

Verified reviewThe hotel was peaceful and silent, the beach is 10 minutes walk and in our opinion it is the best beach in the island (Mesakti Beach). The staff was very kind and helpful, they helped and gave us good advice, eg.: which way is the best to visit tourist attractions or hidden places. The room was very clean, and they provided good breakfast every day. Thank you!
The fridge in the room was a bit noisy, and we felt the bed a bit hard, maybe because we usually sleep on soft matress, but we got used to it.

Verified reviewLovely, traditional hotel with friendly, helpful and wonderful staff. Genuinely welcoming and kind people. Room was clean, quiet, comfortable, well-equipped and serviced every day. We stayed in a Mountain View room but there was a good shared balcony to use which overlooked the sea. Breakfast was buffet style and a lovely occasion as you could sit out on the terrace. Short walk to local shops, cafes and restaurants and Mesakti beach. Quiet, peaceful place. Excellent value for money too.
Nothing - all great.

Verified reviewThe hotel is in a good location in Gialiskari. Room was clean and breakfast was abundant. Mr Zaharias and his wife made sure that we had everything we need. They clearly gave insitructions on how to navigate Ikaria and its roads and educated us on the history of the island and its citizens. They sent us to great locations for food, festivals and hidden beaches.
parking was a bit hard especially because the hotel is on an uphill, but is pretty standard on an island like Ikaria.

Verified reviewThe breakfast met expectations. The staff was helpful and very pleasant. The parking situation is kind of a mess and I just ended up parking on the street because it was easier for me. There was an option to have our clothes washed too.
The parking situation first and foremost. No elevator too was difficult to ferry all of the luggage to the third floor. A bellhop or someone to bring the luggage to our room would have made my life easier. The cost to have clothes washed was a king’s ransom (€15 flat fee)

Verified reviewGood location nearby everywhere you need to be in Ikaria: by car 10 minutes to Mesakti Beach and 20 min from Raches. You need a car because the hotel is located on a hill. Staff is very friendly and helpful. We paid 60 euro per night which is a cheap price.
Chemical hotel breakfast, beds were rock hard.
