How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe location was good, walking distance with lots of nice bars and cafes. They provide lockers with keys
When I arrive the guy showing me around opened all doors including the ladies bathroom without even knocking. When I asked if someone else was staying in my same room, he acted annoyed saying that there were other tourists. I had booked an all female dorm and it wasn't. The rooms didn't have a key (couldn't be locked) and there was a balcony all around where everyone from other rooms could access mine.

Verified reviewIt has a kitchen and big balcony
The hostel is maintained by two older men, so it is not very clean, kitchen and toilet are dirty.. I arrived late in Athens and they didn't want to receive me early even though I asked to change the date of arrival so I arrived a day later and paid more which was not fair from them

Verified reviewNice host, clean, we arrived at night they opened no problem. Kitchen was always full with nice people. Great neighborhood, nice balconies.
There was one maintenance guy who was moving things in the fridge and some of the people complained he took some of their things but my things were fine.

Small shower space, but water pressure was good and there was hot water.

Verified reviewSuch a hospitable stay! I felt like home. Appreciate the owner who is a friendly person, we had a lot of nice conversations, and he welcomed me and other quests to have a Greek dinner and drinks together. Also thank you for helpful advices about places to visit and where to eat in Athens. Will stay next time again. Greetings form Kazakhstan!
The arrival can be a bit complicated to find the entrance (personal experience), but once you're there the host will do everything to make your stay comfortable.

Verified reviewThe man running the show was super nice I woke him up vary early because my bus got me into town early and he let me check in at 8am. The location is also great and there is a public bus right out the door and the owner said the locals don’t pay so just jump on I also extended a day which he gave me a discount.
Was hot at times but that’s what you get in peak summer also doesn’t help one of the people in my room kept opening the window while the ac was going.

Verified reviewAndreas welcomed me really well, and the hostel has everything you need! I felt at home. The location is easy to get to and it’s 25 minutes from Omonia by public transport. The bus stop is right in front of the hostel, which makes things much easier.

Verified reviewThe owner as everyone says is very nice and friendly.
I am sad to write this as I think the owner is a good man but that alone can't be enough for a pleasant stay. I stayed at a female room with 6 beds, the girls were friendly when I was there so it made it nice to stay. But the room is very cold due to the aircon always bring on, and you cannot turn it off. There is even one bed where the aircon is directly above your head, I was happy I wasn't staying in that bed. It is understandable to have the aircon on since its roasting outside but it was way too cold and we didnt have the remote to it to adjust it ourselves. The hostel is very dirty, bathrooms some of the worst I've seen, kitchen and rooms also. It is not cleaned regularly and it shows. There are no locks on the doors, so anyone can come into your dorm. One man, whos role I didnt understand in the hostel(maybe staff member, didnt speak english) walked into the bathroom while I was changing, supposedly to clean, the place didnt look any different after. He also walked around shirtless, was very loud, and put his feet on the table where guests drink their coffee. His presence made me uncomfortable.

Verified reviewNot sure why so many bad reviews, this place is great, has an apartment or airbnb feel rather than hostel. Bathrooms are separated and women’s are generally kept clean, rooms have AC and there’s a nice balcony to do some journaling or to smoke. Owner is a very nice guy and speaks good English, let me stay past check out since my bus left considerably after check out. Vibe is very family and homey, he makes sure to make guests feel welcome. Not a very social vibe but very peaceful and comfortable. Location is also great with a bus stop right in front of and 2 more within 4 min, a supermarket within 2 minutes and metro station within 10. Might be slightly pricier but regular high season prices for Athens and I think it’s worth the value. Women’s dorms are particularly big and have a nice breeze!
Kitchen could be a bit more equipped and bathrooms a bit more clean, it’s nothing compared to what you see in other hostels here though!

Verified reviewNice hostel for the price I paid. Very friendly, loyal and kind owner Andreas deserves a separate gratitude 👍 The hostel overall is clean and tidy, you will find all necessary stuff for cooking in the kitchen. The location is in a safe district only 15 minutes by bus to the city center. If you aren't a demanding person then you will like it, but if you want a luxurious accommodation then you would better search for an expensive hotel . Recommend!

Verified reviewAt first I wasn’t so sure about this place… but it ended up being one of the greatest places I stayed on my whole trip! I met and made so many fantastic friends that I’ll never forget. The host was nothing short of spectacular he was so funny and so much fun to hangout with - he felt like another friend too!
It was pretty much perfect! Aside from one guest who is living there. Very strange, rude and egotistical. As a young solo female traveller I was glad I had such great friends staying with me - I couldn’t imagine having to see him alone at any stage. Our amazing host also made sure to look out for all us girls in those moments too!

Verified reviewI spend 3 night here and it was comfortable enough to take a good sleep. the baths and kitchen are also okey. It is 20-25 minutes to city center by bus. The guy who introduced me the room and hostel was really nice and friendly. Thank you
it would have been better if they also make some keys for the rooms as well. because it made me feel little bit unsafe just leave the room and leave my stuff there

Verified reviewHostel close to Lycabettus hill. Nothing special but cool place to crash. Very nice host. Everything you need for low price. AC is working and that's the most important in the summer in Athens.
It's a cheap hostel. If you expect 5-star hotel then you'll might be disappointed. But otherwise you'll be good.
