How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe staff / owner was super responsive, and they provided early check-in, which was much needed, as we were travelling all night to reach Halki. The location is super; on the way to Pondamos beach and 6-7 minutes to the port and 6-7 minutes to Pondamos beach.. uphill but not a major problem for us. The room was clean with slippers, toothbrush (not used, though), and a very well functioning a.c. Good mattress. Charming decoration.
Our room was rather small and basically with no direct outdoor access, and the only window was opening to a wall!! It's not the best place to stay if you feel claustrophobia. We couldn't close or open the window. Thus, we have requested a couple of times the owner to close or open the window to avoid the daylight, which would interrupt our sleep. The owner was always super responsive and polite. No cleaning, towels change etc has been offered during our 3 nights stay. Poor soundproof. Rather expensive considering what it offers (however, prices at Halki are rather high due to limited availability and not because the accommodation offers what it was supposed to offer based on the price). We have paid almost €130 per night. However, i can't claim that our expectations, have been exceeded.

Verified reviewI liked that the landlady sent her brother to let us in early, as I hadn’t responded to her calls. The location was near the top of the village, but just a gradual climb. The bonus was that it was nearer Pondamos beach. The room is in a lovely old stone house. Liked the decor and little personal touches. It was nice to sit out the front.
Nothing.

Verified reviewLovely old stone villa, ideally located between the pretty port and sandy Pondomas beach. It is uphill from port and beach but only short walk to both. Room small but clean and comfortable beds. Outside terrace, great space to relax with coffee and pastries bought from local bakery for breakfast or a glass of wine and your book. Eat at Black Sea and Valantis, drink at Steki where the owner is really friendly and can give you lots of information. Didn't meet Kleanthe but she left keys for us to find on arrival and phoned to check we were ok.
Nothing really. No port pick up and there appears to be only 1 taxi which we managed to get!!! Although Kleanthe is only about 5 minutes walk it is uphill if you have luggage.

Verified reviewA very tastefully decorated room with a very comfortable bed. It has a fridge, kettle, tv, and air conditioning. The shower was hot and powerful. Only a few minutes walk to the port. The front garden has tables, chairs, and umbrellas and is a nice, peaceful place to relax. There is also a clothes horse.
Room 3 has very little natural light due to the close proximity of the adjacent house. There is no holder for the shower head.

Verified reviewVery nice traditional building of Chalki. The outdoors area is super for chilling, reading a book etc. Room was spacious, super clean and comfortable providing everything one might need.
The interior renovation to convert it to a guest house and the chosen materials don’t do this amazing building justice.

Verified reviewA lovely traditional house with three individual rooms for guests in a great central location in Chalki. Just a 5 minute walk to Pondomos Beach, and a 15 minute walk to Ftegania Beach. The room was lovely and airy with a window we could open and good aircon. The shower had good pressure and hot water. There is also a nice terrace to enjoy drinks or breakfast. Easy walk to cafes, restaurants, and supermarkets.

Verified reviewA fantastic location - a few minutes to the harbour, a few minutes to the beach. Beautifully traditional outside but recently refurbished and immaculate and modern inside. Lovely outside space to sit and relax. Thank you, Kleanthe. We really enjoyed our stay.
We loved everything! The only thing that I would have liked would be a few hooks behind the doors. 😊

Verified reviewIt was far more beyond my expectations. Everthing was perfect. There were even an iron and tiny ironing board. The room and the bathroom were squeaky clean. It was a renovated old villa with high ceilings and a small but super cute garden with a lemon tree and flowers. It has a small veranda with sunshades and a place to hang your stuff. Everything was planned to comfort you during your stay. The location was too satisfaying, a few minutes to the beaches, supermarkets, restaurants and the only baker of Chalki. The bed was super comfortable, sheets and towels were so clean, soft and also fragrant.
There wasn't a showerhead in the bathroom to prevent water consumption i guess🤷♀️

Verified reviewNice interior, cable tv, modern shower, clean
The room I stayed was so very dark looking into a wall just outside the window (to the point one needs to switch the light on to operate) and this was not at all clearly stated in advance of my booking. Travelled to Halki for 4 days and this unpleasant surprise along with the noise from the street spoiled my holidays. I spent 2 days looking for another accommodation, despite having been fully charged for my booking at Kleanthe, to hopefully enjoy at least one day out of the 4 I had planned on the island. The owner did not take responsibility for this mess, they did not accept that they trick the visitor cultivating false expectations for the accommodation, but instead offered me 3 days for free at the same property if I ever come back to the island.

Verified reviewSuch an amazing accommodation in the quietest part of Chalki's town. The accommodation is within an old stone house tastefully restored and perfectly maintained. Kleanthe, the host, is extremely professional and takes excellent care of this place and her guests. The rooms are spacious, all facilities are brand-new (especially the air-con, that works like magic). We absolutely loved it here and would not hesitate one second to come back.

Verified reviewThe room was cozy
The paper plates and the plastic cutlet. We were not in a camping ! Fortunately they brought us bowls and spoons. The room was a bit small not enough space or table to put our things We were two and only 1 chair and a small table to make our breakfast and impossible to use the table of the diving room because no water and outside too hot and the umbrellas were not opened.
