Very small rooms. The location is in a secluded section. To get anywhere is a 15-20 minute walk very uphill (270 steps). No place to walk around.

The staff was great. The room has incredible views. Located right above small strip of restaurants but still very quiet. Short walk to very rocky swimming area with cliff jumping. Great patio.

We did not properly research the location or realize that Amoudi bay is quite a bit off the beaten path. It made it less convenient, especially when renting a car, to park and get it each day. But we figured it out and it worked out fine. It is not really a negative, but something to be aware of when booking Lava Stone. But really, There is no property on the island with a caldera view that is convenient if you have a car. The water from the shower ended up all over the floor. But it did this in our following hotel as well. We are not quite sure the European system of showering without a door and how to do it without making a huge mess!

The Lava Stone is a beautiful property in Amoudi Bay which is just below Oia. There are a few upscale restaurants and a few hotels. In the evening there is a lively vibe with the restaurants, especially at sunset and in the morning it is silent and so peaceful. There is a steep but short walk up the steps (270 ish steps) up into Oia where you have the iconic town of Santorini with views, shops and restaurants. Being close, you are able to get up there before the crowds if you are an early riser. Our room was exactly what we needed for a family of four. Our kids took the room with two twin beds which could be a king and the parents took the queen bed. Both rooms had their own bathroom. T=We had a small sitting area with refrigerator and coffee maker and outside a lovely patio with a view of the bay. Vicki, the hostess, is very helpful with advice and tips on the area.

Reception wasn’t extensive, but for our one night it wasn’t a big deal.

The view was fantastic. The room was beautiful. They gave us a welcome shot of a local greek fortified wine.

Perfect place to stay in oia

The location was a bit of a challenge to get to, specially if you have luggage. We had a rental car and had to park at the parking area on top of the hill. We were asked to take a free shuttle down to the village, however, the shuttle drivers were not willing to take our luggage down (these are large vans btw so plenty of space). We ended up driving our car down, having to explain to angry shuttle drivers and even the police stationed at the village. After dropping our luggage, had to immediately drive car back up and then shuttle down. There are a number of steps to get to this property, so pack light! We had to do this in reverse when we were leaving, although the property staff helped with luggage to the car and also drove me up to the parking to bring my car down to load. Also, the shuttles dont start operating till around 1200 hrs since they are primarily there to shuttle the restaurant/ tour passengers. So if you want to get anywhere early, be prepared to hike up to the parking lot (10 min walk up on paved path/ road). There are some taxis present who will take you up for 20-40 euro!

The property was clean and spacious for our family of 4. We really enjoyed sitting on the veranda (porch) in front of our suite and watching the ocean and boats morning and night. The property sits slightly above the fishing village of Ammoudi which has a bunch of upscale restaurants. There are also a number of boat trips that depart from the village so that is convenient. The views were amazing. There is a walking path up to Oia from the village, but far away from the hustle and bustle of Oia, specially when the cruise crowds arrive!! Staff and manager were incredibly helpful!

Probably just the drainage in the showers. The floor & the bath mats got saturated. Didn’t worry us but floor got pretty slippery.

EXCELLENT communication with Vicki!! Her prompt answers were wonderful to unsure travelers. The location was amazing, bit of a hike to the top but we knew that. The terrace had the most amazing views & the apartment was clean & comfortable.

You will need to go over steep steps to get to the apartment. Even more difficult to get to Oia town, especially from the Lava Stone property.

Great location, with the best view ever. Close to the restaurants, it is noisy. Bathrooms were tiny, and bed mattresses were uncomfortable. But the spectacular view diminishes all possible inconveniences.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lava Stone. The room was clean, modern and spacious with stunning views over the bay. Vicky was an extremely helpful host, providing us with recommendations for the island and booking a restaurant for our anniversary dinner. Would highly recommend to all travellers!

The location, it is not suitable for people with diability and if youre bringing big luggages since you have to climb up to reach the hotel. they have porter though
