Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BrazilWe stayed at Phaea Palace during the last part of our honeymoon, and while the hotel is beautiful and has some great things going for it, we left with mixed feelings—mainly because for the price we paid, we expected a much better overall experience. The room was nice, but honestly, we’ve stayed in better rooms for less (like Domus Noruz in Chania, for example). The private bathtub was completely closed off inside the bathroom, which made it hard to enjoy—it felt like we were stuck in a box, with no view or ambiance. The balcony and private pool area the is great—large and perfect for relaxing—however it lacked privacy, since people from other rooms and those walking by could see us pretty easily. The hotel itself is gorgeous, no doubt, but the rooms feel a bit dated when compared to some of the other places we stayed during this trip. On the bright side, the beach area is also beautiful and well-kept. The staff were all friendly, but our check-in experience wasn’t great. We weren’t walked through any of the hotel’s offerings—they just told us to download an app to find everything ourselves, which felt a bit impersonal, especially for a high-end stay. There are lots of services available (massages, treatments, etc.), but everything is very expensive. We had imagined this would be the most special and luxurious hotel of our honeymoon—we saved up to spend our last few nights here—but instead, it felt like we were in a place where everything came at an extra (and high) cost. So in short: if you have a flexible budget and don’t mind paying extra for every little thing, this might be a good fit. But if you’re like us—looking for something truly memorable and worth the investment—I’d recommend looking elsewhere.

United KingdomWe LOVED the ethos of the hotel, the friendliest staff, amazing food (no buffet dinner here!!!! Authentic Greek cuisine heaven), the personal touches and interactions with the senior management team, the unspoilt views…. Heaven. Can’t wait to go back.

United KingdomWe booked a room with sea view but got a room that looked at the back of another building (got another room after we complained). Hotel hosted an incentive trip for a company who played games at the hotel facilities, were loud and partied all night. I don't think that these type of guests belong into any place that considers themselves part of the Luxury Collection. Actually this experience made it quite an ordinary place for a couple of days.
Beautiful location and friendly staff.

United StatesI didn't like our initial drive to the location because we went through the path in the mountain but that's not the resort's fault. One thing though there weren't a lot of usable outlets, especially near the nightstands would have been nice.
Loved the view! The breakfast was also delicious and the staff there was so incredibly accommodating and welcoming. Also, the water pressure from the shower was amazing and I loved having complementary water refreshed daily.

United KingdomThe only negative I would say is we didn’t end up dining at The Blue Door, which we’d heard was the best restaurant at the hotel. You have to book restaurants in advance - we’d done so and booked The Blue Door 2 nights in a row but our reservation was cancelled due to bad weather on each of those nights. On our final night we went to book but were offered times that wouldn’t work for the children so had to decline. My only comment would be in situations such as this, the concierge should prioritise customers that have been cancelled on and given opportunity to book before taking others bookings.
We’ve just returned from Blue Palace Elounda and would definitely recommend. As a family of 4 with two young children (1 + 3), finding a hotel that is luxurious for the adults, but a child friendly environment isn’t always the easiest. The staff were very attentive and brilliant with the kids which makes a big difference! To name a few - Niki, Vaso, Maria and Joanna (who run the restaurants) and Maria (who runs the kids club). We visited Maria on two of the days with the little ones and they loved her - she's super warm and loving to the children and they just loved having the play area and toys around! Location was great - the small village Plaka was walkable for local restaurants and the restaurants onsite at hotel served great food. Hotel is nicely decorated, it’s just the bathrooms in the rooms that could do with a bit of modernising, but I heard that that’s in the plan soon. Overall, great hotel. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable!

United KingdomBeing charged for a child bed 70 euros a night. Prices of spa treatments way too expensive Lack of tasteful musical entertainment I would have like to see more Greek touches to the entertainment: in one week I haven’t heard a single Greek music or seeing green dance We only had blasting Dj at bar and pool party
Faultless service : excellence throughout. Beautiful - breathtaking location Fabulous facilities: Gym, hammam, beach/sun beds well managed, fab boat trip Excellent breakfast cocktails

United KingdomNothing apart from sometimes you have to wait a few minutes for the cable car to take you down to the beach/pool area 🙂
Everything was good, location was perfect, the staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming and helpful. The staff and layout of the hotel made us feel like we were staying in a small boutique hotel rather than a resort. The food was unbelievably good and there was plenty of space/privacy on the beach and around the swimming pool (even though we were there at the height of the summer season). The rooms, restaurant and common areas were tastefully decorated with a level of uniqueness that's hard to find in large resorts. We were sad to leave and will be definitely be back in future years!!

FranceThe noise when the staff clear the tables at breakfast and noisily put the chairs back. The fact that some people “pre-book” the front row sun-beds on the beach early in the morning by putting their stuff on them and only come back in the afternoon. The individual pool in the room was pretty cold compared to the main pools of the hotel and unfortunately we therefore only used it once.
Everything ! But most particularly the view on the Spinalonga island, the breakfast, the bed, the kindness of the staff.
