I really enjoyed my stay at this place, it’s located above the Kolimvari and so you can have great view on the sunrise, then have a friendly chat with your host, get real Greek coffee, cool down in the pool and then go out to enjoy the beauty of Crete.

This is the most relaxing place we stayed at on our visit. It is in a quiet and peaceful area with amazing views. Mary is the most kind and welcoming host, always available if needed but not imposing on your privacy. The pool was stunning as its all natural with no chemicals. The authentic cretan house has been beautifully renovated.We loved this place so much and hope to return. Thank you Mary!

For most people there would be absolutely nothing not to like but I have mobility issues so getting up the few stairs without a banister into the courtyard was a bit tricky. (But absolutely worth the effort). If staying again I would ask for the downstairs room that is next to the pool so that you only have to get up into the courtyard on arrival and when leaving the premises.

This was not just a stay, this was a whole wonderful experience of staying in a lovingly restored typical Cretan house in a typical Cretan village where the roads are too narrow to get a car down. Every part of the renovation has been sympathetically restored with high quality materials. It has charm in abundance!! Mary was so sweet and caring for our very best experience, even making us a breakfast on our last morning which was quite a surprise.

My wife and I stayed at Sclopa The Laography Project on our honeymoon in mid-September 2024. The elegance, charm, historicity, and comfort of the boutique hotel’s rooms and common spaces astounded us to the point that my well-traveled wife remarked that it was the best stay of her life around a hotel or Airbnb. The rooms are thoughtfully stocked with beautiful plates and cutlery as well as a table for eating and a dedicated sink for cleaning up after meals. A very warm mother and her son own Sclopa. The mother lives on site and prepared us a delicious complementary breakfast from scratch on our last morning. Her son is an Athens-based archeologist who spared no expense or attention to detail in lovingly and painstakingly renovating the 300-year-old five-home building into a truly remarkable hotel. The son even published a book in Greek, English, and French that details the history of the property and explains all the typical design features of Cretan houses using examples from the exterior and the rooms. A nice bonus is the hotel’s accessibility to both Crete’s main highway and a solid town, both just a couple of minutes away. My wife and I already cannot wait to return for a second stay.

Nothing was wrong. Everything was excellent, which is quite rare.

Great place. It was perfect for our holidays. Stelios was an amazing host. The room was a great size, perfectly clean, and very comfortable. The pool was perfect for a relaxing evening swim after going to the amazing beaches around Hania all day. Location was excellent as you can reach the important beaches faster than staying in Hania and you can go to Hania for the evening quite easily.

Such a beautiful space with historical value. The rental was clean, well organized and very comfortable. The hospitality was beyond good and very personable. The pool was very relaxing and the common area adorable. Such a beautiful and unique place to stay.

The pillows and the bed were not that comfy and soft. But i guess it depends on the preferences the firmness of the mattress/pillows.

The property is a very beautiful architectural project, the house being old over 200 years. All the elements of the design were chosen very carefully, making an amazing and relaxing scenary. The pool area was one of the best things.

Our reservation is not defined by the reviews, that's why we don't do reviews! But here we have to! It is a hospitality that exceeds all expectations! We did not feel unwelcome or uncomfortable for a single moment. all were made with so much love and attention that nothing deprives the joy of the calmness of the relaxation of the beauty! We stayed 20 days in Crete, the hospitality we experienced here was nowhere to be found to such an extent, nor the balance of materials and the authentic traditional architecture and decoration! Extending our stay was an unexpected gift that we give to us! Our return is a promise to ourselves! Staying at Sclopa Laographico is an experience of a lifetime! Thank you Marie! Thanks for all !!
