How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewIncredible location. Vasilikos is an amazing accommodation with the best view.. The staff is amazing. Vanessa who is now in charge was at our disposal all the time for anything we needed, as was Christos and the rest of the team. We will definitely visit it in the future. Personally it has the best sunset with a view of the volcano Thirassia and the caldera of Imerovigli and from below the cruise ships.

Verified reviewI loved how private this property is despite being a short walk to town. Felt truly secluded and so romantic with so many nice touches throughout. The plunge pools were fantastic and it's the best spot to catch a sunset. The staff at the property are a true class act who go above and beyond to make your stay wonderful. The candle lit dinner served private on our terrace was so lovely and some of the best food we had on the trip. We loved every second.
Nothing.

Verified reviewReally great location separate from the hustle and bustle of Oia and Fira, but still close enough to Fira. Dimitris and co were incredibly welcoming and helped us book experiences and gave us good dining suggestions. Beautiful view, and our room (Efta) was right along the edge, a little scary but breathtaking. Breakfast was filling and delicious.
Not a fault of the property, but reminder that TP can’t be flushed on the island due to the sewage infrastructure.
Dear Aaron, thank you for your kind words and the useful reminder. Indeed, the sewage system does not allow for toilet paper, and water is scarce, so we ask our guests to keep both these things in mind, and hope it will not have a major impact on their stay. Thank you for coming! Warmest wishes, Daphne

Verified reviewI did a three week trip through Greece that ended in Santorini at The Vasilicos, which rightly saved the best for last. It is a unique place where you immediately feel at home, not least because of the fantastic staff who really think of everything and do everything to give you an unforgettable time. An unforgettable five days it have become, each one ending at the edge of the pool with the red-golden sunset over the caldera. The Vasilicos is a place that lets you bathe in luxury and gives you a feel for the traditions and history of Santorini as well. Highly recommended!
Nothing!
Dear Richard, what a kind and heart- warming review, thank you so much! Happy to hear you found a favourite corner, and a ritual. It sounds like our place like no other also became your place like no other, at least for a little while! Warmest wishes, Daphne

Dear Rebecca, thank you for your kind words. The location and the service, the two things that are most important when it comes to choosing a hotel! Very happy to hear you appreciated both! Warmest wishes, Daphne

Verified reviewAmazing boutique hotel, with extremely well maintained. Views are better than the photos show. Dimitris will take care of you and organise anything you need, Chris also was always there for anything we needed for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Dear Lalitha, thank you for your kind words; it is true that no photo can ever capture the bliss of total immersion in the Caldera views! I hope the memories stay with you for a long time to come! Warmest wishes, Daphne

Verified reviewWe had the absolute best experience here. Every single staff member is so friendly and attentive! The food was fantastic - the breakfast was healthy, with special treats that varied each morning. The Aegean meze was one of the best meals we had on our entire two week trip. The room was beautiful and comfortable, with one of the best views on the island. I wholeheartedly recommend staying here!
Nothing, it was perfect!
Dear Zach, thank you for your warm review, so happy you had dinner at The Vasilicos - it is designed to be a roundup of all the things you came for! Warmest wishes, Daphne

Verified reviewFantastic views from the hillside overlooking the port. Walking distance to town. Friendly and supportive staff.
Not at all significant, but the rooms are literally caves dug into rock. No windows, only the light from doorway enters the room. Wish there were more options for access to the island. A ferry strike stranded us for one day in Paris. As a result we had to pay an extra night there plus the scheduled night at the Vasilicos. No fault of the hotel, who required full payment in advance, but disappointing that we were charged full price for a missed night due to a strike.
Dear Daniel, thank you for taking the time to review us. Indeed, Santorini architecture is unique - the hyposkafa are dug into the volcanic rock, it is a rare and very special method of building, and actually it is part of what guests come to Santorini to experience - I am very sorry if it wasn't quite your cup of tea. I must note that the vast majority of suites are quite light, as they feature multiple windows and skylights apart from the door/doors. Regarding access to the island, Santorini airport is actually one of the best serviced airports in Greece, with direct flights from most main airports in Europe, and multiple flights a day from Athens. Multiple boats also arrive daily. I am very sorry about the strike, it was indeed very unfortunate - I know that you are in touch with our reservations department who are supplying all necessary documents to support your claim for a refund from the parties responsible, and I hope you succeed soon. Once again, thank you for coming, I hope that the fond memories of your holidays stay with you for a long time to come. Warmest wishes, Daphne

Very friendly staff which is always here to help and serve us. Very good breakfast which they make depending on your diet. I had a very good stay.

Verified reviewStaff was amazing. Such hard workers. They treated us like family. Shout out to Chris (or Kris) and Dimitri, and the girls (sorry did not get both your names).
lots of stairs, 53 up, 53 down.
Dear Terri, thank you for your kind words! Technically speaking, we are a seaview, cliffside hotel - for anyone reading this, we are located on the stunning Santorini Caldera, and the sea is 300 meters below. The amphitheatrical nature of the Caldera that offers these magnificent views is also responsible for any steps - compared to other hotels, The Vasilicos has relatively few, depending also on each suite - Efta, for example, which is our most private suite, has the greatest number of steps...but also the most breathtaking proximity to the cliffs and sea below. We hope the memories stay with you for a long time to come! Warm regards, Daphne

The hotel is below a popular sunset spot ,might lose little privacy but it didnt bother us too much as i saw othe hotels more exposed to the walking tourists
Dear Andrea, thank you for your warm words, we are such a tiny hotel that we are able to at least try to keep everything perfectly curated - our vision is to create a little capsule of beauty and serenity in a busy and chaotic world. Thank you for coming! Warmest wishes, Daphne

Service was very keen and attentive although breakfast timings were a little erratic, but a very minor quibble.
Dear Rosalind, thank you for your kind words - apologies about the erratic breakfast timings you experienced, breakfasts are a very finely balanced choreography because all rooms request breakfast at more or less the same time. Usually we pull it off seamlessly, but in your case obviously not. I am very sorry about this, I hope we made up for it in other ways. Warmest wishes, Daphne
