Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

It was clean and had everything we needed. In a fantastic location - beds were comfortable, air con worked well and shower was lovely and hot! It was incredibly reasonable and staff were really friendly. We didn’t have our terrace but there was a lovely shared area where we could sit and have a drink. Would stay there again without a doubt.

AustraliaThe directions to get to the property are unclear and it’s quite difficult to find. The shower pressure was poor and there was nowhere to put the shower head so you need to hold it the entire time.

United KingdomThough the room had a fridge, there is a fantastic outside area where we would have liked the provision of some plates and cutlery to of sat there with slices of fruit etc.
Hydra is truly magical and Theano Guesthouse gave my daughter and I the opportunity to enjoy the island. The room was basic, but it all worked with very helpful staff. Fantastic shower, great location. We were so happy to of stayed there.

United StatesI did get lost trying to find it the first time. The internet on Hydra was non existent once I left the harbor and the signs for the hotel are small, so you have to pay close attention to the 3 signs that are high above eye sight. Otherwise it was great. Don’t bring large pieces of luggage, it is a hike up a lot of stairs to get there.
The hotel is cute and comfortable, the building is traditional and has many old fixtures that made it feel authentic to the town. The staff is friendly and helpful.

NetherlandsThe commute there, as you’ve read is high up, but it is nothing a healthy adult cannot do! Islanders of all ages live high up on Hydra, and do it every day.
The rooms are well equipped. My sister and I stayed in a room with twin beds with comfortable mattresses. We had clean towels, a mini fridge, shampoo and soap. There was a working air conditioning in the room which we didn’t and up using, as there was a cool breeze from the balcony. The room was clean and had a nice view from the balcony.

FranceYou need to sleep with air conditioning (because you need to close the windows) if you don't want to be bitten by mosquitoes! Early checkout. contrary to what was written on the page, there is no breakfast included, and no furnished kitchen, so you can't prepare your own breakfast either. Not even a kettle!
Calm guesthouse on top of the hill. Bed was ok. Room was calm. More affordable than other hotels on the island at the time of booking. Large fridge in the room (though a bit noisy)

South Korea- People with heavy luggage may have trouble carrying it uphill. - The beds were uncomfortable and squeaky; consider bringing earplugs if you have a large group ;)
- I guess all places on Hydra are beautiful; this guesthouse is a bit further up the hill, which provides a bit more silence and peace - The staff is very helpful and friendly - We had the room with a window overlooking the lemon tree. I could not imagine a better morning than opening the window and looking at the view!

AustraliaThe hot water system is inadequate, as two nights I couldn’t get any hot water and another night just warm water. After the first night, I was changed from a room with a nice view to one with wall views and curtains that didn’t block out the light sufficiently. The kitchenette is very narrow and also a passage way for staff and other guests, with cigarette smoking smell there on one occasion. The latch on one of my shutters was unable to securely close the shutter. The hand held shower had no wall hook to allow you to shower hands free.
It is a charming old stone building with light airy rooms and pleasant courtyard dining, also a nice view out to the mountain at the back. It is very close to Leonard Cohen’s house and the 4 Corners store, with Kamini restaurants/harbour not too far away. It was a reasonable price, compared to those close to the harbour. The staff were very pleasant and helpful too. I got plenty of exercise climbing up the 246 steps from the harbour, so it was good for weight loss. ;-)

United StatesDue to the upper location, there is not much choice of dinning if you do not walk down to the harbor. Google map has the correct location, but if you follow booking.com's GPS location which is linked to Google map directly, the location is 100 meters off. So, just search Theano Guesthouse directly in Google map. Don't link it to booking.com
Room is clean, and staff is very kind. The location is half way on the slope rather than at the harbor, but I consider that plus rather than minus because it is not too steep a climb----if your luggage is not too heavy. And walking in those small alleys is fun.
