Great location, well maintained property, most days the space at the pool was absolutely sufficient. Small bathroom but for us absolutely ok. Great AC. Extremely attentive/fast room cleaning. Just a 15 min drive from downtown. Ioannis and the staff were super friendly.

We only had one major improvement point: Breakfast was below what I would expect - for such standard. More fresh food (as opposed to packaged food; everything was absolutely edible and not „old“) and slight variations would be great. Other smaller points include that bed could be slightly bigger and mattresses more comfortable. Parking on site was sometimes full (and a bit narrow), but behind the house is another unofficial parking spot so no issues. And beach beds (for guests to take to the beach) were quite run down/broken/not suitable for strong wind.

I had a fantastic stay at Valena Mare. The staff are exceptionally friendly and truly service-minded, always going out of their way to make you feel welcome. The atmosphere is incredibly peaceful and relaxing. Plaka beach is beautiful and quiet. If you’re heading to Naxos to relax and recharge, I can wholeheartedly recommend Valena Mare.

Perfect stay for our trip to Naxos! Firstly, our host went above and beyond to make everything easy for us, from arranging a car, to provide recommendations on activities around the island, but also when our ferry got cancelled due to bad weather to help us by keeping us updated and accommodating the additional night needed! The accomodation itself was just perfect, 5 minutes walk from the beach, with a really enjoyable swimming pool especially after a long day discovering the island. The car park was convenient as we rented a car for the duration of our stay. The breakfast was amazing, and helped to make the best start of each day. Finally the room had everything we needed, the bed was comfortable, and it was all super clean. Overall, strongly recommend this place for anyone who wants to discover Naxos!

Nothing, it was a perfect stay

The place is very cosy. The pool área is nice, clean and relaxing. We really enjoyed Naxos temperature in June at the pool lal day. We loved the kindness of the staff, they help you a lot with everything, and waited for us as we arrived late. We loved also that we had cleaning every day, meanwhile we were having breakfast, so we you get back to your room, everything is clean and you didn't even notice when they do it.

We love Valena Mare, we have been there before. The breakfast was not ideal for my 4 years old child this year so Yannis went to buy some fresh milk, Nutella and other things. For his birthday he even made a little present! Thank you!!

Bathroom was way too small in this year’s room. Also WiFi connection to be improved inside the room.

Very well kept, green, quiet, relaxing, close to the beach (5min walk), free parking (pro tip: rent a small car, it will be so mich easier for you on the island!), continental breakfast is included, small kitchenette in the room is available.

We stayed at Valena Mare in mid-May 2025 for four nights (originally five, but our flight was canceled), and it turned out to be a lovely and relaxing experience. The property is tucked away down a narrow dirt road, but once you arrive, you're greeted by lush landscaping that not only adds charm but also helped shield us from the strong winds one day—an unexpected bonus! Check-in was smooth and easy, and we were warmly welcomed. Our double room was clean and functional, with a small fridge and a tiny stove—perfect for light meals. The air conditioning worked great, and the shower had good pressure, We didn’t get a chance to use the pool, but it looked very inviting. We did take advantage of the laundry service (15€), which was super convenient. What truly made our stay special was Giannis, the host. He went above and beyond to make my birthday memorable with a surprise bottle of wine, a delicious cake, and fresh strawberries. His local recommendations were spot-on, and he was always available and helpful. The location is fantastic—right near Plaka Beach, one of the most beautiful on the island. With our rental car, it was easy to explore the area and get around. We’d absolutely recommend Valena Mare to anyone looking for a peaceful, personal, and authentic stay in Naxos. And yes—we’d definitely return!

the Shower design did let a bit of water escape. Wi-Fi was a bit spotty at times, but manageable. Breakfast was simple and adequate, though it lacked variety—possibly due to the early season and limited staff.

Once again thank you for the nice service. We have been enjoying the oasis of the Valena Mare garden. Thank you to the host family and her team. It was the 1st,but we think not the last time at Valena Mare!

Taxi ride from Naxos Town in expensive, so having a hire car is best.

Wow the apartments were breathtaking, great pool beautifully clean, the gardens were also stunning too! The hosts were amazing and helpful too. Nothing was too much trouble for them. I can not fault the standard of the apartments at all. We made friends with all the kitty's which is a bonus for me as I love cats The beach isn't far to walk to but be aware that the apartments are in an extremely remote place of an extremely large beach so to find any form of bar or restaurant it's a bit of a walk. If you go with children please also be aware that this part of the beach allows nudity (absolutely no problem for us but we didn't know until we got there) Breakfast was lovely but not included.

No shops, restaurants, supermarkets at all near by. (I should have looked closer at the reviews before booking) You have to walk quite far on the beach to get to the bus stop which is fine by day but at night felt a little bit strange as it is so quiet and dark so you need a touch for sure. It's great if you have a car but if you don't drive or don't like driving abroad then it would become quite annoying Everytime you wanted anything. The apartment could do with some form of shop or restaurant for people staying that don't want to travel 3 miles to get some drinks or food.

The staff go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and very welcomed. Elena is an absolute pleasure, the breakfast is simple and delicious, and it's located 2 mins drive to Plaka beach and close to the centre. A car is definitely recommended to get around the island

Everything was great

Very nice and relaxing atmosphere, away from crowds in Naxos town. Perfect for enjoying the fantastic Plaka Beach . Very good breakfast! Great support from Elena, she suggested us to rent a car to drive to different places and managed it: Perfect suggestion as hotel is far from town and taxi are expensive.

Access is driving through a sand path, GPS required to find it. But it is worth it!!

It is a quiet and beautiful place with a lovely garden and a pool. It is located really close to plaka Beach. The staff is very welcoming and the breakfast is delicious. I strongly recommend it!

Swimming pool and breakfast

The moment we arrived at the hotel Elena greeted us with an open heart and smile, we felt right at home. She sat with us, gave us fruits and a drink and explained everything we needed to know. She was so kind and really made an amazing start to the holiday. The hotel is perfect, so beautiful and clean, the pool is perfect! There's some walk from the property to the beach. I strongly recommend renting a car (if you need an automatic one like me better order before hand) and driving to more remote beaches. Also if you need a taxi from the port to the hotel better ask the hotel to send you one because taxi drivers don't like to drive there.

The Valena Mare is located a little way from the main tourist area, so a car is almost essential. However, we opted not to have a car, so we walked along a track then the beach (a torch is needed). Most evenings we caught the bus, which runs every 30 minutes in high season, up and down the plaka beach area all the way into the chora. At just 2.30 euros a journey, it was comfortable, cheap and very efficient. The apartment was very quiet and the staff so friendly, helpful and attentive.

Pack a good anti mossie lotion as they are very sneaky pests!
