For me and my family the most beautiful place we ever booked through booking, everything was perfect. Cleanliness and friendliness at a high level, breakfast excellent. Who wants peace and quiet, and the city is 7 minutes away by car, perfect. Towels are changed every day, bed linen for three days, the pool is perfect, there are showers and toilets even below... many greetings to the owners once again.

We had an excellent stay at Volidiera Guesthouse. The room was very clean and comfortable. Every morning we had a nice breakfast at the garden of the guesthouse. The owners were always willing to help and provide us with info about the island.

Having to leave at the end of our stay.

As seasoned travellers, every now and then you happen upon an absolute gem and this is undoubtedly the case with Volidiera Guesthouse. Anna and her team have created a haven of peace and tranquility that we cannot recommend enough. The location is wonderfully quiet with lovely views, the room was delightful, the pool excellent and breakfast in the garden each morning is going to be sorely missed. Not in the habit of waxing lyrical but in this case, credit to where it is due and thoroughly deserved. Well done Anna, you have not seen the last of us… David & Deena

The bed could have used a mattress topper. A bit hard for my hips.

Everything!!! The villa was incredible, perfectly idyllic and totally relaxing. Room was beautiful and quiet. It was just magic and we loved everything about it. The breakfast was great, and made with love. The pool was a great escape. The location was close enough to everything but far enough away from busyness. Loved that when we came back from breakfast our room was cleaned and bed made. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

We didn't found anything which disturbed or disappointed us. However, you need to have right expectation - this is not a 5-star hotel with all the options. This is very comfortable value for money place, which deserves high scores for what they are doing.

Volidiera Guesthouse is a very charming family run business, which creates a very special feeling from the start. It is a big house transformed into small hotel with nice rooms and big lobby. Our room was on a ground floor with a green place in front of it, where we could seat, dry our staff after swimming etc. Air conditioning worked well, as well as Internet connection. Every day at 9 o'clock breakfast was served, not so much variety, but all basic food usually consumed in the morning was there: yogurt, sandwiches, cheese, fruits, bakery. So, it was fully ok to have breakfast. Territory of the hotel is big and taken by nice garden with olive trees around. Swimming pool is about 50m from the house and also surrounded with trees which creates very nice and comfy atmosphere especially when no one in the pool (which happened often - 3 times we were absolutely alone there). Overall that place is very relaxing, slowing down and good for people looking for calm vacation. One more benefit is location - as it's 8 min from the city, and a lot of nice beaches are around in 10-30 min reach from the house. So, when on car (and car is the must to have there) there are lot of options to reach in less then 30 min.

We were met by the friendly family who own the beautiful guest house and shown to our room. We had booked a double room but unfortunately we were given a single room which had a double mattress in a mezzanine, the access was up a very steep ladder which unfortunately we could not manage easily. On speaking to the owner she agreed to move us after 2 nights and we moved to a beautiful double with a better sized shower. The guest house is in beautiful grounds with an oasis of a welcomed swimming pool. Breakfast was good, but we could only eat in the garden which had limited shade. The only real negative for me, was that whilst I like cats, you need to love them to stay comfortably. There are numerous around who obviously use the garden as a toilet. It can be a little smelly when having breakfast. Overall I enjoyed my stay once we had moved rooms, but we did leave one night early as we were told we had to return back to the original room The family work very hard and deserve the best....x

The possibility to drink a cocktail or get a bottle of wine in the evening would be a good addition to the otherwise perfect guesthouse.

Rosa and her mother Ana made us feel like we were visiting the family. The house is so cosy and the breakfast was prepared with love and was very varied. In a well-located and tasteful atmosphere, we quickly got into a relaxed state and enjoyed the peaceful surroundings. And -we had a great time by the pool. All in all, we had a fantastic time. The Volidiera Guesthouse is highly recommended.

Everything was perfect.

It feels like a mansion from the past, kind of the ones you see in movies. It’s really quiet as it’s surrounded by trees and it’s only 8 minutes drive from Lixouri, which means you’re close to everything you might need. Everything is well organised so by the owners so we didn’t have to look for them and ask for anything. The cleanliness and the many different plants around the property shows how much they care about their guests and the do everything with love. The breakfast was different every day so everyone can be pleased. I would definitely stay again.

Almost nothing, only it would be nice to have easier access to glasses for water or other drinks after breakfast time.

The setting was perfect, peaceful, relaxing, not too far away from anywhere but not too close either. The whole hotel was very clean. The breakfast was great with lovely home cooked food. Rosalia was a wonderful host.

There's really nothing I didn't like.

This is a family run guest house, it is like being at home. You couldn't wish for a more peaceful place to have a break. Surrounded by gardens you are able to choose a good breakfast from the options on offer, each day you will get eggs in a different way, Greek yoghurt and cereal, fruit and plates of savoury or sweet pastries, copious amounts of coffee or tea and fruit juice.

Charming room with beautiful views on two sides and lovely gardens.

Unfortunately, I can not give two thumbs up for this place. I`ve read some nice feedbacks about the host`s welcoming and the way they make you feel like home. But that`s exactly where the problem is. The guesthouse has it`s rules.. The staff comes late in a morning and breakfast is served 9 o`clock sharply and better not be late if you don`t wanna have leftovers on your table. So all the guests come down to the terrace at the same time and makes the breakfast time far not so peaceful. Meanwhile the room maid cleans the rooms starting 9 o`clock, all of them in like 20 minutes, leaving the floor untouched, of course. When I asked the hosts why does the breakfast have to start so late, I`ve got the answer that the guests need to rest until 9 o`clock. So I guess we were guests not enough. And I didn`t buy those attentive host`s faces saying ``look how bad we`re trying for you``. The worst is location of the place. After you`re done with your late breakfast good luck to get any beach on the island faster than 30 minutes. Rental car is a must. But if you are happy with late breakfast and spending time in a car half of a day all together before you get to some beach, this guesthouse is maybe for you. I know all the places of stay have their own shortcomings but let`s be honest it sucks when they don`t meet the expectations.

- [ ] Attention! It is not as advertised. There are a number of problems not detected in photos or guest reviews: 1) We were allocated to a room literally one meter away from the reception on the ground floor and given that there was no soundproofing at all in the building, you could hear every small noice or talking from the lounge from very early in the morning till late at night and, vice versa, everybody could hear you, even when using the toilet. 2) We love the cats on the premises but we definitely don’t like finding cat hair in the bread spread at breakfast. It is perfectly fine to have pets in a guesthouse, as long as you keep extra levels of cleanliness which the owners did not (e.g. as natural as it is to find a cat eating a dead mouse in the terrace in front of our room it is also a matter of hygiene for the owners to remove it asap). Basically you have to live among cats and if someone is allergic or pregnant or merely does not feel comfortable this is an issue of which they have not been warned. 3) The sheets were synthetic and when we kindly asked to change them with cotton ones we were lied at that they were not synthetic and then faced with anger and rudeness, as if we were being capricious; 4) An awful smell from the drainage was coming in waves in the room, making it hard to relax and enjoy the holiday; 5) A book shelf fell on my head in the room because it was not screwed well on the wall and when I mentioned it to the owner she didn’t apologize and again felt as if I did something wrong. - [ ] We are sure Rosalia is a nice person but she and her mother are highly unprofessional and not fit for the job of hospitality. The whole place is a facade, looks nice pictures but nothing like it in reality.
