How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Verified reviewLocation was amazing, the staff cleaned as much as they could and they were very helpfull.
Room needs renovation, I can understand it is an old building but the worst part is that the renovation is made with the cheapest materials. Kitchen has all the equipment that you dont use at your home.

Nothing that I personally didn’t like except may not be suitable for anyone with mobility issues as the house has stairs which lead up to the bedroom which may not be suitable for everyone .

Verified reviewLocation and views great. Big room, very clean and cleaned every day. Water and tea coffee in room which was great as were delayed. Great communication with host. Lovely bar area.
Shower was very small and sprayed out of the curtain which was so close it was touching my skin. Could have done with a small set of drawers to put tshirts/shorts etc as only place available was the rail to hang things up. Managed ok though as left in packing cubes in the case. Only little things though. Made up for by the view.

Verified reviewI'm surprised that Xenones Lindos has many good reviews - checking them once again, I guess the rooms have different standard (even within the same price band). It should not be the case. So just to be clear, it's probably better to pay a little extra and get a room with the balcony to make sure it will be spacious and bright. The location is nice. Staff is easy to contact. The view fro the shared tarrace is beautiful.
Our room A2 had the door and window open directly on patio. There's no privacy. The room is small and dark. I understand the price is reasonable but the photos and description should be more accurate.
Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time. Indeed, we are glad we have so many returning happy customers the last 18 years. Reason for this, is because we offer nothing but, basic, clean, simple village accommodation. Its well known to the visitors of Lindos, that the village is famous for the ground level sharing pebble lovely courtyards. Private balconies, high floors, private patios, can only be found in some luxury - expensive villas / accommodations or very limited units originally built this way. We are sorry to read you were not aware of this. Same applies to our property. Only two of our studios originally built a big higher and offering private patio / balcony, usually booked out many months up front. Your room was 18sqm way above average comparing to Lindos accommodations and definately extremely value for money. It comes with two large window which we advised you to us and open and a lovely spacious courtyard overlooking the Acropolis and part of the bay. Not sure what else would someone ask, especially for the range of price you paid :) Pics are more than precise that is why they are not professional and have been there 10 years now. So do not be surprise that we have good reviews :), its all about expectations you might have vs reality (in our case traditional, basic, clean and safe hospitality) All of our units are same standards and bookings allocated randomly. It‘s not clean, when we came there was trash in the trash can. The room we got also doesn’t have enough ventilation but the rooms with balcony are ok, they are bright and airy.

We can see that you only stayed with us for one night. Although nothing has been mentioned to our team during your check in, short stay we would like to apologize for the inconvenience the trash in the can might have caused you and rest assured this consists an exception as a result of our heavy work flow. Again we would have solved it on the spot, should you have informed us. Last, Lindos is famous for the ground level sharing courtyard studios. An extremely small number of rooms in the village , as well as our property built a bit higher and offering a private patio / balcony.
