Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustriaIt’s a pity we did not book more nights in this accommodation. We travelled through Guatemala and this was kind of a break from our tight schedule and we couldn’t be happier. The accommodation is amazing (the scenery made me forget the fact we had to share a bathroom with the other guests), and the whole staff is kind and nice. Definitely a recommendation and, if I ever go back to Guatemala, I will definitely book a (longer) stay here!

United StatesA small suggestion would be to offer more flexible complimentary boat schedules to better match guest arrival and departure times, as the current limited options can be inconvenient. Coordinating boats/lanchas based on guest schedules could improve convenience while still supporting Boatique’s eco-friendly mission. Additionally, increasing bathroom availability by adding more public bathrooms would enhance guest comfort—especially those booked in dormitory rooms.
Boatique Hotel was an unforgettable highlight of our family trip to Guatemala — a perfect blend of natural beauty, striking architecture, and a strong commitment to sustainability. From the moment we arrived by boat, the ambiance felt both magical and meaningful. The resort’s eco-conscious approach, including efforts to reduce waste and emissions, stood out, as did its support for local communities by employing Guatemalan staff—uplifting nearby villages. The food was another highlight: everything was made from fresh, local ingredients, with a clear emphasis on natural, sustainable sourcing. This gave our stay a deeper sense of purpose and connection. What truly made our experience exceptional, however, were two standout team members: Sheni and Silvia. Both managed multiple roles with grace and dedication, ensuring every part of our stay felt personal and memorable. Sheni’s warmth and attentiveness were constant throughout our visit, while Silvia impressed us with her professionalism as both a host and massage therapist. Their efforts, along with the entire hardworking team, left a lasting impression — making Boatique not just a place to stay, but a place we’ll always remember. We left refreshed and full of gratitude, already looking forward to returning.

United KingdomI found some of the prices of certain things to be a little crazy for Guatemala…for example the kayak hire. The food was a little expensive for what it was so isn’t suitable for folks travelling on a budget. It also took a long time to be prepared. The boat to Lívingston offered was incredibly overpriced in my opinion at 200 per person?!
Really awesome, friendly staff and a fantastic project supporting local people. The property is super peaceful and beautiful, surrounded by incredible nature and animals. Kayaking is available.

SwitzerlandWe thought it unfortunate that only 6 boats a day are free. It would be better if for check-in and check-out one boat ride (only 5 min anyways) would be free…
It was beautiful and very relaxing. We loved it here, it is a real oasis to relax. I even got a massage for a fair price and loved it very much. Freddie, the bartender, was super fun too. We stayed in two different hotels in Rio Dulce and would recommend this one over the other ;) The food of the restaurant was fairly priced and delicious! Thank you for this great stay

United KingdomThere are only 3 showers and 3 toilets, most of the time this was fine but a couple of times we had to coordinate.
The location was great, and the cabanas were spacious, clean and felt like a little bit of jungle luxury. We loved the pool space, the exercise area and the hammocks. The restaurant area was lovely and we could choose whether we wanted a private dinner table or to eat and socialise on the communal table. Loved the food, other reviews said food was expensive but we found it in line with lots of other restaurants across Guatemala. Special shout out to: - Jessie for being such a wonderful host, translating when we needed and being such a warm presence in the hotel - Sheny for diligently checking all ingredients in my food as I am allergic to gluten - Fredy always served our meals with a huge smile and provided great service - Sylvia was so helpful in liaising with the owners to last minute add an extra night to our stay because our shuttle canceled due to protests Would really recommend staying here if you visit Rio dulce

GreeceΑn absolute gem, hidden in the heart of Guatemala’s jungle. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed into an atmosphere that blends breathtaking natural beauty with genuine hospitality. The hotel’s commitment to sustainability is evident in every detail. Thoughtfully designed to blend seamlessly with its surroundings, it allows you to fully immerse yourself in nature without sacrificing comfort. The accommodations are spotless, cozy, and filled with unique charm that reflects the local culture. But what truly makes Boatique special is its people. The staff (who are from the local community) go above and beyond to ensure every guest feels at home. Their warmth, kindness, and dedication to exceptional service create an experience that’s both personal and unforgettable. Beyond just hospitality, Boatique is making a real difference. By hiring and supporting local staff, they not only provide meaningful employment but also enrich the guest experience with authentic cultural connections. Their commitment to responsible tourism ensures that every stay has a positive impact on the community. This isn’t just a place to visit, it’s a place to slow down, connect with nature, and feel like part of something bigger.

Beautiful and tranquil place to stay. Everywhere was spotless, the staff were all lovely. The food was delicious and lots of fresh healthy options. We took the all day boat tour from the hotel which made a great day out and a way to see the local area and took the kayaks out for a few hours. It really is a lovely spot and welcoming friendly staff, Jenny in particular was great . Wish we could have stayed longer.
