Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Costa RicaThere is think in Guatemala in general and in all commercial stores, restaurants, groceries stores and tours that everything need to be pay on cash, if you don't have, they charge you an extra of 8% and in other places 5%, that was kind annoying because you don't plan your vacation having every penny on cash. that was really annoying looking for cash, also there is only one place for exchange. so, make sure or get the cash you will need otherwise you will not be able to buy a bottle of water. Shared showers don't have shelf at least people can put they belongings, and not in the floor where everything gets wet.
The location and Hostel vibes were in general excellent for the price.

United KingdomTiny gripe is that breakfast didn't include coffee despite being attached to a coffee shop. Minor thing in the context of the overall stay.
Lovely hostel. Staff incredibly helpful, with extra special shoutout to Edwin who answered each and every of my inane queries. I was the only one in the dorm and they were kind enough to turn on the A/C beyond the scheduled hours.

IrelandAlthough we were greatful for the air con in the room the staff were in control of turning it off so it stayed on all night making the room extremely cold- nice for coming back to during the day but tough during the night!
Good location, really nice clean hostel! Bathrooms and showers were kept clean and shower had good pressure! Our dorm room was clean and had lockers and air con. Nice breakfast included, and the option of packed lunches if going on early tours. The cafe attached was really cute too!

CanadaIt would be great to have colder water in the refill station, however it is not a necessity.
Very bright and beautiful building, having a cafe built in is very helpful. The staff were very accommodating, and even with my little Spanish they were helpful in me getting my laundry done and holding my backpack while I waited to check in. There are a couple cats there named Mikaela and Juana who are adorable and one even climbed into my bed with me, it was a very welcome surprise since I missed my own cat at home. There is also A/C in the rooms, and a place to refill your waterbottle!

ColombiaCouch needs a replacement as is not comfy anymore. Not bad, but not to sit for a while. Tours fares are a little bit high comparing to other stays.
I felt in love with the kittens around. I like the vibe so chill and calm and is nice to have a coffee shop there.

United StatesThe power to the entire island went out, which wasn't the hostel's fault. But, it meant that AC didn't work which wasn't ideal.
Great location, nice staff, good breakfast, and AC was critical.

New ZealandThe breakfast could be a little bit more, but was totally fine.
Edwin the guy at the reception was very kind and always helpful when I had questions. I was also allowed to let my bags there, even if I didn't spend another night there. I was also allowed to take a shower in the afternoon, after the Tikal hike. The room was quiet with a good AC. Also the showers and toilets were clean. Many plants creates a relaxing vibe.

ColombiaThe communication seemed a bit off sometimes. Water was hot one morning, cold another. Unfortunately, i only got one day of hot shower. When i asked, they said there was a problem, but why they didnt tell us? They also moved me to another bed without telling me. The problem is that they got my stuff, which were on my bed, and moved to another one. I got super stressed when I arrived and didn't see my things, and also, I don't think they should move our stuff around without asking for permission.
The place is comfortable. I looooved the beds, I really needed to rest after the volcano hiking, and the beds were very comfy. The breakfast was great, and the area (inside and outside) was clean and beautiful.

United StatesEven with good windows and air conditioning, the party noise from the street below is very noisy . (2nd floor room) We were there on the weekend before Easter. Probably anywhere in the town would have the same issue.

FranceThe location of the hostel is perfect, on the island, in a cute street, next to some groceries little shops opened late. The check in must be before 10pm but if your flight has delayed like mine there is some 24h/7 so they will still be able to proceed the check in. If you pay by cash it is less expensive. You access the bedrooms and bathrooms via an inner courtyard. The bathrooms are mixed and the shower doors do not have a lock. There are only 2 toilets downstairs so it happened I had queue... There is a potable water fountain in the courtyard. Next to the bed there is a little light and a plug which is great as well as curtains, and in the bedroom there are lockers to put your belongings (bring your lock). There are some books in the common area. And there is a coffee in the hostel where you will have your breakfast. The breakfast is ok but not really feeding (not much) just eggs, a little portion of fruit and 3-4 little slices of bread. The juice is amazing! Coffee is not included. What I really disliked is that they knew I was leaving at 6 am (I let them know by messages before my arrival to ask if it is ok at an early checkout) and no one told me I had to explicitly request a take away breakfast. The breakfast starts at 7 am so I just thought I could not have mine even if included. And when I left the guy asked me if I requested the breakfast last night to take away (he had two packages behind him): No. Because no one told me I could...
