How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewI liked everything. The location, the staff, the food, the views. Our lodge was fantastic! Had views to the river. The price is great for a private room. I also have to say that they helped me with a little surprise for my husband that was celebrating his birthday. It was very cute, they arranged some flowers in the room and at dinner they sang happy birthday with a piece of cake. They also have activities in the river which we didnt do because we didnt have time.
Maybe the rooms need a little more love... there are no lamps just a very small one. There is little decoration. With such great wooden crafts throughout Guatemala it would be nice to have a more "cute" room.

Verified reviewThe place waw awesome to me. I loved the yoga class, the food and the kindness of staff that was outstanding. It exceeded my expextations. The river in the property is also a lovely feature
To be perfect it would be nice to accept credit card payment with no extra fee and maybe the food not vegetarian oriented. Other than that I loved the place.

Verified reviewThe staff was super friendly and proactive. The Restaurant was so delicious, very fresh for good price. It was The best hostel we stayed in so far. It was really a wonderful stay. The Set up and the atmosphere were super relaxed and kind. The location near the river and close to semuc champey was also great. It is also perfect for tubing, because you go directly from the Park to the hostel. The tours can be booked through the hostel and are also very nice. Also the Shuttles, which are cheaper than online.
We cant say anithing negative about this hostel.

Verified reviewI thought that all of the staff members were friendly.
The communication was extremely poor. I did not receive an address of the hotel until we were already driving the the hotel that morning. Their website doesn't specify details of the type of stay they offer. They were not accomodating in the slightest in terms of food and timing of events. We booked this hotel because it was on the river-- with the intention that we would be able to tube at our discretion. However, they only offered one singular time. We also booked for yoga-- which there were no yoga classes available when we stayed. Additionally, the food was delicious but not accomdating at all to people who may not like it. The time for food was really weird... and if you are not going to accomodate your menu to fit the likes of your guest... then at least offer more food options. Some of my friends simply went without food some nights because they did not offer anything that she liked. We were fine with the vegetarian menu (which is implied but not directly stated on their website) and fine with the group meal time, but it was so strange that it would be the ONLY option for food. They also served my friend food with nuts in it, even though they wrote down that she was allergic to nuts. I was also overcharged for my stay. Overall, I think that if you plan to stay at the hotel, not go anywhere, and you're not a picky eater then maybe your time would be better than ours. It was simply just not what we expected and won't be returning unfortunately.

Verified reviewBeautiful setting, good food, great atmosphere, friendly people who offer a great service (both in the accomodation and regarding to shuttle services and activities)
Hard to cool down without airco m, especially in the room (luckily there was a fan). Keep in mind that you are very dependent on the hostel, its facilities and food since you cannot just go to a restaurant or shop nearby. The wifi didn't work either so we relied on the accomodation services. Luckily we could use their hotspots when really needed :)

Verified reviewThere’s a cold river nearby, perfect for cooling down on hot days. The communal space is comfy and calm. The vegetarian food is out of this world. They feed you so well, you’ll never want to leave. The place is very clean. I loved my stay there.

Verified reviewBeautiful location peaceful and in the middle of the jungle. The staff was very friendly. Good breakfast and tasty meals. Great to do tubing back to the hotel. Absolutely recommend staying here.
Rooms are quite small, we didn't have warm showers during our stay. Also, please do something about the very loud creaking of the doors, earplugs weren't enough.

Verified reviewThe location could not have been better! The main room/ dining area had a spectacular view, I never got sick of the view. The staff was friendly. Loved the yoga classes. Although we are not vegetarian, all the meals tasted amazing and had huge potions. We also did the chocolate making class which was fun. Walkable to semuc (45min-1hour- we got a tuk tuk back). Can’t say enough good about this place, truly a gem in the Guatemalan jungle!
The coffee was ok, but an espresso machine would be a great addition! haha coffee snob :(

Verified reviewAn amazing space in the middle of the jungle. The views out of the main area are stunning and the tours run by the staff are brill. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here
Bear in mind it is in the jungle, so there are creepy crawlies and it isn't as luxurious as other places
