How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified review-Very good location: TST metro station is just outside and it is very close to many touristic spots like Kowloon park and TST promenade -It is ok for a couple of nights if you adjust to any situation
-The room is very very small and the shower is literally just the space between the toilet and the basin and it was pointing towards the wall making it very hard to have a proper shower. -It was not very clean -The building where the hostel is could be a bit uncomfortable, however I always felt safe -I honestly found it quite expensive for what it was
We are a good pick for travelers who watching their wallets. Our prime location makes it easy to explore key sights and hop on public transport. The rooms are compact and no-frills, but our housekeepers do the job—beds comfortable and the linens clean. Staff were friendly and accommodating, which hoping to improve the experience. If you need a simple, affordable place to crash and can overlook basic amenities and little noise, this spot works. Just don’t expect luxury.

Verified reviewGreat value and location in Tsim Sha Tsui. Many neighborhood amenities include restaurants, etc. I exercised daily very nearby at Kowloon Park also swimming in the public pool which is very well maintained.
The bed sheets had a strong odor, but the staff immediately replaced it. Hope the bed sheets are rewashed with much stronger detergent or completely discarded.

We got an other room as in the fotos, difficultys to communicate with the staff, bad room needs some fixes, bad had some bugs we couldn't see but they were just biting
Hi Melinda, is there any misunderstanding ? During your stay we did not receive any complaints from you regarding the the things you have written. We also have a translator at the reception so no matter what language you spoke we would not have a problem to understand indeed, not sure if this is a right comment you give to the right hostel, however we feel sorry for your experience.

Verified reviewGreat central location to explore the city, very close to the metro and walking distance to the waterfront, shops and cafes. Basic but functional accommodation for the price, was able to leave luggage for the day as well when checking out - would stay here again.
Sometimes a line for the lift closest to the exit, best to work out where the alternative lifts are (around the corner near the Indian shop) so that you can use them as well.

Experienced travelers to hK all know economical/ affordable accommodation are all located in these kinds of historical building (with lifts), because we are mostly located in prime area, cheap hotels usually located far from city centres. Everyone has a choice and please don’t ridicule others who chose here. Our building is chosen to be filmed for many HK movies if you search online. i believe travelers coming to hk not only expects new buildings (many places have), but also it’s sophistication and its inclusiveness. Our building has 7 elevators to shunt the crowd control, although its old but in fact is quite ok in terms of waiting time, compare to other buildings.

Hi, not sure if you are writing review for the right hostel, however, according to our system, you checked in exactly at 15:00 (our official check in time). and your room is so near to our reception and we DID NOT receive any concerns or complaints from you during your stay at all. The room you stayed is with 2 windows a triple room. If things were n=just like what you mentioned, i believe you would have come to us already since our reception is just few steps away from your apartment and you would not have completed your stay. Kindly understand that we are not a hotel, we are just a youth hostel, at hostel price, reasonable expectation is needed. no cups and no teaspoon indeed. However, water dispenser is placed just at your door, not sure what you meant no cold water? Also, we do not have “old lady” at the reception. We sincerely hope guest could review with reasonable expectation and being authentic, do not abuse the rights to bully online just because of your false expectation.

Hi, Sorry that you may not know much about HK, HK itself is already a small city, but the land price and rental price is one of the top in the world, therefore, our homes/ office/ hotels/ hostels are all smaller (or much smaller) than everywhere else. If you are the first time traveler and did not do much research about here, definitely you would not have a very good experience. However, we strongly suggest travelers do more research to have a right expectation before your trip so that you could have a much more pleasant trip overall. Furthermore, apart from just sightseeing, getting to know more about locals, cultures, habit is also a way of travel and make your trip more interesting.

The room photo online is larger and better, so not fair to us who booked based on photos of room online. hair in shower drain after checkin, stsined sheets, housekeeping does not seems to actually clean bath area except change sheets on 4th day. Only bath towels given at check in and were told no other towels. Slow drain sink asked to fix was not fixed so we pulled hair on our own. Looks like smoke detector in the room taped. In the room stated if you give good review, ok for late checkout. Sent message to hotel but no reply.
Hi john, thank you for your review. May i know where did you send the message to? May be you have sent the wrong messages? Even this review was replied on the same day, how would we not replying? Among the rooms pictures you see online, even for the same room types, the room sizes are slightly different because of the limitation of the configuration of flats. HK hostels are made from division of rooms from a flat, some are bigger and with window some are not and it’s all subject to availability (universal practice in hotel industry). And also the days you came are in the PEAK season during the 1st week of May which is at its highest price with most people coming to hk. If you are an experienced travelers you could have known you just paid for an average of HKD500 for a triple room whereas everywhere is calling for more than HKD2000/ night. Hope your comment could be more fair to us.

Verified reviewThe location is good as it is within walking distance to the HK metro. There are lots of food and shopping options in the vicinity. The bed is comfortable and the room size is adequate. Bedsheet and blanket are clean too.
The hotel staff is only available between 10am and 11pm. This would be a problem for people who arrive early and wish to deposit their luggage before checking in. Early or late check out would also be a problem.
"Tsim Sha Tsui is the heart of Hong Kong, offering convenient transportation and a prime location. The MTR station is right downstairs, making it easy to reach any destination in the city. Victoria Harbour is just a short walk away, and behind the building is the bustling Harbour City shopping mall. You can also take the Star Ferry to Hong Kong Island, making it a popular choice for tourists. While our hostel may not compare to high-end hotels, we offer excellent value. There’s a drugstore, bear cookie shop, and convenience stores nearby. Staying with us allows you to save on accommodation, leaving more for food and shopping. We hope your trip leaves you with wonderful memories!

Small beds (had to bent knees to fit into the bed - 187cm tall person). Problems with water leakage (it was difficult to start water in the tap, if doing so - the water was leaking outside the bathroom into the sleeping area) - the staff seemed to know about the problem, but didn't tell us about it in advance - we ended up wiping water for about 15-20 min at midnight; then we haven't been starting the tap in the bathroom for the remaining days of our stay there.
