Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ThailandI don’t mind climbing the stair but with luggages, it was a bit of a struggle. Even with the lift.
I like the quite secluded but perfectly safe location. The hotel has an amazing view up from the hill overlooking into the city and in the morning, it’s very peaceful. I love how it’s surround by nature but still very accessible at the same time. There’s a bus stop right outside of the hotel and a nearby mtr as well. But I recommend only bringing a light suitcase or else you will have quite a workout to get to the reception (there’s a lift but you will still have to climb a few flight of stairs to reach the top.) But I promise you the stay will make it worth it! The staff also vey nice. I love it here and would definitely stay here again next time.

SingaporeNo water refill station provided, have to boil water ourselves. Property is up the hill - not recommended for people with mobility difficulties or travelers with huge and heavy luggage since there's only stairs if room is on 2nd floor.
Quaint and unique property unlike other commercial hotels in the bustling city, steep in local cultural heritage. Clean and generally complete amenities. Room bigger than typical hotel rooms in HK.

United KingdomThe Heritage Lodge represents an interesting alternative to more typical hotels. The old, re-purposed and refurbished buildings are quite characterful and set in a very calm and green environment. My room was spacious and comfortable, with tasteful features, such as stylish lampshades and nice tilework. The bathroom was well maintained and fresh towels were provided everyday, if required. The beds were comfortable enough. A charming coffee shop can be found within the complex, in addition to a good quality restaurant. Also within the complex is an interesting gallery and cultural centre. I feel I received good service and good value for money. Some people, depending on their age or level of fitness, might find the number of steps one has to climb in order to arrive at the reception desk and rooms somewhat challenging, particularly in the hotter months. However, countering this is the elevated position of the property, and the corresponding view. Also, the steps are mitigated to an extent by two lifts which can be used if one so wishes. At night, the steps are well lit and atmospheric. There is a charming lily pond and many beautiful trees throughout the grounds of the complex. I found the staff helpful, friendly, and welcoming. In conclusion, my stay at the Heritage Lodge was very pleasant and represented good value for money.

NetherlandsQuiet and relaxing location. Waking up with bird sounds in the middle of some green. Lots of stairs, but there are elevators. Nice and clean room. Kind staff. Two subway stations closeby (Mei Foo and Lai Chi Kok). Breakfast is late. Starts at 9:00.

GermanyThe lodges are located at the top of the hill, thus there are plenty of stairs or elevator to take to get up there. We were with backpack so it's alright but it might be more complicated with suitcases.
The area is special and have an unique landscape view.

Czech RepublicOur air conditioning machine was very loud, so we had to use ear plugs. Would be nice if the vending machines in the complex sell some soups/snacks, not just beverages.
Buildings are located in area, that is very quiet, so you can escape the rush of the city. Although you have to climb some stairs from subway, the complex itself has two elevators, and then some stairs, so it is not as dramatic, as we were thinking based on some previous reviews. The atmosphere of the whole place and room was very pleasant. They let us store the luggage for few days (as we made a trip to another country only with backpacks).

United KingdomWe arrived with lots of suitcases and there are lots of stairs with a lift only to the half way point. The set is set on the side of a hill if you don't have heavy luggage then it's a good spot.
The hotel is set in beautiful surroundings and the coffee bar (where breakfast is served) is amazing and the staff are so friendly . The room was cleaned well everyday, but the windows are small with only a little bit of natural light.

It is difficult to find such a heritage yard in Hong Kong with very high skyscrapers almost everywhere. The location is very good with subway (cross point of two lines), airport bus station (local bus with very cheap fare from/to the airport comparing with the airport express), supermarkets, markets, and restaurants in local residents living area nearby.

AustraliaThe hike to the lodge was arduous especially during the hot weather. Their elevators do not service all the way up to the lodgings. Since it offers staycation for families with pets in particular canines (judging by their posters), it would have been wholesome if they adopt the three stray dogs that visit their grounds every now and then.
It’s situated up high in the hill and its expansive view of Kowloon is breathtaking. Begin our day hearing birds chirping happily, domesticated felines of the hotel waiting to be fed etc. It’s private and quiet setting, no other high rise apartments or offices looking into your room apart from the room(s) adjacent to your building. Outdoor tables and chairs should you wish to bask in the sun or count the stars. Rooms are spacious by HK’s standard although the rooms show signs of age. Museums, cafes and restaurants are a stone throw away. There was a promotional offer going on at their restaurant during our stay. Good, fresh and quality food. Pet friendly hotel which is a rarity in HK.

Hong KongThe shower room drainage is slightly stuck.
The place is a historic building and the interior is quite simple with some old Chinese and Western style. Perfect for people looking for staying away from city and read some books during the stay. They also have two restaurants just down the lodge and both are good quality.

TaiwanWhile my stay at Heritage Lodge was overall positive, there were a few drawbacks worth noting. Firstly, the requirement of a HKD500 guarantee for each room caught me off guard, and it would be helpful if this were communicated more transparently during the booking process. Additionally, the layout of the hotel, with a combination of elevators and stairs to reach the top floors, may pose challenges for individuals with mobility issues or heavy luggage. Lastly, the lack of on-site dining facilities could be inconvenient for those looking for a quick meal within the hotel premises. Despite these shortcomings, the hotel's positives may outweigh these minor inconveniences for many travelers.
My recent stay at Heritage Lodge in Hong Kong was a pleasant experience. The hotel's proximity to Mei Foo MTR station made exploring the city easy. While reaching the top floors required a mix of elevators and stairs, it added a unique touch to the experience. The room was clean, quiet, and provided a comfortable retreat. I was pleasantly surprised by the affordability of the stay, although a HKD500 guarantee per room was unexpected. Despite this, Heritage Lodge offers a convenient and reasonably priced option for travelers in Hong Kong.
