How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewVery good overall hotel. Very good swimming pool. Superb breakfast. The hotel is very conveniently located just in front of a subway station.
We have asked the rooms to be on a higher floor, as the previous times we have stayed in this hotel, but the two rooms given to us this time were on the second floor, just beside major air conditioning units. Their noisy operation has ruined our stay.

Having stayed in this hotel several times before and having asked - as usual - a room on a higher floor, we got both rooms on the floor 2 - just beside several main air conditioning units, which were all very noisy and made this stay unpleasant for us. The bathroom amenities, if used, would have to be paid - not usual on a 4 star Hotel.

Verified reviewExcellent location right in the middle of one of the many busy cities of Hong Kong. Good facilities and special mention to the house keepers who cleaned my room - Xiao Xing and Mandy who clean floor 600 rooms. They were very attentive and always made sure the rooms were fully equipped on a daily basis. I asked for extra towels on most days and they were very efficient to ensure I get them in a short period of time.
The lobby was sectioned to stop people from sitting down stairs at night. I did not know this until a hotel staff said as long as I go and sit there. We asked for extra umbrella but was told no as 1 umbrella per room and there was 4 in our room.

Verified reviewHotel was located in the heart of TST with convenient walking to most places of interest. Breakfast area was huge and we never had problem finding seats.
Check in experience was really bad. We reached hotel at around 1 PM and upon checking in were told that room will only be ready by 3 PM. We asked how would we know when the room is ready. They said they will email us. The lobby was overcrowded with people waiting for their rooms, so we decided to wait at a cafe nearby. We waited until 3:30 PM but received no email. When came back and asked a front desk staff, they asked us to use the self check-in kiosks. When we tried to use them, found that both of these were not functional. Many guests tried it but failed. There was also no one around to ask to fix it. We again had to queue for more than 30 mins to reach the check-in counters. The agent was not at all concerned with the experience of all the guests who have to do check in twice due to broken machines and did not even bother greeting us. The breakfast quality was average, and Indian food selection and quality was especially bad. While location was good for walking around, it was really bad if you need to take a taxi. Going anywhere except north required long detours through overcrowded streets and (don't know for sure why) a lot of taxis we booked cancelled on us or ghosted. Didn't experience this at other locations. The view of the room was horrible. It was overlooking the dilapidated roof of hotel's foyer and other dilapidated buildings around (see photo). The water filter output in room was really slow and tested patience. The bathroom had wood rots, missing grout on tiles and significant etching on the floor tiles. There was also no electric kettle. The air conditioner was very noisy and unless you turned it off, changing the fan speed seemed to make no difference.

But beware of the smell, I booked a standard room and I was assigned with a room on lower floors which are smells terrible in which no one could stay inside for over 5 minutes. I complained to the front desk and be able to get another room on the same floor, still same. I had to pay more to upgrade my stay to higher level room which had not much smell.
