How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewNice hotel in a good place!
There was weird smell, most likely from the cleaning. Also they take a copy of your bank card.

Verified reviewBest thing I liked was checking out and never returning.
On arrival i paid via Visa card. After taking my payment the card machine froze and they was adamant that the payment didn't go through and I had to pay again even though I showed them the transaction on my phone. The room was ridiculously tiny even though stated its a double room. The bedsheets were stained yellow and the bathroom edges were dirty. After raising my concerns to the staff they responded with "welcome to hongkong". The bed is so hard it was like sleeping on the floor. Ive left my trip feeling achy and tired. After checking out they charged my card 45 HKD for 2 cans of coke (no pre warning about the mini bar). This place should be a 1 star!!!

Verified reviewThe Mingle by the Park hotel is located in central Hong Kong with shops and restaurants nearby as well as a lovely park for relaxing in the afternoon. The property is located within a short walking distance from the Wan Chai MRT station. The hotel reception staff were friendly and polite. They also spoke very good English as I don't speak Chinese and this was very helpful.
The room was small and was overlooking a busy road during daytime but it was quiet at night and you were able to sleep. Another negative is that the property is not serviced by a lift. I had a large suitcase to carry on the 2nd floor but I got help with it from the reception staff.

Verified reviewMy stay here was less than conventional due to fracturing my foot on the third day of my holiday/visit. As such, I experienced both their cheapest and most expensive rooms, with something in the middle for one night. The overall verdict is that this hotel is very good value for money when visiting Hong Kong. For sure, the space in the cheapest room is miniscule and only suitable for one person (couples or families should spend a little more), but the central, easy to assess, location within Wan Chai more than made up for it; besides, it's really only a place where you go to sleep. After my accident, the staff proved to be absolutely amazing. My initial hurdle was that the room I'd booked was only accessible via stairs...I needed a lift (nb: if you have any mobility concerns, avoid these rooms). On return from A&E, I was swiftly reassigned to a lift accessible room and had my luggage brought over. Despite the hotel being at peak capacity due to a big rugby event, the staff were great at ensuring that I remained in a room suitable for my condition. Not only that, they made me feel very at ease and gave me additional offers for support with getting around (including nipping to the shops for essentials). Overall, so long as your expectations are managed regarding the room size, this hotel delivers excellent value for money in an expensive city and the staff will make you feel just as welcome had you gone to a 4 star.

Verified reviewLocation is very good. Not only nearby to metro but lots of good cafes/restaurants and the tram right outside. Staff are direct but accommodating. Room was clean, bathroom very clean. The common space has lots of appliances to use.
If you are a light sleeper, the street is loud and walls are thin. No elevator Room is quite small, might be difficult if you have big luggage.

Verified reviewGreat location in a bustling local neighbourhood ... 10mins walk from the "action" of Wan Chai
Room is overall marginally bigger than the bed! Room to swing a (small) cat around. But hey, its Hong Kong!

Verified reviewI like the location. For the price, it was a very good deal. We also met the nice Thai cleaning woman, and she was very nice and sweet. We liked her. We liked the guy at the reception, and that we were able to borrow an umbrella. Even though the room was VERY small, it had just about everything you could want.
Definitely hated the 3pm check in. We hated the maze you had to follow to get to the room. We went out the back most of the time. I didn't realize how small the room was, it had room for one all over it. 2 of us would kill each other if we were there a few more days. I think the worst thing besides the check in was the girl at the front. She would do everything she needed to do, but seemed so reluctant, as if her job was the worst thing on the planet and if she could kill us, she would prefer that. Definitely don't ask me vibes... And really 3pm check in???

Verified reviewThe room is clean & tidy but expect water drips on the wall pillar when the air conditioner is not cold enough.
The water infused rust drips down to the bed via air-cond vent. Also, the receptionist will ask you to avoid using AMEX when there is a accepted sticker displayed.
