Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing wrong with the accommodation itself, but you might find it a bit difficult to get there. We took a taxi from the airport, about HKD 230, but the driver didn't know Solar Villas and dropped us about 15-20 minutes walk from there. Not a huge problem in daylight, the helpful locals showed us the way. In any case, taxis can't go all the way, so you will have a 5-10 minute walk with your luggage.
The family room has heating and a fridge, but they are not mentioned in the info on this site. Should be updated to attract more guests. Heating is important in the winter, and a fridge is always important. Otherwise, everything was fine. Cleaning of floors and emptying of rubbish every day. Definitely better to stay here with children than in a cramped room in Kowloon - plenty of space, much better air and a beach nearby. Not a place for partying - there are rules about not making a noise, especially at night.

PhilippinesIt is on an island, MA WAN ISLAND, so if you're an explorer, there is nothing much to do here. There's 2 convenient store but too far. The commute process is not that easy to navigate, but manageable like us who were the explorers in using google map. If you love walking, its fine. But if you have kids and you have seniors, better look somewhere else. If you're going to Disneyland, this island is not that recommendable, there are better stays elsewhere that are also affordable.

PhilippinesThe villa itself is inside a community. You have to walk from the taxi stop going inside the villa. With luggages, you may find it not so good. But that's the only downside if you need to carry baggages. Otherwise, walking is fun since the environment is nice.
The room was big enough for a family of 4. The community was also very quiet and secluded. Bus and taxi stops are 5 minutes walk away including 7-11 and other stores.

United Arab EmiratesNo bidet hose (but understandable) but difficult for those used with it. Location is difficult to find and taxi can’t get inside until the villa (residential area). No cutlery provided so it’s advisable to bring or buy from outside No nearby shops or food etc but vending machines available but only cash accepted or Octopus card. Had to walk 10-15 mins until you get to shops Limited English speakers Dark passages
We stayed in a family room and it was comfortable for 5 people including child. There’s 2 showers and 2 toilets that adds to comfort.

United KingdomMa Wan island itself looks like the perfect quiet getaway but it looks to have been forgotten over the years. At one time it was clearly thriving with a beautiful park and amenities. Hopefully some regeneration will occur as it could be such a wonderful escape from the city. Solar Villas looks to be a fairly new set up and hopefully the first of a number of projects to get the island back up to it's former self. At Solar Villas itself it would be nice to have little café as there is nothing close by and the tables and chairs in the courtyard make a perfect spot for sitting and relaxing with a coffee/tea and cake and eating ice cream!
The room was a great size and accommodated our family of 5 easily. There were 2 large bathroom spaces which and a balcony. The apartment looked as if it was fairly new inside. The location was out of the main city, so therefore very quiet but transport links were good (you will need to purchase an oyster card for the metro and bus). It is a car free zone so the taxi/bus cannot take you all the way to the accomodation but it is only a short walk. Do note that this is probably more budget accommodation and for us it was perfect and although newly done on the inside it was a little rough around the edges outside. There are no fancy amenities but the accommodation provided everything we needed and I would certainly recommend it as a base for exploring Hong Kong and it's surrounding islands.

Malaysia1)The villa didnt have any cafe or restaurant. There is a 10 min walking distance to the restaurant. 2)The walking distance from main road to villa very darkened when we walk back to villa at the night time.
The island environment is very safe. We are family of 5, the room had 4 bed and 1 sofa bed, 3 bathroom and 3 toilet. It is also nearby beach. For transportation also very convenient. Just take bus NR 330 can reach 青衣MRT station, then can go anyway from the MRT

Brunei DarussalamAll are far, but a walking distance. Location is inside a residential area and taxis are not allow to drop off in front of hotel. You must walk 100 m uphill with luggage definitely is not enjoyable. There is not 24 hours front office, for night shift you have to go to Noah Ark hotel to get your key. But no information provide about this in the booking instructions. Thanks to one resident I was able to contact front desk and get my keys. For shopping some food or drinks there is a 7 Eleven at 15 min walk open till 11 pm. Nearby restaurant is at Noah ark hotel (10 minutes walk) for breakfast. For lunch/dinner are more options in the Ma wan Tung Wan Beach or few restaurants in the Park residential area near bus station/pier at 10-15 minutes walk
Room is clean and have 3 showers and 3 toilets, this give flexibility for a family of 5. Airport is relatively near only 20 minutes ride in taxi. Red taxi is the only that provide service in Ma Wan area Very quiet place inside a residential area surrounding by a park.

IndonesiaBiggest drawback is that Taxi doesnt drop off till the property! you have to pull your baggage all the way inside almost 800 meters… very interior location. It was very inconvenient moving the luggage to and from the room. and then again to the taxi spot. No one offers help either. No breakfast provided at the hotel/property.
The room decor was cute and attractive for a child ( my daughter loved it) liked the idea of having 3 separate toilets, wash basins and showers. The linen and towels were fresh and clean. The staff was helpful with guiding us with the routes and other information required. They even obliged to keep our luggage for a few hours after we checked out.
