How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewHad a mix up with my dates and although the booking went through, my error, was offered an exceptional upgrade to a queen suite overlooking kowloon hardbour. A beautiful spacious room, confortable bed, and exceptional staff treatment. Would highly recommend

Verified reviewThey didn’t let us continue to use the facilities once checked out and waiting for a late flight, despite being in Sky deluxe room. That was rubbish since it was the only good day that the pool was open during our whole stay. Left a bad taste experience

Verified reviewBreakfast buffet very good. Club Lounge very basic with very limited opening hours and drinks selection. Club lounge staff very friendly and efficient during the limited hours they were open. Good location for our needs.
General feeling is in need of refurbishment. Very basic room facilities, all worked well although very dated. Room decor in need of refurbishments.

Verified reviewThe pool, the staff, the facilities, the cleanliness, the location, and the food were all excellent.. The only thing missing was either a bar or just somewhere for a group of 10 to sit down and play cards or games of an evening. Other than that, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend the Royal Garden highly.
There is nowhere to hang out as a group in the evening. If there was a bar, we couldn't find it. We had a group of 10, not all drinkers, and it would have been nice to have had somewhere to meet up and sit and play games or play cards or just talk of an evening.

Verified reviewThe hotel structure is pretty unique. Staffs were helpful and polite. There are a lot of restaurants - Hong Kong style, western style, fast food around the hotel for you ro choose. The spa and the pool were excellent.
The hotel room is a little bit old and wear. It is located in east of Tsim Sha Tsui, so it will take at least 10 minutes walk to catch a subway.

Verified reviewLocation, I like to stay in Tsim Sha Tsui area. I stayed at Royal Garden for many years. Staffs are friendly.
There are stains on the head board of my room. The room is kind of dated and need renovation. Would be better to have 3 receptions and cashier at check in /out time.. (noon).

Verified reviewGreat location, just off the waterfront. Room really comfortable. Conceige staff incredibly lovely
Sadly our 2 rooms couldn't be located near each other - totally different floors, especially after requesting well in advance. Not ideal when traveling as a family Carpets need attention throughout

Verified reviewReception is constantly too busy- non-stop queques, but friendly when you get there. Concierge was excellent, and easy to store shortterm luggage . 5-6 restaurants, which we thought were expensive ( by Aussie standards). We were able to " buy" access to the Concierge Lounge on floor 12- restful and great service.

Verified reviewI have read a couple of poor comments on this location and I simply do not get it. Value for money is great. We spend 3 nights w/o breakfast. Nice pool and gym, quite and yes if you aim a location with full view on HK island, you most probably need to choose something else, but certainly also at a different price.
Nothing to mention!

Verified reviewThe pool was nice. The gym was great. Room was nice but the single arm chair and ottoman took up so much room. There’s no where to put your suitcase except on the floor.
Check in staff.

Verified reviewRoyal Garden provided a beautiful spacious room for my mother and I for an 11 night stay. The staff were exceptional and professional, especially Frankie (concierge), Min (cleaner), Teresa (manager) who helped us address some specific requests. The walk to East Tsim Sha Tsui station was about 3 min, and then another 3 min to get to Tsim Sha Tsui station underground (the more common station for our needs). I loved the gym and pool, such a retreat at the start/end of a busy day.
Very small details: I'm a coffee drinker so would've loved having better in room coffee options (there's instant nescafe and coffeemate). The hotel dining options are very specific, either formal restaurant dining or buffet. Most of the time if I'm eating at the hotel as opposed to restaurant its for quick, easy and affordable. (e.g. Two eggs and a black coffee) - For people who eat small, would recommend heading out to a diner.
