How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewCheryl has created at oasis amongst the hilltop. The buildings are charming and surrounded by beautiful flowers and fruit trees. It’s a very peaceful place perfect for travelers of all kinds. The staff are super welcoming and the food is divine! Get the Lemongrass chicken and thank me later.

Verified reviewThe owner is a native English speaker and she was super nice. The bed was very comfortable and the AC worked great. Having free purified water was a plus. The pool area is nice. For Roatan, it was a good value for what you get.
The free breakfast was pretty much "take it or leave it" and was the typical breakfast here in Honduras. Some options and a little menu would have been nice. My shower water never got above lukewarm, which was ok since Roatan is so hot, but hot water to soothe my aching muscles would have been nice. The location isn't great, but there's nothing they can do about that. The restaurant is shockingly expensive ($22 for a burger and smoothie) but I guess that's on par with Roatan tourist restaurant prices.
Thanks for the review and the comment on good value and comfort. I am glad our staff tended well to you. For our rate which includes free air con, free drinking water, free breakfast, free fiber optik wifi we are fairly generous. The hot breakfast plate of the day includes fresh fruit, and refillable hot beverage or juice. We appreciate the choice for your stopover of 2 nights visiting Roatan.

Verified reviewGuava Grove is a nice location, the owner who operates the villas is really nice and does a great job connecting with her guests dailly. The grounds are nicely kept and there is a really nice calm pool with a swim up bar and restaurant. Many units also have small kitchens so you can shop and prepare your own meals if that’s your thing.
If you’re planning to get around the island a bit you’ll need either a car or plan on using taxis. It’s not remote but also not walking distance to a lot of spots like the West End or West Bay. I wouldn’t call this a “dislike” but something to keep in mind.
Thank you for your positive review. We appreciate your feedback and altho we can not change our location we choose this spot for many of the things you did like. We are 2.25 km to West End and many nature lovers and walkers enjoy the 25 minute push down the road. That said a bus and taxi are regularly available and very affordable for a 3 minute ride at $1 and $3 respectively for each person. Also we offer transport, when we are available, from the top end of the property to your desired location for reasonable rates. Thank you for staying with us and I am glad we were walking distance to your choice of dive shop in Sandy Bay. Hoping to see you again one day.

THE ONLY PROBLEM SO FAR NO SHUTTLE SERVICE FROM THE FERRY PORT TO THE HOTEL
Thank you for your positive review and so glad the WIFI was important and worked well for you. We do offer shuttles but we do charge for them as our rates are very economical and we can not support a vehicle for free. The airport/ferry service can be booked in advance (as outlined on our listing) and the driver greets you to make an easy transition to the hotel. I appreciate your feedback and will try to advise future guests on this transportation service as it appears the details are easily missed on this platform.

Verified reviewI liked the location, the pool, the distance from the resort to the west end. I enjoyed the viwe and how neath the premises were. The host and workers are very attentive and very helpful going above and beyond to help us.
I didn't like the toilets, in my opinion, not clean enough marks inside the toilet seat. The kitchen sink and toilet sink were not cleaned when we arrived. It was all dusty except the bed. Breakfast was disappointing we didn't have a choice or continental breakfast, and juice was not included. we had to pay for the coconut water and any juice. Everything else was good exceptional customer service 👌🏾 With all said, I would deffo go back. we had a lovely time at the resort ☺️ I have COPD cleaning is a must 😅 I believe linda can and will do better, thank you.
Thank you for your positive review. Your helpful cleaning points have been noted and we are already working on this. Your value room of $49.41 per night plus 19% tax for 2 persons included air conditioning, wifi, hot water bathroom and breakfast. A hot breakfast with hot coffee or tea, served as a variety and not the same every day; one day juevos rancheros, another waffles & scrambled eggs, another day tipico, is a very good value for the price and due to the economy we can not afford to give away extras. Thank you for staying with us at Guava Grove. We are glad you choose this property for your accommodation whilst exploring Roatan.

Verified reviewUnfortunately our apartment was adjacent to a roadway. It was very noisy. Also the pool area was crowded on the weekends when the owners let locals use the pool area. Two birthday parties in one day. I think the priory should be given to the guests as there was no space for the guests at the pool.
Thank you for your review. Your high season rate for 2 persons with breakfast included was $89.24. You arrived on a Thursday and left on a Tuesday for a total of 5 nights. On Fridays Guava Grill hosts Live Music Lunch of which you may not have joined in with the other North Americans visiting Guava Grill from throughout Roatan. On Sunday March 16 3 groups of Hondurans came to Guava Grill unannounced to use the pool, buy food and drinks and be with family. By coincidence 2 birthday parties were amongst these families. We do not send people away. Without the local Honduran population we are nothing. Sandy Bay is a local community and the three other resorts nearby are also open to the public and welcome locals. Perhaps based on your review you should have stayed on West Bay Beach behind a gate and guard where locals are not to mix with the tourists. I believe you miss-booked by choosing Guava Grove where most reviews are stellar.

Verified reviewMy husband & I spent 2 weeks here and just returned home on April 7, 2025. My husband and I are well travelled ( 60 year olds ,who have visited all corners of the Caribbean. Absolutely everything about this jungle oasis in Sandy Bay was incredible! The grounds which the owners gave us a 30 min tour of is absolutely breathtaking. Every colour of tropical flower , lush , tall greenery , surrounded the buildings, line the walkway & pool. They described each tree, including guava, limes, coconuts, bananas, chata, & even a cashew tree! They explained the planting & cultivation of each and how they use them in their homemade recipes for their Grill which is onsite . It is available for resort guests and the public. FOOD: NOTE: The grill & bar is closed on Tuesdays.( including for resort guests) But that gave us a chance to try other restaurants in the area . Their food was phenomenal! We did not have everything on their menu but everything we did have was some of the best on the island! I Some reviews I read ( said its a bit” pricey?”, We find the saying “ you pay for what you get “ applies here. If you want cheap, theres lots of “ cheap” , greasy options in West end. But if you want an authentic , fair, island ,fresh , culinary experience? GUAVA GROVE GRILL & RESORT is for you! My favs were ALL their ceviches ( Which Ive had all over the Caribbean, theirs was the best Ive ever had) Their conch fritters( “conk”not “conch”) :) ( shout out to Ferdinand) Their “ fresh catch of the day” ( I had Snapper ) was in a savoury, coconut cream sauce made from their own coconuts, with roasted local veggies & a fresh salad. My husband LOVED their hamburgers( freshly seasoned patties from scratch) & their wings & hand cut fries. The deserts!!!!!! their coconut cream pie??….It should be illegal! !! Made from their own fresh coconuts & coconut cream .
The owner Cheryl expressed how she “doesn’t mind an occasional negative review as it “ validates the good ones”& as fellow business owners I, my husband and I can appreciate that! My husband and I also take negative reviews very seriously and use it as a learning opportunity to make improvements whenever possible. We also know that you cant please everyone all the time. In saying that, one lesson I learned with our stay (3 visits to Roatan , 2 cruise days , but our first stay -over this year) is to contact your resort directly before booking ( if possible) I did the opposite. I booked through booking dot com and then saw some in congruencies with room descriptions ( NO FAULT OF GUAVA GROVE) . We invited friends to join us who booked at GG without consulting with us , so we felt obligated to also book there) there was only one Queen bed option at the time . Booking dot com called it a “ Junior Suite with garden view” . As a seasoned traveller , I looked at GG website & there was no “ Junior Suite with garden view“ option even listed ! But the details of the “ closest” option was “ Deluxe Queen with garden & sea View”. Because we were traveling as a group, I booked .( I will add that in small print “ Booking dot com did have the room sq footage listed and I missed it) When we arrived , our friends actually had a huge magnificent Queen suite with walk-in closet, large bathroom & glass front opening up to an unbeatable ocean view , also a small fridge.) They also had a massive deck with huge comfy deck furniture) Our room was much smaller , no closet , a small bathroom & a small standing rack to hang a few items ,a nightstand & narrow high table with room for a few items. It was on the back side of the building with a small deck overlooking the beautiful gardens. It had a small table with 4 chairs . I did take a peek at the adjacent room beside us , it was about the same size but with bunk beds & s double bed.
Thanks for staying at Guava Grove with your friends. Booking.com supports Guava Grove Resort & Villas with written room details & photos for each room. Your girlfriend managed to book our best room before you. I hope you made good memories on your vacation.

Verified reviewAbsolutely beautiful property and great location. My wife and I loved our stay at Guava Grove, the owners and staff are great people and very accommodating. Our room was a great size and everything you’d need for a comfortable stay, as well as great views! The restaurant and bar onsite has excellent drinks and food, some of the best we had on our trip. The property is a short walk to the beach in Sandy Bay, or a quick taxi ride into West End. Thank you Cheryl and Murray!
Thank you for the positive review. Guava Grove really is the perfect spot to enjoy the west side from. See you again another time.

Verified reviewIts minutes walk to the Sandy Bay dive shop along the beach, where I did all my dives with during this diving trip. The room I got was awesome, with comfortable bed, high ceiling, nice breeze when all windows open ( I didn’t turn on the AC at all), and a balcony with jungle and sea view. The owner Cheryl is so nice and helpful. Very responsive to my inquiries, good local advices and makes great piña colada too! Overall all staff there are so friendly and helpful. The kitchen makes this really yum whole red snapper. It’s indie for. The pool is quite a size for a hotel like this. I’d say it’s a family friendly hotel but I felt very comfortable there as a solo traveller too.

Verified reviewVery affordable place and located nicely. Close to West End, its easy to go there. Also Cheryl the owner is super helpful and upright. Ask her if you need information or want to book some trip, she can usually arrange it, or tell you a cheap way to do it. She set me up to with a scooter and it was great. Really enjoyed the stay and as someone who knows nothing about Honduras or Roatan it was great to have someone to give me some pointers.
Nothing to complain about.
It was nice to receive your positive review. Definetly a pleasure to have hosted you. The room you stayed in was 1 of 2 of our smallest rooms. Normally bookers stay here 1 night. I am glad you were cozy enough to extend and stay a total of 4 nights. The vegan diet you stick to was a breeze for me to deliver at breakfast with hummus & beans and fresh corn tortillas & fruit. The scooter timing was perfect for you with your previous travel experience and interest in exploring. All the best in Copan!
